Eugene LaFever

Mr. Perry Eugene LaFever, age 48, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at his residence in Warren County. He was a self-employed audio engineer and attended Lighthouse Church.

He was born on September 13, 1975 in Smithville, TN to his parents, UL & Helen Perry LaFever who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dana LaFever.

Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 11:00 am to the service time at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Doug Dillard will officiate and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be to the Warren County High School Choir in memory of Eugene.

Survivors include one daughter, Sahara “Sara Beth” LaFever of Knoxville, 3 aunts, Sue (Jimmy) Bryson of Old Hickory, Louisa Phelps of Antioch and Merle Sandlin of Smithville. Special family, Kennette Dixon of McMinnville, McKenna and Justin Proffitt of Lebanon and Allie and Tyler Morton of McMinnville.

Kenneth V. Vincent, Jr.

October 24, 2023

Kenneth V. Vincent, Jr. of Smithville, age 49, passed away Saturday evening, October 14, 2023, at his residence. He was born June 5, 1974, to his late father, Kenneth Vernon Vincent, Sr. and his mother, Vickey White Milligan. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ozie and Earl Vincent, Kenneth White, Earsie Cherry, and Tommy Cherry. Mr. Vincent served in the United States Army, he also worked in Welding and Concrete finishing. He is survived by his wife, Julie Vincent of Smithville; 3 children, Ray (Brittany) Vincent, Amanda (Drake) Clouse, and Seth (Kayla) Vincent all of Smithville; 5 grandchildren, Cayden, Jerrel, Maverick, Rylan, and Kingston; mother, Vickey (Kenny) Milligan of Smithville; brother, Josh (Tracey) Vincent of Smithville; sister, Terika Faux of Smithville; sister-in-law, Amanda Ford of Smithville; nieces and nephews, Karah Jo, Hagen, and Ellie; and several other nieces and nephews also survive. The family has honored Kenneth’s request to be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held 4:30PM Friday, October 27, 2023, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Sam Allen officiating and Military Honors will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Bobbie Spencer Ervin

Bobbie Spencer Ervin, age 92, of Smithville, passed away Thursday night October 19, 2023 at NHC Healthcare in Smithville. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Her primary occupation was mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker, which she fulfilled with beauty and grace. Bobbie loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. Her greatest joy was her family. She was preceded in death by her husband James M. Ervin; parents: W.J. Spencer and Stepmother Barbara Close Spencer. She is survived by her daughters: Jane (Vester) Parsley of Smithville, Alice (Aubrey) Moseley of Murfreesboro. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: John Parsley of Smithville, Rebecca Troxell (Levi) of Manchester, Sarah Sheets, Julie Wolfe and Rachel Peters (Kyle) of Murfreesboro; two great-grandchildren: Mason Peters and Elizabeth Sheets. Funeral services for Bobbie will be private. She will be laid to rest at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Expression of sympathy may be expressed at www.dekalbfuneralchapel.com. A special thank you to the staff at NHC for the excellent care Bobbie has received over the last eleven years. The family was truly blessed to have such caring people looking after her and will always be grateful for the excellent health care that was given. June Myers Mullican

June Myers Mullican age 76 of Smithville, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Friday morning, October 20, 2023. She was born March 21, 1947, to her parents, the late Emmett Ray and Edith Manus Myers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Myers. June was mischievous, loved children and animals. She worked many years at DeKalb County Bank as a loan officer and lastly was an assistant with Dr. Mark Burke. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 50 years, Don Mullican of Smithville; 2 daughters, Amy L. (Sean) Mullican of Hermitage and Rachel L. (Keith) Melton of Smithville; 3 grandchildren, Olivia June, Conrad T. and Brody D.; step-grandson, Kelby Melton; brother, Steve Myers of Florida and sister, Ann Kraemer of North Carolina. The family has honored June’s request to be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Saturday, October 28, 2023, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with David McKinney and Bro. Michael Hale officiating. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Smithville/DeKalb County Humane Society, in memory of June. June’s family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Gentiva Hospice and caregiver Teresa Rigsby for the love and care shown to June. Thomas Wayne Tittle

Thomas Wayne Tittle age 68 of Alexandria, passed away Saturday morning, October 21, 2023, at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. He was born January 8, 1955, to his parents, the late John Junior and Helen Louise Rogers Tittle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Tittle. He worked at Technical Plating in Watertown and was a member of Poplar Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Tittle of Alexandria; 2 children, Nicholas (Jaimie) Tittle of Hermitage and Rebekah Tittle of Alexandria; 4 grandchildren, Justin, Rachel, Alexis, and Annalise; 5 brothers, James and Raymond Tittle both of Alexandria, Joe Tittle of Smithville, Randy and Charlie Tittle both of Dowelltown; 3 sisters, Darlene Cantrell of Baxter, Louann Wilkerson of Grant and Teresa Hallback of Smithville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. David Lawson officiating. Following the service, the family will honor Mr. Tittle’s request to be cremated. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 11:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. Charles “Chuck” Kelly Cantrell

Charles “Chuck” Kelly Cantrell, 84, of McMinnville, passed away on October 17, 2023, in Murfreesboro, TN, following an extended hospital stay. He was blessed to be among his family during his last moments. He was retired from Middle Tennessee State University after working 20 years as a boiler operator.

Chuck lived a life full of adventure and friendship. He saw the world during his 10 years with the US Navy as a machinist’s mate, even getting a chance to protect President Harry S. Truman. He bravely persevered through family tragedy and personal struggles throughout his life, and thanks to his dedication and diligence, he found peace and stability in his golden years. Known to be a jovial and sometimes rowdy character, his exuberance left an indelible mark on every person who was lucky enough to know him. He was also a member of the Eagles and AmVets.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Shirley Gribble Cantrell, his loving companion and favorite fishing partner. Also surviving, one daughter, Darla Cantrell Miller, one son, James Kelly Cantrell, one grandson, Rory T. Miller, one great grandson, Oliver Miller. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel Bozarth Williams and Kelly Crawford Cantrell, as well as his sister, Helen Cantrell.

There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 11:00am to 2:00 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.
