Kathy Watros Carter

Kathy Watros Carter age 48 of Smithville passed away Monday, November 8, 2021 at St. Thomas Hospital Midtown in Nashville. She was born January 14, 1973 to her parents, Joseph Watros and the late Donna Jane Dolkas Watros. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Ida W. Robbins. Kathy was disabled. She is survived by her husband, Roger Carter of Smithville; 4 step-children; 8 step-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Teri (Dwain) Rowe of Smithville, Jennifer (Jason) Hitchcock of Cookeville, and Brittney (Will) Odom of Smithville; several nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles also survive. The family chose a direct cremation and a Celebration of Life will be held later. The family ask in lieu of flowers that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Patricia Ann “Patty” Tallent

November 10, 2021

Patricia Ann “Patty” Tallent was born in Tampa, Florida, on April 4, 1959 and passed away on Friday October 29, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Larrie Brown and Gertrude Hamilton and her son, Alex Edwards. She is survived by her daughter Sheila Jensen, son-in-law Chris, son Cody Edwards, grandsons Mason and Wyatt Edwards, sisters Connie and Laura, brother Larry, and several nephews. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or your local drug abuse prevention and treatment facilities. Private family services will be held and her cremains will be placed in the ocean. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Robert Michael Eaton

Robert Michael Eaton age 68, of Silver Point passed away Friday night November 5, 2021 at his residence. He was born July 10, 1953 to his parents the late Bobby and Margaret Stewart Eaton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Morgan Eaton; siblings, Professor Harvill Eaton, and Connie Eaton. Mr. Eaton was affiliated with the Lebanon Road Church of Christ. He was a Musician, Singer/Songwriter, member of Nashville Songwriter Association, and a Grand Ole Opry Alumni. He is survived by son, Mike (Penny) Edwards of Smithville; daughter, Allison Vantrease of Knoxville; grandchildren, Cori Edwards, Kayla Cook, Maddie Cook; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Deerrick, Charles Derrick and Annalise Dale. The family has chosen a direct cremation and a private service will be held at a later date. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Carl “Tooter” Martin

November 8, 2021

Mr. Carl “Tooter” Martin age 59 of Smithville, TN passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital.

Mr. Martin was born on April 25, 1962 in Smithville, TN to his parents, the late Johnny Lee & Ruby Mae Martin Norman & a step father, Oscar Norman. He had worked in Construction and was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 1pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with burial to follow at DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, 5-8pm and Tuesday from 10am until the time of funeral services at 1pm.

Survivors include 4 children, Whitney Martin, Jeremiah Martin & Chantal Martin all of Smithville, TN and Malachi Martin of Manchester, TN. 3 Grandchildren, Kiara Martin, Krislyn Martin & Jazzalina Sullivan. 2 Sisters, Shirley McCoy Reedy of Smithville, TN & Christina (Jonathon) Young of Manchester, TN. Brother, Ronnie Reedy of Smithville, TN. 2 Nieces, Brittany (Jonathon) Hardison of Brentwood, TN & Kennedy Norman Young of Manchester, TN. Nephew, Jermaine McCoy of Smithville, TN. Great Nephew, Oscar Norman Hardison of Brentwood, TN. 3 Aunts, Peggy (James) Owens of Smithville, TN, Zeda Norman of Manchester, TN & Mary McCoy of Smithville, TN who was like a second mother to him. Uncle, Carl (Shirley) Norman of California. 2 Cousins sharing a special bond, Vickey Hayes Gwynn of Cookeville, TN & Jeff League of Smithville, TN. Host of Cousins & Friends also survive.

Neodia Frazier Cantrell

Neodia Frazier Cantrell age 80 of Dowelltown, passed away Friday afternoon November 5, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. She was born June 14, 1941 to her parents, the late James Douglas and Altie Ashburn Frazier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Cantrell; son, Danny Cantrell; sisters, Hazel Frazier and Virginia Hendrixson; brothers, Azero, Norman, Henry, Lester and Junior Frazier. She worked at Genesco and Texas Boot for many years. Neodia was a member of the People’s Pentecostal Church. She leaves to cherish her memory, 2 sons, Donald (Tammy) Cantrell of Dowelltown and Dwight (Carol) Cantrell of Pikeville; daughter-in-law, Brenda Cantrell of Dowelltown; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jonathan) Flatt, Jessica (Jeremy) Govero, Nicole Vientos, Chase Cantrell, Bryan (Mary) Cantrell, and Heather (Caleb) Shehane; step-grandchildren, Erin (Austin) Tobitt, Corey Clark, Josh (Sarah) Wallace and Daniel Wallace; several great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Marie (Horace) Bratcher of Dowelltown; brothers, Leo (Mildred) Frazier of Chattanooga, Roscoe (Pauline) Frazier of Dowelltown and Garlon (Ann) Frazier of Liberty; 2 sisters-in-law, Robbie Joan Frazier of Dowelltown and Ruth Prinzivalli of Smithville; bother-in-law, Joe Hendrixson of Liberty and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Ricky Scott and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Burton-Ponder Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 3 PM until 7 PM and Tuesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Joe Certain

Mr. Joe Certain age 64 of Smithville, TN passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at the Alive Hospice Center in Murfreesboro, TN.

Mr. Joe was born on October 31, 1957 in Lebanon, TN to his parents, the late Dallas & Nadine Bain Certain. Also preceding him in death was his brother, Buddy Certain & a granddaughter, Lashae Certain. He was a self employed Carpenter & was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at 1pm at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Billy Martin will officiate and burial will follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, from 2pm – 8pm and on Sunday, from 10am until the service time at 1pm.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Rose Thomason Certain of Smithville, TN. 3 Children, JoAnn Certain & Andy Certain both of Smithville, TN & Tommy (Jill) Certain of Cookeville, TN. 9 Grandchildren & 6 Great Grandchildren. Sister, Dalene Cannon of Murfreesboro, TN.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be made to the funeral home to help with burial expenses.
