Mr. Craig R. Carpenter passed away peacefully, Sunday morning, September 18, 2022, after a brief stay at NHC Healthcare of Smithville.
Craig lived in many different places and had so many different types of life experiences that it is impossible in just a few words to tell. He was born in Amarillo Texas. Later his family moved to Dallas Texas where, with his brothers and sisters, enjoyed country living including horses and outdoor activities. Then, his family moved to Ft Lauderdale Florida where life was so different, with beaches, boating and surfing; then as an adult he moved to the country outside of Liberty Tennessee where he enjoyed gardening and being a cattleman; then eventually moving to Smithville Tennessee. Craigs lifetime occupations were Real-estate and as an Ultrasound Technician.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Carpenter and mother, Mary “Janie” Carpenter and a half-brother, Johnny Lee Carpenter. He is survived by: step-mother, Karen Kay Carpenter of Smithville (previous owner of Sundance Restaurant); sisters, Melody Carpenter-Jaquinta of Liberty, Karon (Lisa) Noon of Florida; brother, Michael (Mary Anne) Carpenter of Liberty; half sisters: Sharon Carpenter of Missouri and Shauna (Bill) Green of Georgia; half-brothers: James (Julie) Biggerstaff of Arkansas, John Rex Phillips of Texas and Kirk Carpenter of Virginia; nephews, Michael (Dedra) Carpenter, Matthew (Alex) Carpenter, Logan Carpenter; niece, Micah Carpenter and a great niece Molly Carpenter of Smithville.
Craig was truly a renaissance man who, over the years, proved his broad knowledge and skills in so many ways. Some of his hobbies and interests over the years were: Flying, Surfing, Boating, Motocross Racing, IDPA Pistol and Rifle Marksmanship, Wado-ryu Karate, Flint-knapping, Cattleman, Making Indian Jewelry and Woodturning.
As a boy Craig attended church with his family at North Lake Baptist Church of Dallas where he pronounced his faith in Christ and was baptized. He attended church in Smithville sporadically with his brother and sister. He was also a Mason at the Liberty Lodge.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11am at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, 100 East Church St. Smithville, TN. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 9am until the time of the services at 11am.
