Barry Muller

76 year old Barry Muller of Smithville passed away Tuesday at his residence. He was a retired truck driver. A memorial service is to be Saturday, October 13 at 3:00 p.m. at the Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Violet Brown Muller; brother, Carl Muller, Jr.; sister, Carol Shaffer and stepson James Carl Baisley. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lynn Muller and daughter, Jennifer Williams both of Martinsville, Indiana. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.




Perry Alton “Tony” Stembridge

Perry Alton “Tony” Stembridge, 57, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2018 at Alive Hospice. He was a native of Cannon Co., Tn.  He is survived by his father, Harold D. Stembridge of Woodbury; siblings, Terry (Pam) Stembridge and Sherry (Andy) Gay all of Woodbury; son, Samuel Moss Stembridge of Gordonsville; nieces and nephews, Kyle, Mandy and Amelia Gay; Jessica, Jonathan, Kyler, Bella, Jon and Gabriella Byson; Jason and Tosha Stembridge; Tabitha and Jacob Pope; Eddie “Bud” and Monica Colwell; Terra and Tamra Stembridge. Perry was preceded in death by his mother, Mamie Lou Bogle Stembridge, Brother, Barry Stembridge; and grandparents, John D. Bogle, Sr. and Pauline Ledbetter Bogle, Samuel Stephen and Mary Susan Harrell Stembridge.  A member of the Baptist church, he was a Carpenter and worked in construction.  Tony was a talented artist who loved his horses and dogs.  His daddy was his best friend.  Funeral services will be 2 pm Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Mitchell officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wood Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018 from 2 pm until 8 pm. Phyllis Faye Cantrell

September 10, 2018

67 year old Phyllis Faye Cantrell of Smithville passed away Saturday at Alive Hospice Madison. She was a Baptist and a retired employee of the Webb House. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. David Tramel and Bobby Thomason will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Cantrell was preceded in death by her parents, Grady Lee and Christine Johnson Tramel. Survivors include a son, Ryan and Tina Cantrell of Smithville. A daughter, Ashley and Shannon Lepley of Cottontown. Four grandchildren, Tyler Cantrell of Smithville, Cameron Lepley of Cottontown, Tanner Cantrell of Smithville, and Ashton Lepley of Cottontown, Two sisters, Trish and Jerry Killian of Knoxville and Donna Puckett of Smithville. Brother, Ronnie and Phyllis Tramel of Smithville. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Patricia Ann Lawson

September 9, 2018

Patricia Ann Lawson age 62, of Smithville, passed away September 7, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. She was born April 9, 1956 to her late parents Alfred Kenneth and Thelma Jean Lawson Herman. In addition to the parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Kenny Ray Herman, James Eddie Herman, Bobby Lynn Herman; sisters, Carolyn Sue Herman, Mannie Denise Herman, and Lisa Gail Mingus. She was a lifelong homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Lee Lawson of Smithville; children, Jerry Lynn (Marie) Lawson, Tim (Christy) Lawson, and Brandy Lawson all of Smithville; grandchildren, Nathan (Kelly) Lawson, Megan Fitts, Haley Fitts, Isaac Lawson, Jacob Lawson, Bryson Lawson, Brayden Lawson; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Crabtree, Cassie Taylor, and Brittany Venerable; 2 sisters, Frances (Joel) Adcock and Brenda (Stevie) Cripps; special family member, Joe Fitts, Jr.; several nieces and nephews and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law also survive. Funeral services will be Tuesday September 11,2018 at 3:PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Charlie Lawson officiating and burial to follow in the Bonham Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Monday 10:AM until 8:PM and Tuesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 3:PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements




Carlos DeWayne Davis

Carlos DeWayne Davis age 57, of Smithville, passed away Thursday night September 6, 2018 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was born September 2,1961 to his mother, Shirley Davis. He worked as a maintenance tech at Stones River Hospital in Woodbury, he also attended Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mr. Davis also served in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Melinda Vanatta-Davis of Smithville; children, Sean Phillip Davis of Madisonville, KY., Loni Easterwood of Smithville, and Johnna Maynard of Smithville; grandchildren, Kaden McPherson, Amalee McPherson and Matthew Orcutt, Jr.; mother, Shirley Segovia of Kentucky; brother, Tim Segovia of California, Funeral services will be on Monday September, 10, 2018 at 1:PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in Banks Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday 2 PM until 8 PM and Monday 10 AM until the time of the service at 1PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Edith Lowe

September 7, 2018

Funeral services for Edith Maynard Lowe, 99, of Baxter, will be Sunday, September 9 at 2 PM from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will be in New Home Baptist Church Cemetery in the Boma Community.

Mrs. Lowe went to be with her Lord, Thursday evening, September 6, 2018 at NHC of Cookeville.
She was born October 14, 1918 in Putnam County to the late Lem and Effie Shanks Brown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Floyd Maynard and Iva Truman Lowe, son-in-law Jimmy Ray Dyer, daughter-in-law Lucretia Sutton Maynard, infant brother Willie Brown, grandson Larry Ray Maynard, step-granddaughter Angela Joy Huddleston.

She was a charter member of Buckner Community Church (now Buckner Freewill Baptist Church) where she had served as Church Treasurer and Children’s Sunday School Teacher.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her flowers and working in the garden before her health declined. She loved her Lord, reading her Bible, going to church and gospel singings. She was a great cook and loved being with her family and spending time with them.

Survivors include daughter Shelby Dyer of Baxter, son Harold Loyd Maynard of Nashville, 3 grandchildren: Harold Ralph (Sheri) Maynard of Baxter, James Darren (Chrissy) Maynard of Cookeville, Vicky (Mark) Walker of Alexandria, step-daughter Judy (Fowler) Low, step-granddaughter Charlotte Huddleston (Al) DeVasher of Hendersonville, great-grandchildren: Beth, Rachel, Taylor, Abby and Alex Maynard, Hailey and Brett Walker, Carley and Noah DeVasher and Sam Fountain, many cousins and special friends.

Bro. Terry Bryant will officiate.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 8 PM and after 10 AM Sunday at the funeral home.
