Sharon Dawn Hancock, age 63, of Smithville, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at her residence. Born on November 26, 1961 in Murfeesboro, TN, she was the beloved daughter of Dan and Norma Hancock. Sharon dedicated her career to the State of TN, most recently working in the Department of Corrections, and was a passionate volunteer at the Nashville Zoo.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Sharon Hancock, and her sister, DeLynne Burgess. Sharon is survived by her father, Dan Hancock of Smithville; her brothers, Jeff Hancock of Dover and Wade (Mary Helen) Hancock of Smithville; her niece, Emma Hancock; her nephew, Grady Hancock; and her brother-in-law, Tim Burgess of Hendersonville.
A graveside service will be held for Ms. Hancock on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 11am at Prosperity Cemetery with David Dunn officiating. Visitation with the family will take place on Friday from 3-7pm at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses with SunCrest Home Health and Genitive Hospice, especially Bobbie Sue Wilson and Heather Griffin of Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center, for their compassionate care.
In addition to flowers to honor Sharon, the family requests donations be made to the Nashville Zoo in her memory.
