Wallace Dale Caldwell age 68 of Smithville, passed away Monday morning November 1, 2021 at the Tri-Star Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. He was born February 1, 1953 to his parents, the late L. D. and Cloie Bell Gay Caldwell. He was a current member of the Smithville Fire Department for 17 years where he served as the Chaplain, member of Tennessee Federation of Fire Chaplains, former member of the DeKalb County Fire Department for 7 years, former Instructor at TN Fire and Codes Enforcement Academy for 6 and half years, former member of the Smithville Planning Commission, U.S. Navy Veteran, member of Bright Hill United Methodist Church, former Pastor of Pine Bluff, New Union, and Bybee’s Chapel United Methodist Churches and current Pastor of Elmwood and Mt. Zion United Methodist Churches. Funeral services for Wallace Caldwell will be held 1:PM Thursday November 4, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Nathan Thomason, and a Chaplain with the Tennessee Federation of Fire Chaplains officiating and burial to follow in the Cannady Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday 3:PM until 7:PM and Thursday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Carolyn Caldwell of Smithville; 2 Daughters: Kitty (Tony) Thomas, Tiffany Caldwell (Narrece Dowell) both of Smithville; Grandchildren: Xavier Dowell, Carly Thomas, Nataliyah Dowell; 2 Sisters: Libby (Larry) Gibbs of Smithville, Freda (Gene) Lumby of South Dakota; 1 Brother: David (Rita) Caldwell of Smithville; Sister-in-law: Jane Gay of Smithville; Brothers-in-law: Steve Ritchie, Jimmy (Marie) Luna both of Smithville; Several nieces and nephews also survive. The Funeral Home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. In addition to flowers, the family asked that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
