Mr. Herbert Rose, age 91, of Smithville passed away on Monday at his residence. Mr. Rose was a previous machine operator and a member of the Webbs Chapel Methodist Church. Mr. Rose was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Esmaree Rose; mother of his children, Sarah Rose; wife, Willodean Rose, and grandchild, Christopher Rose.
Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 4pm until 7pm and on Wednesday from 1pm until the time of service at 3:30. Bro. David Hill will officiate. Burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. We are not accepting any food in our facility in compliance with Covid regulations.
Survivors of Mr. Rose include 5 daughters, Gail Sherman of Cookeville, Lynn Hall of Cookeville, Carol and Bob Poole of Cookeville, Judy Rose of Smithville, and Brenda and Martin Winter of Smyrna; 4 sons, William and Brenda Rose of Cookeville, Thomas and Tina Rose of Brush Creek, Randy Rose of Sparta, Alvin and Linda Rose of Cookeville; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Frances Brown of Kentucky.

Lillie Cantrell Derting

Mrs. Lillie Cantrell Derting age 96 passed on Saturday at NHC Healthcare in Smithville. Mrs. Derting was a homemaker and of Methodist faith.
Mrs. Derting was preceded in death by her son- Glenn Cantrell and grandson- Scotty Ponder.
Visitation with the Derting family will be on Monday from 12 noon until the service time at 2:00. Funeral will be held at Love-Cantrell Chapel with burial in Burton Ponder Cemetery. Bro. Bryan Jones will officiate.
Survivors include 3 Sons- Paul Cantrell, Lewis & Peggy Cantrell of Smithville, Ralph & Debbie Cantrell of Wyoming. 1 Daughter- Helen & Yeghia Yeghiavan of Pulaski. Daughter-In-Law- Donna Cantrell of California. 10 Grandchildren- Jeannie Sue & Wayne Jones, Melissa & Fred Parrish, Alex Kilgore, Eric & Karen Agee, Sabrina St. John, Amy & Bruce Curtis, Ginger Ponder, Reece Cantrell, Keri Cantrell and Zac & Tara Cantrell. Several Great Grandchildren also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mitchell League Sr.

Mr. Mitchell League Sr. age 72 of Smithville passed away on Saturday at Ascension St. Thomas in Rutherford County. Mr. League was a retired maintenance worker with McDonald’s and a member of the Northside Church Of Christ. Mr. League was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in Vietnam. He was also a member of the Naptown Motorcycle Riders.
Mr. League was preceded in death by his mother- Alice League.
Visitation with the League family will be on Wednesday from 10 until time of the service at 12 noon. Bro. Burnace Lyons will officiate. Burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery.
Survivors of Mr. League include 2 Daughters- Michele League of Sparta and Farrah & Rohan League-Sutherland of FL. 2 Sons- Michael League of Sparta and Mitchell & Nickie League of Nashville. 9 Grandchildren, 4 Sisters- Teresa Sweatt of Smithville, Vanessa & Daniel Williams of TX, Karen & Gerald Hurd of Lebanon and Chris League of Smithville. Virgie Pauline Pollard Young

Ms. Virgie Pauline Pollard Young, age 85 of Sparta, formerly of Smithville, passed away at 5:45pm on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Virgie was born January 27, 1936 in Walling, Tennessee to the late Willie Lee “Shorty” and Zonnie Lee Luna Pollard. She was a retired garment factory worker. She enjoyed reading, bird watching and caring for her precious Chihuahua Rosie. She was an active member of the Amvets Ladies Auxiliary #101 in Smithville. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sons Ronnie Young, Lynn Allen Young and Bobby Lee Young; brothers Ed Pollard, Junior Pollard, Elijah Pollard and David Pollard; sister Dora Faye Pollard.
Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Gleen (Ruthie) Young, Keith (Diane) Young all of Sparta
Two daughters: Shirley (Joe) Brady, Deana (Charles) Miller all of Sparta
Daughter-in-law: Jan Young
Ten grandchildren

Two brothers: William Pollard of Smithville and Charles (Karen) Pollard of Sparta

A host of nieces and nephews also survive
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00pm Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Hensley Chapel Baptist Church with burial in Young Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 4:00pm Friday at the church. Buster Young and Dewey Young will officiate.
Brian Young, Wayne Allen Grantham, Jessie Young, Gregory Brymer, Zach Young, Jason Young and Justin Collins will serve as pallbearers.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hunter Funeral Home.
Brenda Faye Jones

Ms. Brenda Faye Jones, age 74, of McMinnville, TN passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at her residence.
Ms. Jones was born on June 22, 1946 in Huntsville, AL to her parents, the late Bernise and Hobert Jackson. She was a Baptist and a previous machine operator for Century Electric.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 3 pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home and burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 11am until the service time at 3pm. We are not accepting food in our kitchen facilities at this time.
Survivors include her husband, Calvin Douglas Jones of McMinnville; 1 daughter, Donna Overall of McMinnville; 1 son, Jim Blankenship of McMinnville; 4 grandchildren, Justin Hester of Smyrna, Cody Blankenship of Chattanooga, Alec Vilain of McMinnville, and Aidan Overall of McMinnville; 2 brothers, Paul Jackson of Maryland and Don Jackson of McMinnville; 2 Sisters-in-law, Regina and Ronnie Jennings and Tonya and Trent Kell all of McMinnville.

Albert H. Donnell

Albert H. Donnell passed away Monday, April 19, 2021 at his home where he had been lovingly cared for by his family. He was born December 11, 1938 in Lebanon, Tennessee to his late parents, Howard and Grace Vaught Donnell. Albert was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Malone Donnell, and their daughter, Tammy Donnell Griffin. A brother, James Bentley Donnell also preceded him.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan Donnell, and his son, Tony Donnell; grandchildren, Tara (Danny) Newlon, Brandon (Kalah) Donnell, Tyler Griffin, Travis (Amber) Donnell, Logan (Justin) Johnson, and Jacob Donnell; great-grandchildren, Carson and Collin Donnell, Eden and Hattie Donnell, Michael and Griffin Newlon and Harper Johnson; sister, Diane Warren; and son-in-law, Mike Griffin.
Albert spent more than 35 years in banking in DeKalb County and retired from Liberty State Bank in 1999. He served as the Mayor of Alexandria, Tennessee from 1975-1977 and was a 60-year member of the Alexandria Lodge No. 175. He was a member of the Auburntown Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 21, 2021 in the Chapel of Avant Funeral Home with Bro. David Dunn officiating. Interment will be at Hillview Cemetery with a Masonic service immediately following. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Kalah Donnell, Amber Donnell, Danny Newlon and Justin Johnson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
