DeKalb Neighbors Helping Neighbors Blood Drive Today (Monday. December 6)

A DeKalb County Neighbors Helping Neighbors Blood Assurance Drive will be today (Monday, December 6) from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. outside the senior citizen center sidewalk.
All donors will be given an “Adventure Awaits” long sleeve t-shirt and their names entered into a drawing for a chance to win a “2021 Side-by-Side”.

Please remember to EAT A GOOD MEAL, drink additional water, avoid energy drinks and bring a photo ID. Blood Assurance is the SOLE blood provider for our local hospitals.
Smiling Faces Fill Town of Liberty for Sunday’s Christmas Parade (View Video Here)

The Town of Liberty was filled with many smiling faces Sunday afternoon for the annual Christmas parade.
Spectators lined both sides of West Main Street along the parade route from Salem Baptist Church to the reviewing stand near the Liberty Community Center anxious to view the sights and to catch a glimpse of Santa.
This year’s Liberty parade featured a showcase of holiday themed floats, vintage automobiles, horseback riders, Mr. and Miss DeKalb County Michael and Tara Hale, the DCHS Fighting Tiger Band, special entries from local businesses and utility companies, ATVs and motorcycles, emergency vehicles including the DeKalb County Fire Department’s Liberty Station, Smithville-DeKalb County Rescue Squad, State Representative Terri Lynn Weaver, and more including the star of the show, Santa Claus.
After the parade, awards were presented to the best entries and drawings were held for prize giveaways.
The Mt Pisgah Free Will Baptist Church took 1st place for their float entry. Second place went to Salem Baptist Church.
In the category vintage automobiles/tractors, Billy Joe Cripps won 1st place for his 1956 Chevy. Second place went to Josh Miller and Ray Miller for their 1931 Ford Coupe.
In the entry for small kids, Alexis Reynolds took 1st place and 2nd place went to Molly Carpenter and Family.
Ty Curtis took both 1st & 2nd place for pet entries.

Fiddle Dee Dee on Broad again presents Fiddle Dee Dee on Broad Gospel Hour Sunday night, December 5 from 5-6 p.m. on WJLE.
The program airs once a month, on the first Sunday night of each month, from 5-6 p.m. featuring recorded local talent performing gospel music.
Sunday night’s program will showcase the music of Elizabeth Wright and the Webb Sisters.
