Jaye graduated from DeKalb County High School in Smithville. She moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1974 to live the remainder of her life. She was a devoted member of Mountaintop Community Church in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
Jaye felt blessed to have two wonderful husbands. The first of these was James “Jim” Carl Ogden, Jr., to whom she was married in 1968. Jim and Jaye had two daughters, Kellie and Heather. The light of Jaye’s life was her grandchildren, J.D., Piper, Kai, Asher, Jackson, and Molly Kate. There was nothing Jaye loved more than making memories with her children and grandchildren. Jaye was a very successful businesswoman. She was the first Fannie Mae approved underwriter in the southeastern United States as well as the first woman to own a mortgage company in the state of Alabama. She was also the first single woman to become a full member of the Vestavia Hills Country Club.
Jaye sold her mortgage business, First General Lending, to Pinnacle Bank in 1997 and finished her career there as the Vice President of Mortgage Lending. She broke the glass ceiling and loved the role of training and supporting new loan officers.
