Mr. Ricky Lee Shehane age 56 of Smithville, TN passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021 at the Emergency Room of St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital.
Mr. Shehane was born on April 23, 1964 to his Parents, the late Maxie Shehane & Ruth Judkins Cantrell. Also preceding him in death is a Daughter, Jennifer Shehane & 2 Brothers, Melvin Shehane & Buck Ferrell. Sister, Felisha Cantrell. He was disabled and had been a Nursery Worker.
Mr. Shehane’s wishes were that he be cremated. The family will hold a memorial service at a later time.
Survivors include his Son, Clent Shehane & 2 God Sons, Cody Murphy & Alex Murphy. 3 Sisters, Sarah Rogers, Barbara Bates & Karen Stacey. Mother-in-law, Elizabeth Bain. Brother-in-law, Ricky & Melissa Murphy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses.

Winket Jefferson Tramel

Winket Jefferson Tramel of Huntsville, Alabama, died March 2, 2021, following complications from COVID.
He was born in Dekalb County Tennessee on January 18, 1938, to Tallmer Petway Tramel and Ocie Hale Beckwith Tramel.
He was married to the love of his life, Emily Jane Geer Tramel on June 15, 1958. He loved to tell everyone he met that he had been married over 62 ½ years to his wonderful wife, and that he loved her more now than the day that he married her. They had 2 children, Deborah Lynne Tramel Collette (David) and Robert Wallace Tramel (Terri).
Winket was a native of Dekalb County Tennessee and he graduated in 1956 from Dekalb County High School. He went on to graduate from Tennessee Technological University in 1963 with a degree in Civil Engineering. While in college he was elected to Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and was honored to serve on the prestigious Joint Engineering Council. He lived and worked in McMinnville, Tennessee for the majority of his life, only recently moving to Huntsville, Alabama, to be near his children. He worked for 35 years for the same company, building many life long relationships, retiring in 1998 as a branch manager for APAC, Inc.
Prior to his move to Alabama, he was an active member of First United Methodist Church in McMinnville, Tennessee, where he loved to attend the Sunday Morning Contemporary Service. He was very involved in outreach and helping other people. He cooked and delivered meals for the Good Neighbor program, helped lead the Superstar program for seniors, and worked with the Fuel Bag program providing food for school children on weekends. His service to the community and to the church earned him a Special Mission Recognition Membership awarded by The United Methodist Women (UMW). He also prepared breakfast for Breakfast Rotary, which earned him an honorary Lifetime Rotary Membership.
Throughout his life he had many hobbies, some of which included photography, woodworking, model trains, and jigsaw puzzles. He loved to watch both the Tennessee Titans and the Tennessee Volunteers football games. He also earned a pilots license in his younger years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Tallmer Petway Tramel and Ocie Hale Beckwith Tramel; and two sisters, Christine Tramel Moore (Howard) and Ruth Beckwith Taylor (J.B.).
He is survived by his devoted wife Emily Jane Geer Tramel; his children, Deborah Lynne Tramel Collette (David) and Robert Wallace Tramel (Terri); three grandchildren, Emily Clare Collette (Bartlee Linton), Olivia Anne Collette, and Mark Robert Tramel; two sisters, Marguerite Tramel Jones (McKinley) and Linda Tramel Stanley (Fred); sister-in-law Virginia Geer Clifford (George); and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on March 19, 2021, at 10:00 am at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville, Tennessee. The family requests all attendees to wear masks and to social distance, regardless of vaccine status, in order to prevent the spread of COVID.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Building Fund at First United Methodist Church in McMinnville, Tennessee.

James Douglas Frazier, Jr.

James Douglas Frazier, Jr. age 82 of Alexandria, passed away Thursday morning, March 11, 2021 at his granddaughter’s home in Smithville. He was born January 16, 1939 to his parents, the late James Douglas and Lera Altie Ashburn Frazier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 sister, Hazel Frazier and 4 brothers, Azero, Norman, Henry and Lester Frazier. He was a carpenter and a Baptist. Junior is survived by 3 children, Kim (Gene) William of Alexandria, Shane (Beth) Frazier of Smithville and Kyshanna Frazier of Alexandria; grandchildren, Caressa Parker, Caleb Parker and Peyton Frazier; great-granddaughter, Trinity Parker; siblings, Roscoe (Pauline) Frazier of Dowelltown, Leo (Mildred) Frazier of GA, Neodia Cantrell of Dowelltown, Marie (Horace) Bratcher of Dowelltown, Virginia (Joe) Hendrixson of Liberty and Garlon (Ann) Frazier of Liberty; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, March 13, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. Visitation will be Friday 4 PM until 7 PM and Saturday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. Due to Covid-19 and social distancing guidelines, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. The pews in the chapel are marked off to respect these guidelines and allow 100-125 people for the service. Jessica Owen age 43 passed away Saturday at her residence in Smithville. She was born January 4, 1978 to her parents James Owen and the late Cheryl Lynn Owen. She was affiliated with Freewill Baptist Church and worked in the office/clerical at Model City. Ms. Owen is survived by her father, James Owen of Smithville; 1 sister, Ashley Nichole Owen of Smithville; 1 brother, James Lynn (Jennifer) Owen of Smithville; 1 niece, Haylea Owen; 2 nephews, Christian and Colton Owen. Graveside services will be Wednesday March 10, 2021 at DeKalb Cemetery at 1:00PM with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. There will not be any services or visitation held at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery. The family asked that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Lori Ann Kilgore age 49 passed away Sunday March 7, 2021. She was born January 18, 1972 to her parents Charlotte McCormick and the late J. C. McCormick. She attended Old Fashioned Freewill Baptist Church for many years and she worked as a clerk in retail sales. She is survived by her son, Clay (Mariah) Kilgore of Smithville; grandbabies, Briar Rose Kilgore, and Marshall Hace Kilgore; mother, Charlotte McCormick of Smithville; sisters, Denise (Dave) Kreiger of Murfreesboro, and Carla Young of Smithville; brother, Jamie McCormick of Smithville. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Tim Pack officiating and burial to follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday 11:00AM until the time of the service at 3:00PM. Billy Judd Murphy age 83 passed away Thursday evening March 4, 2021 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was born November 6, 1937 to his parents the late, William Pete and Nettie Maureen Judkins Murphy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Janis Murphy. Mr. Murphy was a member of the Church of Christ. He worked as an Aircraft Fabricator, baseball coach for many years, and a CB and Ham Radio enthusiast. He is survived by 2 sons, Jason Judd (Tamara) Murphy of Smithville, Jeremy Dearman (Sabra) Murphy of Smithville; grandchildren, Braya Murphy, Nixon Murphy, Briahna Murphy, Addison Murphy; brother, Thomas Jewell (Delma) Murphy of Roswell, GA.; 2 nieces, Heather Shelnut, Amanda Murphy; nephew, Sean Murphy. Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday March 7, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dan Gulley officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday 2 PM until 6 PM and Sunday 1 PM until the time of the service at 2 PM.
