Dr. Ken R. Adcock

Dr. Ken R. Adcock passed away on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, at a health care facility due to complications from a stroke. He was 80 years old. He was an active member of First United
Methodist Church in Cleveland, TN and member of the St. Andrews Sunday School class.

Dr. Adcock was born in Smithville, TN and graduated from Dekalb County High School. He attained an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Tennessee Tech University located in Cookeville, TN. He later attained an MBA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

He had a diverse career in private industry, which consisted of Arnold Engineering Development Center in Tullahoma, TN, Bowater Paper Company in Calhoun TN, and AGC Corporation in Cleveland, TN. He was especially proud of AGC Corporation, a software development company located in Cleveland, TN where he was co-founder and President. AGC developed and sold software that managed the back-office functions of churches with their signature product being United Methodist Information System (UMIS). He later entered academia by joining Cleveland State Community College (CSCC) as a full-time faculty member where he achieved the rank of full Professor while teaching business administration and computer science classes. He always said his time at CSCC were the best years of his career. He cherished his time with the students, faculty, and staff.

Dr. Adcock was a devoted husband and father. His favorite hobbies were restoring and building classic cars and reading. He enjoyed attending car shows with his best friends who remember him for his loud laugh. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Frances Adcock, and his brother, Wayne Adcock.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Charlotte Robinson Adcock and two sons and their wives, Ken R. Adcock, Jr. and Walailux, Jonathan Wayne Adcock and Mary. This includes his grandchildren, Andrew Adcock, son of Ken and Walailux Adcock, Rebekah Adcock, daughter of Jonathan Adcock, Mackenzie Savage, step-daughter of Jonathan and Mary Adcock, and great grandson, Kayden. In addition, he is survived by sister-in-law Judy Adcock and nieces Amelia Melton and Valerie Boothe as well as many relatives.

On Wednesday, November 10, 2021, a Celebration of Life service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Cleveland, TN and officiated by Reverend Curtis McKee. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM with the service to take place immediately thereafter. The family requests everyone to wear masks when indoors.

Interment will be at DeKalb County Memorial Gardens in Smithville, TN on Thursday, Nov. 11 with the burial service to begin at 11:00 AM CST where he will be buried near his parents, brother, and other relatives. All friends and relatives are welcomed to attend.

Ocoee Street North, Cleveland, TN 37312 or Cleveland State Community College Foundation, 3535 Adkisson Dr., Cleveland, TN 37320. Arrangements are by Companion Funeral Home in

Honorary pallbearers are the St. Andrew’s Sunday School Class. Pallbearers are Gary Wilson, Mike Weeks, Lewis Capehart, Rodney Haun, Stacy Greene, and Scott Ford.

Kathy Watros Carter age 48 of Smithville passed away Monday, November 8, 2021 at St. Thomas Hospital Midtown in Nashville. She was born January 14, 1973 to her parents, Joseph Watros and the late Donna Jane Dolkas Watros. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Ida W. Robbins. Kathy was disabled. She is survived by her husband, Roger Carter of Smithville; 4 step-children; 8 step-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Teri (Dwain) Rowe of Smithville, Jennifer (Jason) Hitchcock of Cookeville, and Brittney (Will) Odom of Smithville; several nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles also survive. The family chose a direct cremation and a Celebration of Life will be held later. The family ask in lieu of flowers that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. Patricia Ann “Patty” Tallent was born in Tampa, Florida, on April 4, 1959 and passed away on Friday October 29, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Larrie Brown and Gertrude Hamilton and her son, Alex Edwards. She is survived by her daughter Sheila Jensen, son-in-law Chris, son Cody Edwards, grandsons Mason and Wyatt Edwards, sisters Connie and Laura, brother Larry, and several nephews. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or your local drug abuse prevention and treatment facilities. Robert Michael Eaton age 68, of Silver Point passed away Friday night November 5, 2021 at his residence. He was born July 10, 1953 to his parents the late Bobby and Margaret Stewart Eaton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Morgan Eaton; siblings, Professor Harvill Eaton, and Connie Eaton. Mr. Eaton was affiliated with the Lebanon Road Church of Christ. He was a Musician, Singer/Songwriter, member of Nashville Songwriter Association, and a Grand Ole Opry Alumni. He is survived by son, Mike (Penny) Edwards of Smithville; daughter, Allison Vantrease of Knoxville; grandchildren, Cori Edwards, Kayla Cook, Maddie Cook; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Deerrick, Charles Derrick and Annalise Dale. The family has chosen a direct cremation and a private service will be held at a later date. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Carl “Tooter” Martin age 59 of Smithville, TN passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital.

Mr. Martin was born on April 25, 1962 in Smithville, TN to his parents, the late Johnny Lee & Ruby Mae Martin Norman & a step father, Oscar Norman. He had worked in Construction and was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 1pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with burial to follow at DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, 5-8pm and Tuesday from 10am until the time of funeral services at 1pm.

Survivors include 4 children, Whitney Martin, Jeremiah Martin & Chantal Martin all of Smithville, TN and Malachi Martin of Manchester, TN. 3 Grandchildren, Kiara Martin, Krislyn Martin & Jazzalina Sullivan. 2 Sisters, Shirley McCoy Reedy of Smithville, TN & Christina (Jonathon) Young of Manchester, TN. Neodia Frazier Cantrell age 80 of Dowelltown, passed away Friday afternoon November 5, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. She was born June 14, 1941 to her parents, the late James Douglas and Altie Ashburn Frazier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Cantrell; son, Danny Cantrell; sisters, Hazel Frazier and Virginia Hendrixson; brothers, Azero, Norman, Henry, Lester and Junior Frazier. She worked at Genesco and Texas Boot for many years. Neodia was a member of the People’s Pentecostal Church. She leaves to cherish her memory, 2 sons, Donald (Tammy) Cantrell of Dowelltown and Dwight (Carol) Cantrell of Pikeville; daughter-in-law, Brenda Cantrell of Dowelltown; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jonathan) Flatt, Jessica (Jeremy) Govero, Nicole Vientos, Chase Cantrell, Bryan (Mary) Cantrell, and Heather (Caleb) Shehane; step-grandchildren, Erin (Austin) Tobitt, Corey Clark, Josh (Sarah) Wallace and Daniel Wallace; several great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Marie (Horace) Bratcher of Dowelltown; brothers, Leo (Mildred) Frazier of Chattanooga, Roscoe (Pauline) Frazier of Dowelltown and Garlon (Ann) Frazier of Liberty; 2 sisters-in-law, Robbie Joan Frazier of Dowelltown and Ruth Prinzivalli of Smithville; bother-in-law, Joe Hendrixson of Liberty and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Ricky Scott and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Burton-Ponder Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 3 PM until 7 PM and Tuesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM.
