Kennith Lattimore age 67 of Smithville passed away September 5, 2023 at his residence. He was born January 11, 1956 to his parents, the late Bobby Edward and Willie Pearl Pascal Lattimore. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by grandson, Zachariah Drennan; brother Eddie Lattimore and step-father, Abe Jackson Colwell. Mr. Lattimore was a Self-employed Construction worker. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debbie Lattimore of Smithville; children Tracey (Butch) Ludwig of Smithville, Chris (Annie) Lattimore of Smithville, Amanda (Jason) Winningham of Rickman, and Wayne (Brenda) Lattimore of Smithville; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Frances Mathis of Smithville, Virginia Caldwell of Smithville, and Brenda (Ricky) Coldwell of Smithville; brother, Johnny (Melinda) Lattimore of Smithville. The family has honored Mr. Lattimore’s request to be cremated and no services to be held. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Elizabeth E. (Beth) Bender

Elizabeth E. (Beth) Bender of The Villages, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages.
She is survived by her husband, John T. (Tom) Bender, having celebrated their 50th anniversary in September, 2022; brother, Jim (Yuki) Downey, of Mobile, Alabama; and seven children in her blended family: Will (Jen) Sherwood, MD, of Smithville, Tenn; Bob (Jen) Sherwood of Centerville, Ohio; Rick Sherwood of Cincinnati; Jim Bender, Betsy Slone, Sarah (Mike) Bender, and Amy (Fred) Dunlea, all of Cincinnati; and many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Born in North Judson, Indiana, the daughter of Janet (Bill Hebson) and Richard M. Downey (Helen), she was a graduate of Purdue University. Something of a basketball fanatic, she was fiercely loyal to the Purdue basketball team. She was an active member of the Delta Gamma sorority alumnae group in the Villages.
Beth was a quilter, and co-owned a quilt shop in West Chester, Ohio, for several years. After moving to Florida, she became a member of the Quilting B’s chapter of The Villages Quilt Guild. She won a number of prizes for her quilting and served as president of the Guild. Her children and grandchildren have many “Grandma Beth” quilts; precious keepsakes that will be lovingly passed down to future generations.
Beth, along with Tom, was a dedicated member of the Mystery Lovers Book Club of The Villages.
Beth also was for many years the keeper of the communication list for “the Weaties,” residents of the Weaton Court area of The Village of Glenbrook, a task that helped keep neighbors in touch.
Beth contributed to a number of charities, most in support of children.
A “Remembrance of Beth’s Life” will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 7, in the Silver Oaks meeting room of the Saddlebrook Recreation Center in The Villages.
Her ashes will be scattered in a field of sunflowers on Dr. Sherwood’s farm.
Dennis Wayne Brown

McMinnville, TN resident and Warren County, TN native Dennis Wayne Brown, age 72, was born June 3, 1951 and died August 31, 2023 at his residence following a brief illness.
A retired shipping clerk with Cumberland Lumber, he was the son of Robert E. Lee and Imagene Smartt Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Sydney Brown.
Mr. Brown is survived by children, Jamie Brown of Smithville, TN and Julie (Tim) Horn of McMinnville, TN; step-son, Jason Hagan of McMinnville, TN; grandchildren, Jayden, James-Anthony, Jaymison, Sophia, Jaxson, Grayson and Andrew; step-grandchildren, Cody, Summer, Logan, Lucas, Dailyn and Lilith; brothers, Ronnie Brown, David Brown and Randy Brown; sisters, Pamela Muncey and Cynthia Roberts; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Kathy Dye.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at High Funeral Home.

Johnnie Magaline Davenport, 91, died Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at NHC – Smithville. She was born in Wilson Co., TN.
She is survived by her 4 daughters, Brenda (David) Dodd, Darlene Davenport Gilliam and Pam (David) Gaither all of Woodbury and Regina (Stephen) Mayo of Bradyville; 11 grandchildren, John (Britany) Dodd, Bridgette Dodd, Derrick (Beth) Cooper, Leslie (Tyson) Stephens, Dale Mayo, Lindsey Davenport (Eric Vickers), Jacob (Brittany) Duggin, Dustin Mayo, Austin Duggin (Madison Blanton) Samantha Gaither and Madison (Lane) Poss and her siblings, Betty (Dooley) Green of Morrison, Arlene (Larry) Sanders of Woodbury and Clyde (Betty) McCord of Woodbury. 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Rufus Ed and Liz Murphy, her mother, Martha Mai Warren Murphy; her husband, Vess Davenport; son, David Davenport and siblings, Ines Davenport, Clifton “Tip” Murphy, Fannie Ruth Fletcher, Allie Allen, George Murphy, Roy Murphy, Joe Murphy, Lela Finley, Howard Murphy, Ray Murphy, Sally Jane Murphy, JT McCord, Margie Burks, Jo Bryan and John McCord.
A member of the Sycamore Baptist church, she was a retired seamstress. She enjoyed planting and tending to her flowers. The more she had the happier she was. She also enjoyed quilting and playing Bingo.
Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Friday, September 1, 2023 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Pelham officiating. Interment will follow in the Sycamore cemetery.
Pallbearers include her loving grandchildren, John Dodd, Derrick Copper, Dale and Dustin Mayo, Jacob and Austin Duggin, Tyson Stephens, Eric Vickers, Preslee Merriman, Bridgette Dodd, Leslie Stephens and Lindsey Davenport.
Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, August 31, 2023 and Friday, September 1, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until her time of service.

Georgia Hawker

88-year-old Georgia Hawker of Dowelltown died Sunday at Waters at Winchester. She was a seamstress at Designs by Norvell.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 12 noon at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Nathan Hale will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 12 noon.
She was preceded in death by her parents Willie Owen and Ethel Ballinger; her husband Jr. Hawker; son Randy Hawker; Brothers, Edwin Owen and Donald Owens; and a sister Carlyne Dickey.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Hinson. Grandsons, Cole and Kelsey Hawker and Clint Hawker along with several nieces and nephews.
Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
