Three DeKalb Firefighters complete weekend training

Three members of the DeKalb County Fire Department, Alex Woodward, Chris Bates, and Josh Davis graduated from the Tennessee Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Training Academy’s Live Burn Firefighter I class that was held Saturday and Sunday, March 26 and 27.

“This 16-hour course requires students to demonstrate skills needed to extinguish a passenger vehicle fire attack, exterior Class A fire attack, interior structure fire attack, commercial buildings and ground cover fire attack, “ said Captain Brian Williams.

“We are extremely proud of these recent graduates. Today, our department stands better prepared to respond to emergencies because of the high standards for training we set for our firefighters,” said Captain Williams.




DeKalb Neighbors Helping Neighbors Blood Drive Today (Monday)

A DeKalb County Neighbors Helping Neighbors Blood Assurance Drive will be Monday, March 28 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the parking lot of the County Complex next to South Congress Boulevard on the mobile Bloodmobile. All donors will receive a choice of an “Adventure Awaits” or “Happy Camper” t-shirt.

A DCHS Project Graduation Car, Truck, and Bike Show Set for April 2

A car, truck, and bike show will be held to benefit the DCHS Class of 2022 Project Graduation event on Saturday, April 2 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at DeKalb County High School.

All funds raised will go to Project Graduation, an all-night drug-free, alcohol-free graduation party for members of the DCHS Class of 2022 committed to having a safe, wholesome, yet entertaining celebration together for the last time as a class.

First and second place awards will be presented for best Rat Rods, Street Rods (1948 or older), Best Paint, Best Ford, Chevy.

Mopar: Production and Modified, Special Interest, Trucks/Vans, Motorcycles.

Trophies: Best of Show and Senior Class Pick

Craft/Clothes vendors and food vendors will be available.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. with judging at noon and awards to be presented at 3 p.m.
