Owls Outscore Tigers 47-34

The DCHS Tigers dropped their sixth game of the season Friday night with a 47 to 34 loss at Smith County.

DC is now 2-6 on the year while the Owls improve to 2-5.

Smith County got its first touchdown of the game on a 1 yard run by John Ross Hord with 1:22 left in the 1st period. The PAT attempt was no good but the Owls led 6-0.

Eli Martin scored on a 4 yard touchdown run for the Owls with 9:48 left in the 2nd period. Martin took it in on the 2 point conversion and Smith County led 14-0.

The Owls extended their advantage with 5:13 left in the 2nd period on a 45 yard touchdown pass play from Quarterback Cameron Spivey to Isaac Dick. The extra point by Waylon Timbs was good and Smith County was in front 21-0

The Tigers put points on the board with 4:37 left in the half on a 23 yard touchdown pass play from Quarterback Axel Aldino to T.J. Alexander. Andrew Fuson added the extra point to cut the Smith County lead to 21-7.

DC sliced into the Owls lead again with 28 seconds before half time on a 12 yard touchdown pass from Aldino to Grayson Redmon. Fuson tacked on the PAT and the Tigers trailed 21-14.

Smith County’s Eli Martin scored on the opening kick-off of the second half racing 91 yards for a touchdown. The PAT attempt was no good but the Owls owned a 27-14 lead.

Tiger Quarterback Axel Aldino found the endzone on a 7 yard touchdown run with 8:13 left in the 3rd period to cut the Smith County lead to 27-21 after Fuson’s PAT.

The Owls stretched their lead again with 6:59 left in the 3rd period on a 14 yard pass from Cameron Spivey to John Ross Hord. Tanner Marshall scored on the 2 point conversion to give Smith County a 35 to 21 advantage.

Jaden Apple added to the Owls lead on an 8 yard touchdown run later in the 3rd period. The PAT was no good but Smith County was on top 41-21.

The Tigers answered on a 4 yard touchdown run by David Bradford with 26 seconds left in the 3rd period and with Fuson’s PAT DC trailed 41-28.

Smith County’s Eli Martin scored his third touchdown of the game on a 45 yard run. The PAT try was no good but the Owls led 47-28.

The final score of the game came on a 5 yard touchdown pass to Axel Aldino to David Bradford with 50 seconds left. The 2 point conversion attempt failed the Tigers lost 47-34.

DeKalb County will travel to Macon County next Friday night, October 12. Kick-Off will be at 7 p.m. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
