Gloria Cope Webb

August 30, 2024

Gloria Cope Webb, age 89 of Smithville, passed away Thursday afternoon at her residence in the Jefferson community. She was a homemaker and attended the Old Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

She was born on October 18, 1934 in Smithville. She was preceded in death by her parents; Hastle and Myrtle Cantrell Cope, Husband; Aaron Webb, Sisters; Betty Jones and Maxine Briggs and brother; Grady Cope.
Visitation with the Webb family will be on Sunday from 12:00 to 7:00 pm and Monday from 10:00 am to service time at 1:00 pm at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Barry Boggs will officiate and burial will follow in Jefferson Cemetery.

Survivors include 2 daughters; Connie (David) Parsley, Donna Cripps (Kerry Robinson), 4 grandchildren; Bruce (Leslie) Parsley, Bridgett (Aaron) Loyd, Makenzy (Caleb) Gash and Alex (Whitney) Cripps, 11 Great-Grandchildren; Jacob (Laura) Parsley, Katherine Hembree, Kristen (Tanner) Bell, Courtney (Dustin) Estes, Connor Rice, Samuel Loyd, John Aaron Loyd, Shayla Loyd, Everett Cripps, Britton Gash and Rosie Cripps, 6 Great Great Grandchildren; Logan Hembree, Cassidy Rice, Wyatt Estes, Harrison Bell, Piper Parsley and Lillian Estes, several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to flowers the family has asked that donations please be made to Jefferson Cemetery.




Shirley Gail Cantrell Poss

August 26, 2024

Ms. Shirley Gail Cantrell Poss, age 74, passed away on August 25, 2024 at home. She was born on Christmas Eve 1949 in Woodbury, Tennessee to her parents, Frances and Johnny Cantrell, who predeceased her. She is survived by daughter, Michelle Poss and her husband Clifton B. Sobel, Jr. Gail grew up in Smithville, Tennessee and lived there most of her life except a short time when she lived in Cape May, New Jersey.

She worked for United States Representative, Joe L. Evins, as well as the Smithville Municipal Airport and the DeKalb County Hospital for more than 30 years.

She loved to travel, especially to Newport, Rhode Island and annual trips to Savannah, Georgia. She loved her grand-beagles, Diamond and Wrigley. She was member of Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 31 from 5-7pm and on Sunday, September 1 from 1pm until the time of service at 2pm with Bro. Jason Lohorn officiating and burial to follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery.

Debra Lynn Bain

Debra Lynn Bain age 61 of Smithville, passed away Thursday morning August 22, 2024 after a short illness. She was born December 23, 1962 to her parents, the late George Johnson, Sr. and Nell Johnson Keaton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lee Bain; son, Kenny Bain, Jr.; daughter, Stacey Powell; brother, Georger Johnson, Jr. Debra was a Baptist and worked as a medical assistant at Family Medical Center. She is survived by a daughter, Nelda (Terry) Raibley of Indiana; grandchildren, Jacob Bandy, Tanisha (Ronnie) Gutierrez, Briana (Austin) Ellis, Gavin Bain, Braxton Bain and Dayne Powell; great-grandchildren, Aaron and Noah Bandy, Ale and Isaiah Gutierrez and Dallas Ellis; 2 sisters, Janie Johnson and Teresa Johnson both of Walling. Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, August 24, 2024 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Bain Family.




Jacque Anita Hale

Jacque Anita Hale age 66 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday morning August 21, 2024 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. She was born September 24, 1957 to her parents, the late Jackson Lee and Kelvie Euthlynn Wright Redmon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Andrea Redmon. Mrs. Jacque was a lab tech at StoneCrest Medical Center and a member of New Union The Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Hale of Smithville; 2 children, Tyson Scott (Chasity) Hale of Smithville and Audrey Leighton Adams of Lebanon; 4 grandchildren, Andrew Blake Hale, Micah Nichole Hale, Olivia Mae Adams and Charlotte James Adams; 2 sisters-in-law, Helen (Jim) Cook of Liberty and Barbara Hale of McMinnville. Funeral services will be 11:AM Saturday, August 24, 2024 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in New Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 2 PM until 7 PM and Saturday 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Hale Family.

Ashley Michelle Bain age 37 of Smithville passed away Friday August 16, 2024, at her residence in Manchester, TN. She was born in Grundy County August 17, 1986. She was a Car Inspector and a member of Whorton Springs Baptist Church. Ashley was preceded in death by her Maternal Grandmother: Sue Dexter Beshearse; Maternal Grandfather: Clifton Ray Dexter; Father: Jerry Lee Bain; Paternal Grandmother: Mary Ann Malone; Paternal Grandfather: L.G. Bain; Aunt: Delissa Sue Dexter; Uncles: Gary Ray Dexter and Mike Beckham. Survivors include her 3 children: Natalya Kate McCarty of Dowelltown, Slayden Brock Young, Kolton Elijah Young both of Manchester; Significant other: Ashton Brock Young of Manchester; Mother: Tina Renea Dexter Boston of Dowelltown; Stepfather: James Malcolm Boston of Dowelltown; Brother: Andy Lee (Shelby Lauren) Bain; Nephews: Sylas Matthew Bain, Axel Blake Bain; Niece: Adalyn Jean Bain; Several Aunts, Uncles & Cousins also survive. Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, August 23, 2024 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Kolby Layne Jacobs age 18 of Smithville, passed away Sunday August 18, 2024, in Sewanee, Tn. He was born July 3, 2006, to his mother Quastaia Braswell. Kolby is preceded in death by Grandfather: Steve Braswell; 2 Great Grandfathers: Harold Elrod and Billy Braswell. Funeral services for Kolby will be held 4 PM Thursday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ken Lewis officiating and burial to follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Thursday August 22, 2024, from 12:Noon until time of the service at 4 PM.
