George R. Bibby age 78 of Smithville, passed away Thursday morning at NHC HealthCare in Smithville. He was born November 17, 1945 to his parents, the late John Bennie and Ollie Mae Bibby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Clent Bibby; brothers, Bennie, Lawrence, Charles, John, David and Cecil; sister, Linda Fay Bibby. He was retired from Federal Mogul. He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Bibby of Smithville; daughter, Linda Fay Bibby of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Jonathan Knowles, Tiffany Jones, Billy Martin, Beth Buck and Shawn Buck; great-grandchildren, Damien Martin, Cheyenne Martin, Ilyris Taylor, Cain Andrew Buck, Keith Buck, Avery Buck and Shawna Anna Buck; brother, Ervin Bibby of Murfreesboro. Graveside services and interment will be 1 PM Monday, August 19, 2024 at Hodge Cemetery with Billy Martin officiating. Visitation will be Monday 11:AM until 12:30 PM at which time Mr. Bibby will be taken to Hodge Cemetery for the graveside service. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Bibby Family.
Marcie Jean Alsobrooks

Marcie Jean Alsobrooks, age 50 of Dowelltown, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Ascension St. Thomas in Rutherford county. She attended New Home Baptist Church and was a healthcare worker.
She was born on October 30, 1973 in Kilgore, Texas. She is preceded in death by her father; Kenneth Douglas Young.
The family has chosen direct cremation and there will be no visitation or service.
Survivors include her mother; Lucy Parrish Young of Dowelltown, 2 fur children; Boo Boo & Peanut. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Danny Ray “Speedy” Fish, Sr.

Danny Ray “Speedy” Fish, Sr., age 65 of Smithville, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Ascension St. Thomas in Rutherford county. He was retired from Carrier and a carpenter with Holmes Construction. He was also the founding member of Clean and Serene NA. He enjoyed comforting the residents of the nursing home by regularly taking his dogs Gator and Sally Mae for visits.
Mr. Fish was born on October 27, 1958 in Bowling Green, KY to his parents, the late Marlin and Pauline Fish. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Michael Edward Fish and Jerry Fish; and 1 sister, Judy Fish.
Visitation, as well as a celebration of life, will be in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home on Sunday, August 18 from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 2:00 pm with Bro. Chris Moore officiating. Following the service, the family will honor his wishes to be cremated.
Survivors of Mr. Fish include his wife, Regina Fish of McMinnville; son, Danny (Nicole) Fish of McMinnville; 4 daughters, Brandi (Tony) Bennett of Virginia, Kayla (Phil) Gouge of Johnson City, Kirsten (Adam) Cunningham of McMinnville, Lindsay (Ben) Powell of McMinnville; 2 sisters, Janice (David) Stewart and Tanna (Tony) Harris all of Smithville; 7 grandchildren, Devin Fish and Karah Fish of McMinnville, Noah Gouge of Johnson City, Parker Powell and Riley Powell of McMinnville, Addi Bennett, and Charlie Bennett of Virginia; and special friend, Mike West of McMinnville.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations please be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
Preston Lee Ingram

22-year-old Preston Lee Ingram of Smithville died Tuesday at Saint Thomas West in Nashville. He was a flagger for Patriot Safeguard. Visitation will be Saturday from 3 until 7 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home with a celebration of life Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the Sandlin Center at the DeKalb County Fairgrounds. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jorg Cordet; Uncle Branger Ingram and his father-in-law, Thomas Dwayne T.D. Thomason. He is survived by his wife Charity; Children Anna and Harmony; mother and father, Brody and Coletta Ingram; brothers and sisters, Jaxon Ingram, Brooklyn Ingram, and Brianna and Brett Gregory; and grandmothers Carmelia Ingram and Pee Wee Cordet. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.
Dorothy Jean Young

Dorothy Jean Young age 96 of Smithville, passed away at Tuesday morning at the Webb House in Smithville. She was born April 16, 1928, to her parents the late Harold Mason and Louvella Tittsworth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Smoot Young, Sr.; sons, Billy Smoot “Bill” Young, Jr. and Joe Mason Young; sister, Bobbie Lynn Betty. Ms. Young was a faithful member of the Smithville Church of Christ and a homemaker. She is survived by daughter, Laura Lynn (John) Carter of McMinnville; grandchildren, Andrew (Trista) Carter, Caroline (Tyler) Cantrell, Matt (Brandi) Young, and Josh Young; great-grandchildren, Emberly and Ethan Carter, Carter, Parker, and Reese Cantrell, Destiny (Jesse) Hanley, Brianna Young, Kylie Young, Matt Young, Jr.; sister-in-law, Betty Sue Young. Graveside services will be 3 PM Thursday August 15, 2024, at DeKalb Memorial Gardens, with Billy Willingham and Bro. Dan Gulley officiating. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery. In addition to flowers donations may be made to either the Smithville Church of Christ or Day School or the American Heart Association. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Webb House and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care shown Ms. Young. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Young family.
Robert “Bob” George Ley

Robert “Bob” George Ley age 94 of Smithville, passed away Sunday August 11, 2024, at NHC Healthcare in Smithville. He was born July 20, 1930, to his parents the late George and Ellen Campbell Ley. Mr. Ley was a member of the Smithville Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He and his wife served as missionaries for a few years. He was a CRNA and worked at DeKalb Hospital for many years. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Rosemarie Ley of Smithville; daughter, Brenda Van Cleave of Chattanooga; grandson, Michael Van Cleave; granddaughter, Shelly Van Cleave; brother, (Bill) William Ley of Henderson, KY; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services will be held 1 PM Thursday August 15, 2024, at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Pastor Dennis Clark officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery, there will not be any services at the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Ley family.
