71 year old Dianna Beers of Smithville passed away Friday, September 13 in Montana. She was a member of the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist church and a retired florist. A celebration of life will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church. Visitation will be Saturday from 2 p.m. until the service at 3:30 p.m. at the church. Dianna was a precious lady who had the warmest smile. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed the great outdoors. She chose to live life to the fullest and be a good friend to all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Harry Beers of Smithville. Daughter, Donna Beers of Lascassas. A son, James and Krissa Beers of Georgia. Four grandchildren, Benjamin Hill of Shelbyville, Tyler Hill of Lascasses, Daniel Rogers of Georgia and Hannah Beers of Georgia. One sister, Frankie and Ron Kilby of North Carolina and close friends, Brian and Stacey Leiser. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Leonard Redman age 68, passed away Tuesday September 24, 2019 at N. H.C. in Smithville. He was born July 10, 1951 to his parents, the late Charles L. and Ina Mai Maxwell Redman. Mr. Redman preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Redman; parents, Charles and Ina Mai Redman; sister, Linda Judkins. He was a member of Bright Hill United Methodist Church and was a carpenter. He is survived by his children, Angelia (Kevin) Harvey of Lebanon, Ashley (Mike) Lich of Old Hickory; grandchildren, Kailey Harvey, Wyatt Harvey, Gavin Lich, and Ava Grace Lich; brother-in-law, Hooper Judkins of Smithville; sister-in-law, Linda Sutton of Smithville; nephew, Greg (Melaine) Judkins of Smithville; great niece and great nephew, Amber and Ethan Judkins; several cousins and friends also survive. Funeral services will be Friday September 27, 2019 at 11:AM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Andy Estes and Bro. Dennis Wood officiating with burial to follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday September 26, 2019 at 1:PM until 8:PM and on Friday September 27, 2019 at 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. The family has asked in lieu of flowers donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
David Medley

David Medley, age 64 of Smithville passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital. Mr. Medley was a member of Smithville First Baptist Church, and worked as a Tool and Die Maker. He was preceded in death by parents Jack and Ruby Vanderpool Medley. Survivors include his wife of 41 years Annette Medley, Daughter Cindy Cole and Justin Hale, Son Louie Jack and Constance Medley all of Smithville, 3 Grandchildren Mason and Ethan Medley, and Justin Hale. 2 Brothers Bruce and Susan Medley, and Ricky and Siggi Medley all of Smithville, and a Sister-in-law Patti and Jim Coe of Lascassas.
Funeral Services for David Medley will be Tuesday, September 24th at 1 PM in the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with Brother Chad Ramsey officiating, and burial to follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday 12PM till 8PM, and Tuesday 10AM till the time of the service at 1PM. In addition to flowers please make donations to Smithville First Baptist Church Youth Group. Patsy Goodman age 53, of Smithville passed away Friday morning, September 20, 2019 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. She was born August 10, 1967 in Smithville. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Shirley Pedigo and infant brother, Richard Fletcher. She worked at Arnold Marine Canvas and Upholstery and was affiliated with the Keltonburg United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, William “Jed” Goodman of Smithville; son, Travis (Bethany) Bogle of Smithville; grandchildren, Landon Colwell, Mckayla Colwell, Madison Bogle, Nicolas Bogle; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Pat Goodman; sisters, Julie (Larry) Brown, Margie (Bobby) Hale and Joyce (John) Lyons; brothers, Willie Pascal and Larry (Paula) Pedigo, Jr. ; several nieces, nephews and other family members; special friends, Sue Wheeler and Sondja McLaughlin. The funeral will be Thursday, September 26 at 3 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with David Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Young Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until the service at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. 70 year old Paul Herman Caldwell of Smithville passed away Wednesday at his residence. He was a member of the New Life Pentecostal Church, a nurseryman, and he worked at Federal Mogul. The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dewayne Cornelius will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Caldwell was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Caney and Clara Mae Lawson Caldwell. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Opal Virginia Caldwell; two sons, Marcus Caldwell and Michael and Diana Caldwell all of Smithville. Grandchildren, Ashly Caldwell, Drew and Shelby Caldwell, and Isaac Caldwell. A brother, Ricky and Brenda Caldwell. Four sisters, Mildred Judkins, Jodie Cole, Patricia Graves, and Evelyn and Terry Lawson. Six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Betty Marie Pryor age 89 of Watertown died Sunday afternoon, Sept. 15, 2019 at her residence. Born Feb. 16, 1930 in Sparta, TN, she was the daughter of the late Dayton and Maggie Johnson Patton and she was preceded in death by her first husband, Troy Vanatta, brothers, Jerry, Harold and Dr. William Patton and a stepson, Stephen Eugene Pryor. Betty was a homemaker and a member of Shop Springs Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Pryor of Watertown; daughters, Wanda (John) Craig of Knoxville, Gay (Jerry Paul) Vanatta of Watertown and Amy (Guy) Buckner of Brush Creek; grandchildren, Tim (Nicole) Craig, Todd (Jennifer) Craig, Libby (Daniel Kelly) Vanatta, Jeremy (Sarah) Vanatta, Ethan (Guiliani) Vanatta, Amber, Hannah and Chloe Buckner; great grandchildren, Graham Porter, Laurel and Nicholas Craig, Rachel, William, Lydia and Kate Vanatta; sister, Ann (Dan) Scales of Murfreesboro; brother, Wayne (Sandra) Patton of Lebanon; nieces and nephews; step-children, David Pryor and Janice Smallwood both of Lebanon and several step-grandchildren. Funeral services 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Bo Irvin officiating. Interment will follow at the Vanatta Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
