Edna Ruth Hendrixson Colwell age 82 passed away Wednesday morning, Septmeber 2, 2020 at her daughters residence. She was born August 17, 1938 to her parents the late William Wiley and Connie Elvie Gibbs Hendrixson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, James Colwell; sister, Pauline Poss Cantrell; 3 brothers, Bill, Joe and Jack Hendrixson. Ms. Ruth worked at the shirt factory for 15 years and at Kingston Timers for 33 years and she was a member of Gospel Lighthouse Baptist Church and attended Covenant Baptist Church. She is survived by 2 children, David (Sue) Colwell of Dowelltown, and Diane (Terry) Hendrixson of Silver Point; 5 grandchildren, Angie Colwell (Scott) Campbell of Smithville, Suzanne (Jon) Harrison of Smithville, Tabitha Colwell(Tyler) Prohaska of Knoxville, Josh (Janda) Hendrixson of Smithville, Daniel Hendrixson (Natalie Martin) of Silver Point; 9 great-grandchildren, Trey Fuson, Ashton Campbell, Peyton Campbell, Alex Campbell, Peyton Young, Morgan (Jeremy) Taylor, Olive Prohaska-Colwell, Otto Prohaska-Colwell, Mackenzie Faith Hendrixson; 2 sisters-in-law, Gerry Hendrixson of Gallatin, Ellen Colwell of Dowelltown; several nieces and nephews also survive; special care givers, Beth Pedigo, Melba Vinson, Barbara Conaster, Tammy Pack, and Tiffany Huggins. Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday September 5, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Royce Martin and Bro. Michael Hale officiating with burial to follow in Snow Hill Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday September 4, 2020 4 PM until 7 PM and on Saturday 11:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. Due to the COVID-19, the Governors Executive Orders 38 and 51 and Social Distancing Guidelines; Our pews in the Chapel are marked off to respect the guidelines and allow approximately 100- 125 people for the service, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise Social Distancing. Dorothy Jean “Dot” Webb

Mrs. Dorothy Jean “Dot” Webb age 88 of Smithville, TN, died Saturday August 29, 2020 at her residence. She was born on May 21, 1932, in Smithville, TN, she was previously employed with Kingston Timers, and was of the Methodist faith. Mrs. Webb was preceded in death by her parents Monroe and Emma Cantrell Redmon, her brothers Clyde (Thelma) Redmon and Foster Redmon, and sister Mavaneen (Gene) Russell.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years Sanders Webb, her sister-in-law, Edith Nell Redmon, and several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
A graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 02, 2020 at Mt. View Cemetery. Elder Ricky Arnold will officiate. The family and friends will meet at the cemetery and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Mai Nell Slager

Mai Nell Slager age 88 of Alexandria passed away Friday night August 28, 2020 at NHC of Smithville. She was born September 6, 1931 to her parents the late, Bail and Agness Hale Herman. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Slager. Ms. Mai Nell worked in factories and was a business owner and a member of Mt. Moriah The Baptist Church. She is survived by her brother, Frank (Jean) Herman of Alexandria; nephew, Scott (Kim) Herman of Cookeville; great-nephew, Gabriel (Taylor) Herman of Baxter; brother-in-law, Doyle (Gail) Slager of Smithville; sister-in-law, Helen Nixon of Dowelltown; lots of relatives and friends who visited. A cousin Sam Herman, who visited her early in the morning almost every day while she was at NHC. Funeral services will be 2:PM Sunday August 30, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Leonard Herman and Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM. Due to COVID-19, the Governors Executive Orders 38 and 51 and Social Distancing Guidelines; Our pews in the Chapel are marked off to respect the guidelines and allow approximately 100- 125 people for the service, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise Social Distancing. Joseph “Joey” Parsley

Mr. Joseph “Joey” Parsley, age 50 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at his home in GA.
Joey was born on December 19, 1969 in Smithville, TN to his parents, Ruby Turner Parsley and the late Maxie Parsley. He was a mechanic with the Warner Robins Air Force Base and was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 3pm from the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday from 11am until the service time at 3pm.
Survivors include his Son- Noah Parsley of Smithville. Step-Son- Brandon (Kalah) Donnell of Smithville. Grandchildren- Brandon Carson Donnell & Collin Matthew Donnell both of Smithville. Mother- Ruby Parsley of Smithville. Sister- Lisa (John) Poole of Hendersonville. Brother- Jeremy (Sonya) Parsley of Smithville. Nieces & Nephews- Matthew Poole, Nick, Zack, & Maddison Parsley.

Mr. Kenneth Lee Bain age 65 of Smithville, passed away Monday, August 24, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born September 27, 1954 to his parents, the late Alton and Willie May Cantrell Bain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death a daughter, Stacey Powell; 2 sisters, Eva Roberts and Nina Self. Kenneth was a roofer and farmer and affiliated with the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Debra Lynn Bain of Smithville; 2 children, Nelda Bandy of Smithville and Kenny Bain, Jr. (Roxanne Landis) of Smithville; 6 grandchildren, Briana (Austin) Ellis. Gavin Bain, Braxton Bain, Jacob Bandy, Tanisha Bandy and Dayne Powell; 4 great-grandchildren, Alejandra and Isaiah Gutierrez, Aaron Bandy and Noah Bandy; 2 brothers, Toy “Buck” Bain of Smithville and James Bain of Baxter; 3 sisters, Dot Thaxton, Annett Bain and Doretta Taylor all of McMinnville; several half-brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 4:30 PM Thursday, August 27, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Joel Wood officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 4 PM until 7 PM and Thursday 1 PM until the time of the service at 4:30 PM. Mary Ann Atnip Biggs Yarman age 86 of Cookeville and a native of Smithville, passed away suddenly at her residence on Monday, August 24, 2020. She was born November 24, 1933 to her parents, the late Lonnie “L.S. and Eliza Lee Foutch Atnip. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Charles Biggs and Charles Yarman; 2 sons, T.R. Biggs and Patrick Biggs; grandson, Kristopher Goodbread and a brother, T.C. Atnip. Mary Ann was a homemaker and a member of the Cookeville First Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory, 1 daughter, Robin Biggs Goodbread of Nashville; 2 grandchildren, Allen Goodbread and Kesha Underwood; 7 great-grandchildren; step-children; 1 brother, Boyd (Emogene) Atnip of Smithville; 3 nieces and 2 nephews. Funeral services will be 11:AM Friday, August 28, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jordan Atnip officiating and burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville at 3 PM Friday. Visitation with the family will be on Friday 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Cookeville First Baptist Church, in memory of Mary Ann.
