Earl Wayne Raymond age 72 of Smithville passed away Monday, October 7, 2019 at his residence. He was born August 18, 1947 to his parents, the late B.L. and Helen West Raymond. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Raymond. Earl was a member of the Mt. Hope The Baptist Church and a nurseryman. He is survived by 2 sons, Brian (Kristin) Raymond of Kentucky and Adam (Amy) Raymond of Smithville; 4 grandchildren, Thomas Raymond, Brianna Raymond, Aniston Raymond, Alexis Raymond; 2 sisters-in-law, Flora Mai Adcock and Marie (Jimmy) Taylor both of Smithville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, October 11, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dwight Knowles officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday 4 PM until 8 PM and Friday 9 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Whorton Springs Cemetery Fund, in memory of Mr. Earl. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Joshua William Murphy the 6 month infant son of Patricia Sowell and Cody Murphy, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019 at his residence. In addition to his parents, he is survived by 1 sister, Maliyah Murphy; grandparents, Darrell (Brandy) Murphy of Murfreesboro, Dawn Murphy of Florida, William Sowell (Amy Hunter) of Nashville, and Kristi Olvey (Shane Dawson) of Liberty; great-grandparents, Clara Murphy of Smithville, Sharon Tingay (Jimmy Campbell), Hazel Johnson of Smithville, and Harold Murphy of Smithville; several aunts and uncles also survive. Funeral services will be 12 Noon Thursday, October 10, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ric Lee officiating and burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday 9:AM until the time of the service at 12 Noon. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Kathryn Byford age 74 of the Short Mountain Community, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at her residence. She was born May 21, 1945 in Kentucky. Kathryn was a nurse at DeKalb Hospital and was affiliated with the Brethren In Christ Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John R. Byford and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by 2 children, George Lee (Lisa) Byford of Dowelltown and Deanna (Stacy) Guy of Sparta; 8 grandchildren, John Curtis Adams, Jarrett Adams, Jesse Adams, Johnathon Byford, Brandon Byford, Heather Wilson, Daniel Wilson, Jennia Wilson; 10 great-grandchildren, Gavin Adams, Shaylah Dowell, Autumn Byford, Jasmine Byford, Trent Byford, Riley Simms, Adikus Cox, Brayden Lawson, Kegan Ruthledge and Mykenzie Wilson; sister, Wanda Petersen of Texas; special nephew, David Gipson and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:AM Saturday, October 12, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Larry Steffee officiating and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Clara May Wilkey age 67, passed away Monday October 7, 2019 at her residence in Smithville. She was born March 12, 1952 to her parents the late Henry H. and Ruby Elizabeth Thomason Hale. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 2 infant siblings; sister-in-law, Cynthia Hale. Mrs. Wilkey was a homemaker and attended Gospel Lighthouse Church. She is survived by her husband, Phillip Wilkey of Smthville; daughter, April Wilkey; step-daughter, Candida Snead; step-sons, R. J. Wilkey, and J. P. Wilkey; 3 step-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Steve (Linda) Hale, Thomas Ray “Red” Hale, Betty (Lonnie) Pack, Leroy (Penny) Hale, Charlie (Ellen ) Hale, Pauline Crook, John (Candy) Hale; a host of nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews who loved her dearly; special nurses, Beverly Cook, Pam Parham, Christiana Pagano. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday October 11, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Richard Edwards officiating and burial to follow in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Funeral services for Myrtie Ann Evins Doak age 85 of Shelbyville, formerly of Lebanon will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, October. 9, 2019 at Partlow Funeral Chapel in Lebanon, Tennessee. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Ms. Myrtie Ann passed from this life early Sunday morning, Oct. 6, 2019 at the Waters Nursing Home in Shelbyville, after an extended illness.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 11:00am until the service time at 1:00pm at Partlow Funeral Chapel.
Born March 15, 1934 in Smithville, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late William Jackson “Dub” Evins, Sr. and Estelle McCartney Evins and was preceded in death by son, Ronnie Doak, four infant children and grandson Jeremy Doak and brothers, William Jackson “Jack” Evins, Eddie Evins & Danny Evins.
After many years of struggling with life in general, Myrtie Ann went to a rehab facility and after her treatment, began a life of helping others. She was first associated with Kowla Treatment Centers and later work for Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores with their in house employee help services. After many years of working for other employers, she went out on her own and started the Ann E. Doak Addiction & EAP Services in Lebanon. After a series of strokes, which disabled her, she moved into the Hearthside Assisted Living where she was on the Board of Directors. Some 4 years later her condition required her to move into a nursing facility in Shelbyville.
Survivors include her sons; Charlie Doak, Jr. of Lebanon, Bill (Martha) Doak of Shelbyville and Andy (Melissa) Doak of Tullahoma, daughter in law, Gwendolyn Doak of Lebanon, 20 grandchildren & 37 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

James Daniel “Danny” Green age 66 of the Belk Community of DeKalb County, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. He was born January 31, 1953 to his parents, the late Austin Elijah and Sarah Edna Rankhorn Green. He was a mechanic. Danny is survived by his wife, Mary Green of Smithville; 2 children, Jonathan (Twana) Green and Jeremy (Donna) Green both of Smithville; 1 grandchild, Rylin Green; 2 step-grandchildren, Justin Atnip and Trista Atnip; 2 brothers, Jerry (Melissa) Green and Anthony Green both of Rock Island; half-brother, Larry Green of Smithville; 2 nephews, Zachery and Kevin Green; 1 niece, Angela Jackson. Visitation with the family will be Monday 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and then the family will honor Mr. Green’s request to be cremated. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
