Mr. Jimmie Andrew Beshears, age 94, of Smithville passed away Tuesday night at NHC Healthcare in Smithville. He was an Army veteran and served in the Korean war. Jimmie was a lifelong farmer and a Baptist. He was born to the late Lonnie Void & Ophia Waggoner Beshears on May 17, 1928 in Smithville, TN. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Bobbie Jewell Murphy and 2 brothers, Eugene & Jr. Beshears.
Survivors are his loving wife of 68 years Louise Stewart Beshears of Smithville, 1 brother, Don (Norma) Beshears of Ashland City, 3 nephews, Kenny (Alesia) Beshears of Burns, Shannon (Diane) Beshears of Pegram, Barry (Amy) Beshears of Smyrna, 1 niece, Wanda Taylor of Hendersonville and sister-in-law, Patricia Hibdon Beshears of Smithville.
Funeral services for Mr. Beshears will be on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 1 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Bro. Leonard Herman will be officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday 2 until 6 pm and Friday 10 am until the service time at 1 pm.

Mr. Jimmie Washer

Mr. Jimmie Washer, age 79, of Smithville passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 in Carthage at Kindred Nursing Home. He was a farmer and a Baptist. He was born to the late Wilbur Wright & Mary Miller Washer on June 2, 1943 in McMinnville, TN. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Robinson and a brother, Staley Washer.
He leaves behind 3 brothers, Doyle (Marie) Washer, Billy (Sharron) Washer and Bobby Washer all of Smithville, 6 sisters, Carolyn Chapman of Spencer, Kathy Henry & Linda Evans both of Smithville, Ada (Jim) Qualls of Morrison, Claudine (Darrell) Pedigo and Betty Jo (Robert) Lawson all of Smithville. Special aunt, Naomi Miller of Dowelltown and several nieces & nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 1 pm in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Bro. Frank Bratcher will officiate. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

George Steinbach

George Steinbach age 73 of Smithville passed away Saturday morning, November 26, 2022, at his residence. Mr. Steinbach was born August 3, 1949, to his parents, the late Frederick John and Josephine Mary Allendorf Steinbach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 5 siblings, William, Fred, Robert, Andrew Steinbach and Lucille Crouse. He worked for many years at Genesco and then later at Regal Craft. Mr. George served his country in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam and then he was in the Tennessee Army National Guard for over 22 years and was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Sink Creek Missionary Baptist Chruch, where he served as a deacon. He is survived by wife of 48 years, Ginger Steinbach of Smithville; 3 children, Georgette (Bryan) Judkins, Stephanie (Robert) England and Stephen Steinbach all of Smithville; 5 grandchildren, Zackary, Lacey, Hayley, Jordan and Lily England; 3 step-grandchildren, Mindy Evans, Kayla Kincer and Hannah England; 7 step-great-grandchildren, Kenya Batey, Jordan Batey, Carly Batey, Omari Molin, Kasen Kincer, Kaden Kincer and Kolten Kincer; sister-in-law, JoAnn Steinbach of Plainview, IL; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Dwight Rackley and Dwayne Rackley officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday 4 PM until 7 PM and Wednesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
William Hoyt Duke

Mr. William Hoyt Duke age 73 of Smithville passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022 at St. Thomas West in Nashville.
Mr. Duke was born on May 27, 1949 in DeKalb county to his parents, the late William Odell & Martha Oleda Duke. His sister, Linda Kay Duke, paternal grandparents, Homer & Beulah Duke and maternal grandparents, Clarence & Louella Trapp also preceded him in death. He worked in housekeeping at DeKalb Hospital for over 20 years.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 1pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Bill Robertson and Bro. Vincent Baker will officiate with burial following in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, from 1pm to 8pm and Tuesday from 10am until the service time at 1pm.
Survivors include his brother, Nelson (Vicky) Duke, nieces & nephews, Becky (Brandon) Miller, Dana (Eric) Barber, Ethan (Autumn) Duke, Paige Barber, Kelsie Barber, Jaden Barber, & Summer Duke all of Smithville. Uncle, Boyd (Linda) Trapp of Smithville and aunt, Judy Johnson of Liberty. A host of family and friends also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Michael Shayne Reeder age 48 of Alexandria, passed away Saturday morning November 26, 2022 at his father’s residence. He was born December 26, 1973 to his parents, Jim Reeder and the late Carolyn Parsley Glenn. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by step-father, James Glenn; grandmother, Lena Parsley; step-grandfather, Raymond Caldwell; uncles, Nelson Caldwell and Billy Joe Reeder; grandfather, Ray Reeder; great-grandmother, Mary Jane Caldwell; great-grandfather, John T. Caldwell. He was a former truck driver and disabled. He is survived by his father, Jimmy (Debbie) Reeder; brother, Thomas J. Reeder; niece, Shayla Reeder; nephew, Jaythan Reeder; grandmother, Marilyn Caldwell; uncles, Danny Reeder, Donald Reeder, Forrest “Hoolie” Reeder, Frankie (Reta) Caldwell; aunts, Patricia (Donnie) Bratcher and Barbara Reeder and numerous cousins and friends. The family has honored Mr. Reeder’s request to be cremated and there are no services planned at this time. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Sue Lassiter, a lifelong resident of Smithville passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, at 2:20 PM at the Webb House in Smithville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Parthenia Vanatta; husband, Tom Lassiter; 5 brothers, Lloyd, JC, Howard, Ernest and Eugene Vanatta; 2 sisters, Maureen Jones and Minnie Herman. Sue was a member of Snow Hill Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club for many years and held many positions including President, Vice-President and Secretary. Sue retired from Caney Fork Development Corporation after a career serving the people of DeKalb County for many years. After retirement, Sue would get to join NHC part time and continue doing what she loved…. helping others. Sue leaves to cherish her memory, 2 children, Vicky (Trey) Hill of Brentwood, TN and Todd (Misty) Lassiter of Smithville; grandchildren, Presley Hill (AJ Villarreal) of Fairview, TN, Macey Lassiter (Triston Stanley) of Smithville, Brady Hill of Brentwood and Emileigh Lassiter of Smithville; great-grandchild, Greyson Stanley of Smithville; sister, Frances Gilley of Nashville; sister-in-law, Jean Vanatta of Smithville. Funeral services celebrating her life will be 11:AM Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
