Rena Jewell Cryer

Rena Jewell Cryer age 83, passed away December 5, 2022 at her residence in Dowelltown. She was born July 30, 1939 to her parents, the late John and Jewell Cook Trout. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Cryer; 2 grandchildren; siblings, Carl Murphy, Tommy Trout, Judy Heslar, and Ronnie Trout. Ms. Cryer worked as a Barber. She is survived by children, Tony A. Rhoten of Nashville, Cindy Cyr of Dowelltown, and David Cryer of Dowelltown; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service and interment will be held 1 PM Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Young Cemetery in the Keltonburg Community with Bro. Sam Allen officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help with expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Charles Eugene Adcock

Mr. Charles Eugene Adcock age 64 of Smithville, TN passed away Friday morning, December 9, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Adcock was born on November 18, 1958 in Smithville, TN to his parents, Mitchell & Imogene Melton Adcock. He was formerly a Truck Driver with B & M Trucking and was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 2pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Graden Kirksey will officiate and burial will follow at Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday from 2-8pm & Sunday from 11am until the service time at 2pm.

Survivors include his Wife, Lori Hendrixson Adcock of Smithville, TN. Son, Shannon (Jennifer) Adcock of Smithville, TN. Grandson, Nate Adcock of Smithville, TN. Parents, Mitchell (Imogene) Adcock of Smithville, TN. Sister, Loretta (Larry) Adcock of Smithville, TN. Father & Mother-in-law, Glen (Peggy) Hendrixson of Smithville, TN. Several friends & extended family also survive.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lighthouse Christian Camp or to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mr. Adcock.

Larry Houston Gwyn

December 8, 2022

Jacksonville, FL resident and Warren County, TN native Larry Houston Gwyn, age 69, was born December 6, 1952 and died December 2, 2022 at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN following a sudden illness.

A retired terminal manager from CSX Railroad and of the Church of Christ faith, he was the son of Thelma Gwyn of Smithville, TN and the late Leonard Gwyn, Jr. He was married to Eva Gwyn of Florida. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Leonard and Vera Willis Gwyn, Sr. and Hugh and Walsie Mercer Winton.

In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Gwyn is survived by daughter and son-in-law, LaShaun (Thad) Davenport of Nashville, TN; sister, Cathy (Steve) Officer of Smithville, TN; two brothers, James “Mickey” (Marion) Gwyn of Murfreesboro, TN and Mark Gwyn of Old Hickory, TN; two aunts, Fannie Biles and Jessie Ramsey, both of McMinnville, TN; uncle, Robert (Barbara) Gwynn of Murfreesboro, TN and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Central Church of Christ with Phillip Smith, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Warren County, TN. Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at High’s.

Robert “Bob” Russo

December 7, 2022

Robert “Bob” Russo age 88, of Smithville, passed away at his residence, on Monday December 5, 2022. He was born April 5, 1934, to his parents the late Nunzio “Tom” and Mary Polidoro Russo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepson, Albert James Voute, III; sister, Lucy Russo; 2 brothers, Alexander and Thomas Russo. He was a Pipe Fitter/ Plumber working more than 45 years Building Nuclear Power Plants in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas. He served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958 and was a member of the American Legion. He is survived by wife, Rita Russo of Smithville; stepdaughter, Barbara Voute. Funeral services and Military Honors will be held 2 PM Wednesday December 7, 2022, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. He will be laid to rest in Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Joe Howard Thomason

December 5, 2022

Joe Howard Thomason age 77 of Liberty, passed away Saturday night December 3, 2022 at his residence. He was born January 19, 1945 to his parents, the late William Howard and Hattie Summers Thomason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Harold, Paul and Frank Thomason; 3 sisters, Beck Gingerich, Peggy Keaton and Charlotte Hayes. Joe was a member of the Dowelltown Baptist Church and worked at Kingston Timers for 33 years. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Brenda Thomason of Liberty; daughter, Brittney (Carl) Schwartz of Sparta; son, Joe Thomason, Jr. Of Murfreesboro; 3 grandchildren, Bristol and Autumn Belle Redmon and Cody Thomason; 1 great-grandchild; brother, Jessie Thomason of Indiana; sister, Sue Trusty of Carthage and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 8 PM Monday, December 5, 2022 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Thomas Hale and Bobby Thomason officiating. Visitation will be Monday 10:AM until the time of the service at 8 PM. In lieu of flowers , the family ask that donations be made to Dowelltown Baptist Church playground fund, in memory of Joe. Mrs. Emogene “Jean” Knowles Robinson

December 5, 2022

Mrs. Emogene “Jean” Knowles Robinson, wife of Brisco Robinson, Age 85, passed away Tuesday November 30, 2022 in Cookeville, TN at Bailey Manor- Dementia Care Facility.

She was born in Smithville, TN to the late Orval and Virginia Miller. Jean was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife to her adoring family. Known to her grandchildren as “Momma Jean”, she was fiercely loyal to her family and was the epitome of a doting grandmother. Jean was a lifelong member of Brush Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Nashville, TN and also attended church regularly at Brenthaven Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Brentwood, TN where she resided for 30 years.

Jean was a successful business owner, learning her business savviness from being raised in her family-owned grocery store from a young age. Jean owned and operated Donna Jean Fashions in Bellevue where she poured her heart into so many of her customers and neighbors doing what she loved. In spite of being retired for the last 30 years, folks still reminiscence about her dress shop and the wonderful woman who owned it!

Emogene is preceded in death by her late husband James Reed Knowles and parents Orval and Virginia Miller.

She is survived by her loving husband Brisco Robinson, Smithville, TN; son Randy (Dianne) Knowles, Brentwood, TN; daughter Donna (Charlie) Hicks, Lebanon, TN; grandchildren Jason Knowles, Brentwood, TN; Tiffany (Justin) Adams Brentwood, TN; Ryan Knowles, Brentwood, TN; Donna Jean (Danny) Gann, White House, TN; Chris (Cindy) Hicks, Mt. Juliet, TN; great-grandchildren, Emily Adams, Avery Adams, Logan Gann, Lauren Gann, Olivia Hicks.

Graveside service with the family will be held on Tuesday December 7, 2022 at 11:00 am at Woodlawn Memorial Park 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204 with her nephew Jeff Knowles officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you might consider donating in her honor to Brush Hill Cumberland Presbyterian church, 3705 Brush Hill Rd. Nashville, TN 372116.
