Glen Dale Stoner

Glen Dale Stoner age 71 of McMinnville passed away Thursday evening September 13, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Nashville.  He was born May 13, 1947 to his parents, the late Grover Cleveland and Dorothy Stovall Stoner.  He was Marine veteran, nursery worker and a member of Smithville Church of Christ.  In addition to his parents, Glen was also preceded in death by a grandson Carter Stoner.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday September 16, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dan Gulley officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Sunday from noon until the time of the funeral at 2 p.m.  Survivors include his wife of 49 years Jeanette Sparkman Stoner of McMinnville; 3 Children: Steve (Christina) Stoner of Dallas, TX, Allen (Hailey) Stoner of Atlanta, GA., Chris Stoner of McMinnville; Grandchildren: Alex Stoner, Clara Stoner, Ava Stoner, Parker Stoner, Matthew Stoner; 8 Siblings; Several nieces and nephews also survive.  In addition to flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice, in memory of Mr. Glen.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Jamye Sue Maples Atnip

60 year old Jamye Sue Maples Atnip of Smithville passed away Thursday at her residence. She was a retired factory worker and a Baptist. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with burial in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Jordan Atnip and Donald Owens will officiate. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. Ms. Atnip was preceded in death by her parents, James and Peggy Young Maples and one sister, Mary Wilson. Survivors include her son, Eric and Beth Atnip of Smithville; grandchildren, Wyatt and Elias Atnip of Smithville; sister, LouAnn and Jimmy Midgett of Dowelltown; brother, Joey Maples of Smithville; special friend and father of her son, Dennis Atnip. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.




Kaye Natheene Bowman Crandall

Kaye Natheene Bowman Crandall age 58 of Smithville passed away Thursday morning, August 30, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness.  She was born June 19, 1960 in Whitwell, TN, the 8th of 12 children.  Natheene was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan Earl and Mary Christine West Bowman; and 1 brother, Roger Wilson Bowman.  She was a 1979 graduate of DeKalb County High School.  Natheene was a highly skilled and gifted hair stylist and makeup artist for many years having worked at Just A Hair Better and Vivian’s in Smithville, TipTop Salon in Mt. Juliet and was a Paul Mitchell Representative for many years.  She also made intricate, handmade memory books and albums and was very good at her craft.  Natheene was a dedicated witness of Jehovah.  She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 4, 1973.  She and her husband attended the Smithville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Natheene was a beautiful woman inside and out, with a youthful and contagious spirit.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 22 years, Craig Crandall of Smithville; 4 sisters, Deborah Anne (Bobby) Williams of Cookeville, Martha Lucinda Bowman of Baxter, Melonie Sue (Eric) DeVries of Smithville, Angela Marie (David) Vettraino of Smithville; 6 brothers, Jack (Joan) Bowman of Colorado, Dennis James (Ramona) Bowman of Lebanon, Nathan Earl Bowman, Jr. of Smithville, George Kendrell Bowman of Sebastian, FL, Arthur Randall (Diane) Bowman of Manchester and Michael Wayne (Lisa) Bowman of Smithville; 2 sisters-in-law, Dee Tatum of Lawrenceburg, TN and Lori Jo Bowman of Smithville; many special nieces and nephews who loved her very much and finally her beloved dog, Lilli Bee.  The family has honored Natheene’s request to be cremated.  A Memorial Service will be held 3:PM, Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Smithville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Tony Price officiating.  In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Natheene’s memory to the Worldwide Work of the Jehovah’s Witnesses either through the local congregation or JW.org.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel in in charge of the arrangements.




Mary “Wink” Pack

Mary “Wink” Pack age 80 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday morning, September 12, 2018 at Alive Hospice at Skyline in Madison.  She was born January 14, 1938 to her parents, the late Charlie Lee and Lillie Grace Martin Green.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Moore and David Pack; 4 children, Michael Moore, Tony Moore, Teresa Johnson and Jill Kennedy; 3 sisters, Leotra Cantrell, Peggy Turner and Geneva Green; 5 brothers, Leon, C.L., Pete, J.L. and Lonnie Green.  She was a Baptist and a retired factory worker.  Wink is survived by 2 children, Diane Austin of Mt. Juliet and Jason Moore of Smithville; 9 grandchildren, Adam Austin, Rhianna Austin, Chrissy Moore, Dawn Moore, Dustin Johnson, Tony Moore, Christian Moore, Courtney Whittaker and Ben Whittaker; several great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; 1 sister, Margaret (Russell) Norton of Smithville; 2 brothers, David (Diane) Green of McMinnville and John (Robin) Green of Spencer; several nieces and nephews also survive.  Funeral services will be conducted 4:PM Friday, September 14, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.  Visitation with the family will be on Thursday 3:PM until 8:PM and Friday 10:AM until the time of the service at 4:PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Remega Kaye Nelson

Remega Kaye Nelson age 59 of Graysville, TN passed away Tuesday night, September 11, 2018 at her residence.  She was born February 15, 1959 to her parents, George Walton Combs and Mary Ella Bilbrey Combs Halferty.  She was preceded in death by 3 children, Michelle Beasley, Leighanne Cripps and Nickey Reese, Jr. and 1 brother, George Thomas Combs.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Sequoya Holiness Church.  Survivors include her husband, Kelly Nelson of Graysville, TN; 3 grandchildren, Madison Leigh Cripps, Kaylor Landon Reese and Megiabell Leighanne South; mother, Mary Halferty of Dayton, OH; father, George Combs of Miamisburg, OH; 2 sisters, Lola Marie Centeno and Dana Lynn Plewe both of Dayton, OH; 2 brothers, Richard Walton Combs of Bellbrook, OH and Donald Edward Halferty of Dayton, OH.  Funeral services will be conducted 2:PM Friday, September 14, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be on Friday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements




Sherry Gail Parkerson

Sherry Gail Parkerson age 76 of Smithville, died Thursday morning, Sept. 13, 2018 at her home. Born Sept. 19, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Alfred Hays and Lula Reeves Clayborn Hays. Sherry was preceded in death by her husbands, M.B. Parkerson and Jim Parkerson; sons, Michael Bryan Parkerson and Toy Eugene Parkerson; brother, Jimmy Hays and her grandparents, Valta and Jessie Hays. She was a 1959 graduate of Watertown High School and was employed for 32 years at Nashville Baptist Hospital as Assistant Director of Medical Records. She was a member of Pilgram The Baptist Church in Hermitage. Sherry is survived by her daughters, Shirley Parkerson of Murfreesboro and Lynn (Johnny) Adcock of Smithville; daughter-in-law, Tracie Parkerson of Hermitage; grandchildren, Carrie Jo (J.R.) Faultner of Flagstaff, AZ, Matt Bennett of Tullahoma, Mitchell Bennett of Manchester, Bryan (Megan) Parkerson of Knoxville, Kai Parkerson of Nashville, Tyler (Crystal) Parkerson and Will Parkerson both of Hermitage; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Jackson (Kathy) Hays of Auburntown; sisters-in-law, Ruby Parkerson and Carol Hays; brother-in-law, John (Ruth) Reynolds; nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend, Gerald Glover and family of Hendersonville. Funeral services 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2018 at Hunter Funeral Home of Watertown with Bro. Neil Pennycuff and Bro. Frank Randolph officiating. Visitation beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Grandson will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers, Carl and Kenneth Bailey, John Gribble, Bruce Baker, Oscar Fields, Dave Foster, Zack Criscoe, Steve Fullerton, Jeff Dechard.
