Mrs. Mary Jo Kirby Puckett, age 102 of Smithville, passed away Thursday night, August 1, 2024, at her residence. She was a lifelong member of the Smithville First United Methodist church and a homemaker. She was a special person to all who knew her. Her sweet and kind nature will never be forgotten. She shined daily with gratitude and happiness.
She was born on November 14, 1921 in Smithville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents; Savage Monroe and Dolly Cope Kirby, 2 husbands; Clyde Helm and MT Puckett, 3 brothers; Virgil Kirby, Edward Kirby and Clyde Kirby, 2 sisters; Ruetta Close and Dell Reynolds.
Visitation with the Puckett family will be on Saturday from 10:00 am until the service time at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Her great nephew, Chad Kirby, will hold the service. Burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include her daughter; Merle Sandlin of Smithville, granddaughter; Jenny (Ted) Sauls of Murfreesboro, several nieces and nephews also survive. A special thank you to her caregivers and all those who have shown her love over the past few months. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
