James L. Clark age 84 of Alexandria, died Sunday afternoon, May 10, 2020 at his residence. Born Sept. 8, 1935, he was the son of the late James Hudson Clark and Sammie Bell McMillen Clark and was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Anderson. Jimmy was a graduate of Liberty High School and served with the Tennessee National Guard, he was employed for over 37 years at AVCO. Jimmy was a member of Alexandria First Baptist Church and served as Deacon Emeritus for 47 years. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Campbell Clark; children, Terry “Fuzzy” Clark and wife, Susan, Tommy Clark, Sylvia Lamberson and husband, Earl and Sonia Lamberson; grandchildren, Jason (Morgan) Clark, Jasma (Kory) Morgan, Logan (Elizabeth) Clark, Morgan Clark, Josh (Megan) Lamberson, Taylor, Peyton and Seth Lamberson; great grandchildren, Marissa, Kennedi and Brett Clark, Chase Lamberson, Dylan, Alex and Audrey Gordon; sister, Nell Lane and her husband, Cliff. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Alexandria First Baptist Church with Bro. Billie Friel officiating. Visitation at the church from 2-8 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. till service time on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be grandsons, grandsons-in-law and Steven Fuller; great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will be at Hunter Memorial Park. Aubrey McGuill Meece age 80 of Dowelltown and a native of Old Hickory, passed away Saturday morning, May 9, 2020 at his residence. He was born March 9, 1940 to his parents, the late Luke McGuill and Ella Beatrice Meece. Aubrey was a 1957 graduate of Dupont High School and attended David Lipscomb College for 2 years. He was a member of the Madison Church of Christ, served in the National Guard for 4 years, former member of the Tennessee Ski Club, was an engineer at Dupont in Old Hickory for about 40 years and worked at Smithville Food Lion for 5 years. He was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Meece of Dowelltown; 2 sons, Scotty (Christen) Meece of Portland and Mark Meece of Hendersonville; 3 step-daughters, Angela West of Carthage, Sharon Barnwell of Sparta and Mindy Ware of Sparta; 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Susan Meece of Old Hickory and Myrna Sisco Meece of Mt. Juliet; 2 nieces, 1 great-niece and 1 great-nephew. Due to the COVID-19, the Governor strongly encouraging that the public component of funerals be postponed and only attended by immediate family members, social distancing requirements and public health safety, There will be a PRIVATE Graveside Service Monday, May 11, 2020 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of Caris Hospice, NHC HealthCare, Dr. Dingle and Bill Turner for the love and care shown to Aubrey during his sickness. Mrs. Ina Mai Cantrell age 90 of Madison, TN and DeKalb County native, passed away Thursday night, May 7, 2020 at Vanco Manor Nursing & Rehab of Goodletsville, TN.
Mrs. Ina was born on July 11, 1929 in DeKalb County to her parents, the late James Savage & Mamie Young Knowles. Also preceding her in death was her brother, Cliff Knowles. She was a homemaker and a member of Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church.
In accordance with the Governors Executive Order Number 30 regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, it strongly recommends the continuation of private family services. There will be no public visitation held at the funeral home. Private Graveside services for the family will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Bro. Dwight Knowles will officiate.

Jack E. Barton , age 96, died on May 1, 2020, in Smithville, TN.
He is survived by his son Jack E. Barton II and wife Christie, of Cookeville, TN ; his son Clay T. Barton of Loup City, NE; and his grandchildren Jack E. Barton III of Smithville, TN, Edwin A. Barton of Denver, CO, and Tiera Barton of Cookeville, TN; and his great grandchildren Tess Barton, Ben Barton and Camille Barton all of Smithville, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents Harry C. and Carmie Barton; his wife Olive T. Barton; and his brother Harry C. “Bud” Barton
Jack was born on May 8, 1923 in Gering, NE, to parents Harry C. Barton and Carmie Lamm Barton. In 1941, he graduated from Gering High School in Gering, NE where he lived, farmed and worked for the Lockwood Corporation. In 1977, he and his wife moved to Cookeville, TN. He worked for Tennessee Tech University for nearly 27 years at the physical plant in charge of the central supplies, retiring at 84. At 87, he bought a farm in Smithville, TN and moved there. Jack was a person who never shied away from hard work. He loved farming, cattle and most things related to a simple honest life. His personality led him to have friends from all walks of life and his characteristic of always tinkering with something to make it work was a trait he never lost.
Being as old as he was, he always laughed that he had outlived most of his contemporaries. He is still fondly remembered by many co-workers at TTU as well as younger friends he made throughout his long life. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.
His wishes were to not have a service or memorial but to have his ashes buried in Gering, NE next to his wife and near his parents. A graveside service will be performed at that time.

Carolyn Lackey age 73 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 5, 2020 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. She was born November 26, 1946 to her parents, the late James Edward and Helen Virginia Driver Hendrixson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lackey and brother, Jimmy Hendrixson. She was a member of the Old Fashioned Freewill Baptist Church and worked in the Dietary Department at NHC HealthCare. She leaves to cherish her memory 5 children, Jeffery Scott (Patricia) Stubbe of Smithville, Charles Stubbe of Smithville, Tina (Kenneth) Whitehead of Smithville, Tammy (David) Hough of Florida and Jason (Melissa) Lackey of Smithville; 8 grandchildren, Ashlee (Jacob) Rankhorn, Jessica Price (Antonio), Madison Whitehaed, Joshua, Eli and Nicholas Lackey, Shelby Hough and Dakota (Emily) Nokes; 4 great-grandchildren, Brynlee Rankhorn, Kimber and Kynlee Nokes and Jeremiah Hillard; sisters-in-law, Bernice Hendrixson of Dowelltown, Jean (Johnny) King, Norma (David) Young, and Wanda Allen all of Sparta and Angela Garcia of Manchester; brothers-in-law, Wane Lackey of Chattanooga, Stevie Lackey, Tommy Lackey, and James Lackey all of Sparta and Bethel (Linda) Golden of Smithville and several nieces and nephews. Due to the COVID-19, the Governor strongly encouraging that the public component of funerals be postponed and only attended by immediate family members, social distancing requirements and public health safety, There will be a PRIVATE Graveside Service on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Bros. David Lawson and Nathan Thomason officiating. The family is planning to have a Public Service to Honor the life of Ms. Carolyn at a later date, which will be announced. Condolences may be sent to the family on the funeral home website. Also, any expressions of sympathy may be mailed to the funeral home at P.O. Phillip Hendrixson age 56 of McMinnville, passed away Monday morning, May 4, 2020 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital ER in McMinnville. He was born August 24, 1963 to his parents, the late J.D. and Louise Pinegar Hendrixson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Randall and Jerry Hendrixson. He was a Baptist and a nursery worker. Phillip is survived by his wife, Roxanne Hendrixson of McMinnville; 2 children, Scotty (Bonnie) Hendrixson of Dunlap and Cory (Crystal) Hendrixson of McMinnville; 5 grandchildren, Haley, Hope, McKenzie, Dallas and Lyndsey Hendrixson; 2 brothers, Ricky Hendrixson and Bobby (Joyce) Hendrixson both of Smithville; special cousin, Lou Ann Cantrell. Due to the COVID-19 and Governor asking to keep services private family only services, there will be a Private Graveside Service on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at DeKalb Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. Condolences to the family can be made on the funeral home website.
