Freeman Lee Brown age 71 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday May 28, 2020 at his residence. He was born August 3, 1948 to his parents, the late Enoch Brown and Nannie Brown Goolsby. Mr. Freeman was a carpenter, nurseryman and a Baptist. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step-father Sam Goolsby; Wife: Linda Brown; Daughter: Michelle Downing; Son-in-law: Roy Colburn; Brothers: J.B. Brown, Willard Brown; Sister: Ann Ramsey. A Graveside Service will be held 3 PM Saturday May 30, 2020 at DeKalb Cemetery with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. Due to the COVID-19 and Social Distancing Guidelines, Anyone attending is asked to please exercise Social Distancing for the health and safety of everyone. The Graveside Service will be Livestreamed on DeKalb Funeral Chapel Facebook page. Survivors include: Children: Anna Colburn, Jason (Stephanie) Brown both of Smithville; Son-in-law: Robert Downing of Lady Lake, FL.; Grandchildren: Bradley Colburn, Erika Brown, Robert Downing, Jr., Brady Colburn; Sisters: Emma Chaffin, Janie Shoemake, Betty Bryant, Bobby Ledbetter all of Cookeville, Jewel Bilbrey of Algood; Several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers,the family asked that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. You may send condolences to the family at the funeral home website. There will not be any visitation or services held at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the 3:00 p.m. service. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
