Evie Sue Walker age 83 of Smithville passed away Sunday morning, September 5, 2021 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. She was born February 25, 1938 to her parents, the late Lesley and Lucal Simmons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Walker; grandparents, Mary Blackburn, Lige Simmons and Bithie Crosslin; sisters, Bessie MaCory, Hope Simmons; brothers, Jerry, Donnie, Robert, James, Russell and Gerald. She was a retired factory worker and a Baptist. She leaves to cherish her memory, 7 children, Betty Neal, Rebecca Crank, Norma Neal, Judy Highsmith, Sandra Neal, Leon Neal and Jeff Neal; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shelia McCumbers, Marrie Brandon and Mary Jane Smith and brother, Randy Simmons; several nieces and nephews and her CNA, Peggy Tramel. Funeral services will be 10:AM Thursday, September 9, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Tony Smith officiating and burial will follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 4 PM until 7 PM and Thursday 9:AM until the time of the service at 10:AM. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Calvin Douglas Jones

Mr. Calvin Douglas Jones, age 78, of McMinnville passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 from an extended illness at The Rutherford Memory Care. He was a member of Assembly of God, worked at AEDC as a sheet metal worker and was a Navy Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents- Carl and Elua Deane West Jones; wife, Brenda Faye Jones; brother, Terry Jones; and nephew, Tim Jennings.
He is survived by 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Regina (Ronald) Jennings, and Tonya (Trent) Kell all of McMinnville; 3 nephews, Brian (Jodi) Jennings, Keaton (Carissa) Kell, and Justin Tyler Jones all of McMinnville; 1 niece, Ashley (Nick) Silvus of Viola; 2 brothers-in-law, Paul Jackson and Don Jackson; 2 stepchildren, Donna Overall and Jim Blankenship; 3 step grandchildren, Cody Blankenship, Alec Vilan, and Adain Overall; special godson, Gordon Bass; several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 1 from 9am until 1:30pm at Gardens of Memory in McMinnville, and a graveside service will be held at 2pm at Shell’s Ford Cemetery with burial to follow. Bro. Chester Stovall will be holding the service.
In addition to flowers donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
At the family’s request, masks are highly encouraged. With Covid precautions, there will be no food or drink at the funeral home.

Gradie Bond Gribble age 93 of Smithville, passed away Sunday morning, August 29, 2021 at her residence. She was born October 16, 1927 to her parents, the late Johnny William and Bertie Sue Atnip Bain. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Garrison Lee Bond and Clifford Gribble; daughter, Gradie Lee Hernandez; son, Joe Bond; 2 sons-in-law, Rickey Stanley and John Hernandez; siblings, Bernice Bain, Flossie Linder, Troy Bain, Alton Bain, Mai Bain, J.E. Bain and Honest Bain. Ms. Gradie was a member of the Bethlehem Community Church. She was a caregiver, babysitter, took in and raised 3 of her nephews and was a homemaker. As long as she was able, she loved working in her flowers. She leaves to cherish her memory, 4 children, Danny Bond (Susan Johnson) of Dowelltown, Linda (Richard) Gonzales of Texas, Johnny Bond (Shannon) of Utah and Kathy Stanley (Danny Martin) of Smithville; daughter-in-law, Beatrice Bond of Missouri; 16 grandchildren, Andrea’ (Jason) Isaac, Johnathon Hernandez, Amy Bond, Phillip (Maria) Bond, Andy Bond, Nicholas (Lizbette) Bond, Jacob (Trista) Bond, Christopher (Jennifer) Gonzales, Ashley Gonzales, Brooke Bond, Sara Paulk, Shawnee Bond, Garrison Bond, Matthew Bond, Angela (Joe) O’Connell, Rickey (Jessica) Stanley; 22 great-grandchildren, Arianna, Jennya, June, Madison, Piper, Natalie, Garret, Keaton, Logan, Danica, Michael, Lettie, Grant, Hudson, Genevieve, Adalynn, Scarlett, Reanna, Faithann, Jolynn, Chelsie and Lily; special nieces, Peggy Hensley and Helen Holler; special caregivers, Rita Matthews, Evelyn Young, Mary McCoy; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 PM Friday, September 3, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Donald Owens and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 4 PM until 7 PM and Friday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. The family asks that everyone please exercise social distancing and wear a mask during visitation and funeral service for the health and safety of everyone. Ms. Jennie Mae Martin, age 81, of Smithville, TN passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN.
Ms. Martin was born on October 24, 1939 in DeKalb County to her parents, the late Richard and Nettie Mae Bates Driver. She was a homemaker and a member of Gath Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Jennie Martin was preceded in death by her husbands, Billy Martin and Billy Laster; and daughter, Teresa Laster.
Survivors include 2 brothers, Frank Don (Ruby Nell) Driver and Richard David (Shirley) Driver all of Smithville; granddaughter, Ashley Snell of Florida; special friend, Tammy Manning of Watertown; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, September 2 from 9am until the time of the funeral service at 1pm. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
Because of Covid precautions, our kitchen facility remains closed to outside food or drinks.

Tammy Lynn Gesford Starkey age 38 of Smithville passed away Monday August 30, 2021 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital in Smithville. She was born August 7, 1983 to her parents Marvin Gesford, Sr. and the late Pamela Gesford. She was a member of Roundlick Baptist Church and a Customer Service Rep with Verizon. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by infant brother Shawn Gesford. Funeral Services will be held 3 PM Friday with Bro. Dan Gulley officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Friday 1 PM until the time of the service at 3 PM. Survivors include her husband William Starkey of Smithville; 4 sons: Dakota Alexander Starkey, Logan Lewis Starkey, Zane Elliott Starkey and Brantley William Starkey all of Smithville; Father: Marvin Gesford, Sr. of Smithville; Sister: Lisa Siford of Martinsburg, WV; Brother: Marvin Lewis Gesford, Jr. Due to COVID-19 our lounge is closed and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. Robin Pope Warren age 42 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday night, August 25, 2021 at St. Thomas River Park in McMinnville. She was born October 17, 1978 in Jackson, MS to Dwight Eugene Pope and the late Sherri Lynne Renfroe Pope. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Mamie Lee McCoy Renfroe; nephew, Gavin Wolfe. She was a member of New Life United Pentecostal Church and a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Joshua Reed Warren; 2 children, Savanna Rene’ Warren and Owen Reed Warren; father, Dwight (Dawn) Pope; brother, Billy (Tammy) Pope; 3 sisters, Tracye (Clint) Trest, Rachel Pope and Anna Davis; nieces and nephews, Brandi Williams, Melissa Howell, Houston Trest, Henderson Trest. Funeral services will be 5 PM Friday, September 3, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dwayne Cornelius officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery.
