James Matthews, age 73, of Liberty passed away on Wednesday, June 3 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5 at 11am at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with interment to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Bro. Bobby Thompson will be officiating the service. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday from 4-7pm and on Friday from 9am until the time of the service at 11. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed.
Mr. Matthews was born to the late John Oval and Betty Frances Murphy. He is also preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters: Martha Todd, Patrica Shoemake, Jena Hesson, Brenda Taylor, Helen Ervin, William Matthews, Willie Matthews & Terry Murphy; and 1 grandchild: Tyler Durden. He was also a retired foreman at Pirtle Nursery.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years Darlene Matthews of Liberty; 8 children: Debbie Nokes, Charlotte Parsley, Sherry (Wesley) Chandler, Darlene Grisham, Tonya (Shannon) Cantrell, Greg (Trudie) Matthews, Priscilla (Bobby) Mingle, & Chris (Dana) Stanley; 18 grandchildren: Jessica (Shannon) Anderson, Brandon (Kalah) Donnell, Noah Parsley, Amanda England, Dillan Matthews, Hannah Grisham, Justin Grisham, Kaylee Cantrell, Levi Cantrell, Christian Matthews, Zachery Matthews, Austin McCoy, Nikki (Joey) Pillow, Brittany (Gage) Mingle, Zackary Stanley, Caleb Gingeridge, Harlee Stanley & Seth Stanley; 12 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers and sisters: Pamela (Kevin) Cain, Roy (Debbie) Matthews, Randall Neal, Doug (Norma) Murphy & Kathy Murphy (Ruben Vega); 1 brother-in-law- Grady Taylor; and 1 sister-in-law- Rita Matthews; a host of nieces & nephews also survive.

Junior Wayne Estes

59 year old Junior Wayne Estes of White Bluff passed away April 2 at Tri Star Horizon Medical Center. He worked in Tree Service. A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. and burial will be in the Mt. Ararat Cemetery in the Pea Ridge Community. No visitation will be held. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Junior Estes and Susie Johnson Farris and two sisters, Diane Horn and Trena Barrett. Survivors include two sisters, Denise Maynard of Liberty and Renee Keaton of Smithville. Step dad, Robert and Paula Farris of Smithville. Three aunts, Nell Hale of Smithville, Eula Presley of McMinnville, Christine Murphy of Liberty and an uncle, Toy and Fay Lawson of Liberty. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has asked that anyone attending the service to please bring balloons to release if they would like.
Terry Gordon Cripps

Mr. Terry Gordon Cripps, age 76 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at his residence.
Terry was born on March 25, 1944 in Woodbury, TN to his parents the late Ray & Deli Mai Nokes Cripps. He was formerly a truck driver.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 1pm at Salem Cemetery in Liberty. There will be no visitation held at the funeral home. Family and friends will gather at the cemetery just prior to the 1pm graveside service.
Survivors include, 1 Daughter, Sherry Pennington of McMinnville. 2 Grandchildren, Jake & Katy Pennington both of McMinnville. 1 Brother, Bobby (Dianne) Cripps of Lebanon. Special Friends, Thomas (Terry) Anderson of Smithville.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in memory of Terry.

Marcy Lynn Beede

Marcy Lynn Beede age 67 of Dowelltown and formerly of Barre, Vermont, passed away Saturday May 29, 2020 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 30, 1953 to her parents, the late Wayne Alton and Alice Mae Corbett Breer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jim Brown and sister-in-law, June Breer. Marcy was a Supervisor with Capital Candy and a former hairdresser. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Francis Beede of Dowelltown; son, Adam Beede (Taylor Roddick) of Washington, Vermont; grandchildren, Colby Beede, Emma Beede, and Sarah Beede; sister, Cherie Brown of Smithville; Brother, Wayne (Maryann) Breer of Montpelier, Vermont; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. The family has honored Marcy’s request to be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Vermont. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the DeKalb Animal Coalition in Smithville or the Humane Society in Barra, Vermont. Norman Hendrix age 64 of Smithville, passed away Monday, June 1, 2020 at his residence. He was born October 17, 1955 to his parents, Oliver “Man” and Ruth Arnold Hendrix. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 siblings, Linda Foster, Brenda Walker and Junior Hendrix. Norman was a member of the Smithville Church of God, retired from Carrier Corporation with over 29 years and enjoyed hunting. He is survived by his wife, Anita Hendrix of Smithville; 2 children, Brittany (Jason) Moseley of Smithville, Caleb Hendrix (Christy) of Smithville; 2 step-children, Anthony (Kelly) Primm of Nashville, Chase Moore (Nick) of Smithville; 6 grandchildren, Hailey Moseley, Alyssa Hendrix, Kaylee Moseley, Bucksley Haney, Cass Foltz and Blakelyn Hendrix; siblings, Beecher (Phyllis) Hendrix of Hendersonville, Aubrey Hendrix of Rock Island, Carolyn Whitlock of McMinnville, David (Coletta) Hendrix of McMinnville, Frank (Lorene) Hendrix of Rock Island, Jimmy Hendrix of Smithville, Anthony (Anita) Hendrix of Smithville, Phillip (Peggy) Hendrix of Smithville, Lisa (Lee) Byford of Dowelltown; mother of his children, Donna Hendrix of Smithville and many nieces and nephews. Due to COVID-19, the Governor’s Executive Order 38 and Social Distancing Guidelines, Funeral Services will be 3 PM Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Donnie Kelly officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. The funeral service will be Live-streamed on DeKalb Funeral Chapel Facebook page. We have the Chapel Pews marked for 50% capacity to honor Social Distancing Guidelines. Anyone attending visitation or service, please adhere to Social Distancing Guidelines for the health and safety of everyone. Flint Wilson Gilley, Jr. age 35 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday night, May 26, 2020 at his residence. He was born May 24, 1985 to his parents, Flint Wilson Gilley, Sr. and Kristi Judkins Walter. Wilson was preceded in death by his grandparents, Buddy Judkins, Ann Foutch Summers, Wilson and Margaret Gilley and a cousin, Anthony White. He was Non-denominational, served in the U.S. Air Force and worked at SAIC in Cookeville. He had several certificates in computer classes and was a computer technician. Survivors include his father, Flint Wilson Gilley, Sr. of Smithville; mother, Kristi Judkins Walter of LaVergne; sister, Brandy Gilley of Murfreesboro; 2 nephews, Connor and Henry and 1 niece, Aubrey; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. The family has chosen a direct cremation and no services are planned at this time. You may send condolences to the family on the funeral home website.
