Floyd Lee Culwell age 73 of Smithville, passed away Saturday night, February 8, 2020 at the V.A. Medical Center in Nashville. He was born June 14, 1946 to his parents, the late Eligah Brown and Lera Josie Summers Culwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Fermon and Boyd Culwell and 3 sisters, Ocia Marie Arnold, Sarah Frances Hullett and Evie Mai Culwell. Floyd was a mechanic and a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Vietnam. Survivors include 4 children, Floy Lee Culwell, II of Smithville, Samantha Greene of Sparta, Michelle Gurley of Smithville and Sandra Culwell of Smithville; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Wanda Cantrell of Smithville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 3:30 PM Saturday, February 15, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. David Lawson officiating and burial will follow in Bonham Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Saturday 11:AM until the time of the service at 3:30PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
