Ricky Lynn Murphy, age 55, passed away, Sunday September 17, 2023, at his residence. He was born July 6, 1968, to his parents the late L. C. and Patty Neal Murphy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Burce Murphy; and sister, Martha Sue Murphy. Mr. Murphy attended Outreach Baptist Chruch and worked in Nursery. He is survived by his wife, Melissa Murphy of Smithville; 2 sons, Cody (Michaela) Murphy of Smithville, and Alex Murphy of Smithville; 8 grandchildren, Brayden, Austin, Colby, Trey, Alton, Colton, Hunter and Elizabeth; 2 sisters, Lisa Bain, Teesha (Keith) Reynolds of Smithville; 3 brothers, Curtis (Pam) Murphy of Indiana, Calvin (Angel) Murphy of Indiana and Sherman Murphy of Smithville; brother-in-law and best friend, Dickie Ray Bain; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Friday September 22, 2023, at 2:30 PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro, Nathan Thomason officiating and burial to follow in Dekalb Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday September 22, 2023, at10:00AM until the time of the service at 2:30PM. The family ask donations may be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
