Ms. Brittany Lynn Schemmer, age 37 of Smithville, TN passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.
Ms. Schemmer was born on September 6, 1985 in Nashville, TN to her parents, Joseph Blossom & Cindy Furline Lloyd. She was a member of the Smithville Church of God & was formerly employed at Shiroki North America.
Survivors include her 5 Children, McKenzie Driggers, Elizabeth Driggers, Bethany Driggers & Devon Driggers all of Centerville, TN, & Jessamay Schemmer of Smithville, TN. Father, Joseph (Cynthia) Blossom of Smithville, TN. Mother, Cindy (Steve) Lloyd of Sparta, TN. Sister, Amanda (Michael) Peek of Dickson, TN. Brother, Eric (Misty) Sharpe of Cookeville, TN. Several Nieces & Nephews also survive.
The family has chosen direct cremation. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at the First Assembly of God in Smithville.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations please be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.

Harold Luna

Mr. Harold Luna, age 84, of Smithville, TN passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022 at NHC Healthcare in Smithville, TN.
Mr. Luna was born on December 1, 1938 to his parents, the late Brackett & Era Barnes Luna. Also preceding him in death is his wife, Lynda Luna & a sister, Ponzell Ursery.
Mr. Luna, or “Coach Luna” as he was affectionately known, was a Teacher and coached DeKalb County High School Basketball from 1964 – 1989. His overall reward was 516-179 as girls and then boys basketball coach. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, TWSWA Coaches Association & the New Union The Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 2pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Visitation with the Luna family will be on Wednesday, from 1:00pm until 7:00pm and on Thursday, from 9:00am until the service time at 2:00pm. Bro. Keith Sims & Bro. Garry McBride will officiate and burial will be in New Union Cemetery.
Survivors include 2 Sons, Rocky (Julie) Luna of Omaha, NE & Bradley “Buck” Luna of Smithville, TN. 8 Grandchildren, Courtney (Chris) Blanchard of Manchester, TN, Alexis Krehbiel, Lindsay Krehbiel, Luke Luna, Abby Krehbiel, Dylan Luna, Natalie Krehbiel & Ainsley Krehbiel all of Omaha, NE.3 Great Grandchildren, Delaney, Lorelai & Rheagan Blanchard all of Manchester, TN. 1 Sister, Mary Louise Wright of Smithville, TN.
In addition to flowers, the family has requested that donations be made the Angel Tree Project.
Robert Vance Watkins

Robert Vance Watkins age 86, passed away December 24, 2022 at Claiborne Hughes Health and Rehab in Franklin, TN. He was born November 22, 1936 to his parents the late Oscar Vance and Wilma Irene McTeer Watkins. He was a member of Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church and he was Management for Sears Roebuck for 37 years. Mr. Watkins is survived by his wife of 66-1/2 years, Marie W. Watkins of Smithville; 2 daughters, Tamulia Raniece (Allen) Pollitt of Tampa, FL., and Pamulia Vaniece (Jeff) Landry of Thompson Station, TN.; grandchildren, Randall Waker, Vance (Kyra) Walker, Anne Marie Pollitt, MaryLee Pollitt, Nicholas (Julie) Landry, Hillary Landry, and Trevor Landry; great-grandchildren, Maggie, Willow, Johnny, James, Jay, Jordan, Kenzie, Layney, Zoey; also survived by, Jeffery Stephenson, Dylan Moore, and Julia Ventura. The family has honored Mr. Watkins request to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to flowers donations may be made to Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Chruch or Boys and Girls Ranch at Lighthouse in memory of Mr. Watkins. Albert Corley

80-year-old Albert Corley of Liberty, TN died Friday, December 23rd at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. The funeral will be 2:30 PM Friday, December 30th at Dekalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2:30 at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Alva Burton Corley, brothers, Jack and Roy Burton Corley, a sister, Sue Willoughby, and a niece, Wendy Willoughby.
Survivors include a brother, Roger Corley of Smithville; Nephews, Mark Willoughby of Alexandria, and Mike Corley of Clarksburg, West Virginia and a niece, Pat Allen of Alexandria, and several cousins and friends. Dekalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Jack Cantrell

Mr. Jack Cantrell, age 85, of Smithville, TN passed away on Sunday morning, December 25, 2022 at NHC in Smithville.
Mr. Cantrell was born on October 17, 1937 in Flint, Michigan to his parents, the late Bernard and Lillie Cantrell. Also preceding him in death was his wife of 56 years before passing in 2012, Nell Patterson Cantrell; stepmother, Ione Caplinger Cantrell; 2 brothers, Bernard Pascal Cantrell, Jr. and Waniford Cantrell. He was formerly an inspector at Carrier, in the National Guard, and a member of Tabernacle The Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 2pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Jack Patterson will officiate and burial will follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from noon – 8pm and on Wednesday from 11am- the service at 2pm.
Survivors include his 2 daughters, Tonya Joins of Gallatin and Deanna (Darryl) Counts of Smithville; 4 grandchildren, Brandon (Stephanie) Joins of Gallatin, Derek (Brittainy) Joins of Castalian Springs, Jordan (Erika) Gash of Shelbyville, and Rachel (Kieran) Russell of Clute, TX; 5 great-grandchildren, Torryn Gash of Shelbyville, Jiraiya Russell of Clute, TX, Everly Joins of Castalian Springs, Issac Joins of Gallatin, and Cortlynn Joins of Gallatin.
A special thank you to the past and present staff of NHC in Smithville for the care they provided Mr. Jack for the past 19 years and treating him like family.

Lloyd Dale Dyer

72-year-old Lloyd Dale Dyer of Alexandria, a loving husband and father went to meet his Lord on December 23, 2022 when his heart was too weak to stay here. His last breath was taken at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital. He was born in Baxter on June 23, 1950. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, James Lee Dyer and Vestie Harris Dyer of Baxter; two daughters, Lisa Michelle Hieatt and Debra Denise Dyer both of Baxter; granddaughter, McKinsey Grace Cannon; great grandson, Bobby Quinn Phillips; and a nephew, James Brian Haggard. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Dyer and Billy Dyer of Baxter.
After graduating at Upperman High School in Baxter, Dyer went to work at TRW in Lebanon in 1971 and worked there for 41 years. It was during this time he joined the UAW local 342 of Lebanon. After finding the love of his life, Louise Burnett Dyer, he moved to Alexandria, and fell in love with the town and the people who lived there. Only wanting to help bring the town back to the way it was and more. He served on the town board as Alderman, Vice Mayor, and to his surprise, the current Mayor of Alexandria.
Lloyd left behind his wife of 38 years, Louise Burnett Dyer of Alexandria. A son, Brandon Lloyd (Mandee) Dyer of Liberty. Stepsons, James Keith Cannon, Jr (Rebecca Smith) of Cookeville and Tracy Allen (Leslie H.) Cannon of Smithville. A sister, Mary Nell (Eugene) Haggard. He also has 12 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 2 until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with interment at Hillview Cemetery.
