Vicky Lynn Vanatta

Ms. Vicky Lynn Vanatta, age 60 of Dowelltown, TN passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Ms. Vicky was born on August 6, 1960 in DeKalb County, TN to her parents, the late Ervin & Jimmie Martin Beacham. Also preceding her in death is her brother, Raymond Beacham & a sister, Mary Wray. She was self employed as a house cleaner.

The family has chosen cremation with a memorial service being held at a later time.

Survivors include 2 Children, Felisha Vanatta Cantrell of Smithville, TN & Kevin Vanatta of Smithville, TN. 6 Grandchildren. 3 Brothers, Jessie (Jan) Beacham & Jimmy (Cindy) Beacham both of McMinnville, TN, Mark (Renee) Beacham of Dowelltown, TN. 2 Sisters, Judy Beacham of PA & Barbara Beacham of Dowelltown, TN. Special Nephew & Niece, Cody Beacham of Smithville, TN & Ashley Street of MI.

Brittney Danielle Barnes

Brittney Danielle Barnes age 33 of Smithville passed away Monday July 12, 2021 in Smithville. She was born February 9, 1988 to her parents, Marvin Eric Barnes and the late Tonya Elaine Bittner Caldwell. She was a retail sales clerk and a Christian. In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by grandparents: Evan Bittner & Jan Bittner Anderson; Uncle: Tyler Bittner. Funeral services for Ms. Brittney will be held 1 PM Friday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in New Union Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday 11:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. Survivors include Father: Eric Barnes of Smithville; 2 Children: Brooklyn Barnes and Brinson Barnes both of Smithville; Half-Brother: Cole Barnes (Molly Lemoine) of Murfreesboro; Grandparents: Brownie & Peggy Barnes of Smithville; Uncles: Darrin (Cheryl) Barnes, Jeff Barnes both of Smithville; Cousins: Brandon (Crystal) Barnes, Blake Barnes. Family ask that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. Due to COVID-19 the LOUNGE is CLOSED and NO FOOD OR DRINKS are allowed in the funeral home. James Larry Taylor

July 13, 2021

James Larry Taylor age 72, passed away Monday July 12, 2021 at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville. He was born October 30, 1948 to his parents, the late James Paul & Earlene Pittman Taylor. He was a computer engineer, U.S. Army Veteran & retired from Army National Guard and loved bowling. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 12 Noon until 4 PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial will be Monday July 19, 2021 at 1 PM in the Middle TN Veterans Cemetery in Nashville. Survivors include Daughter: Shannon Taylor of Nashville; Son: Randy Peterson of Nashville; Grandson: Kye Taylor Peterson; Mother of his children: Janice Clement of Nashville; Several cousins also survive. Due to Covid-19 the Lounge is CLOSED and NO FOOD OR DRINKS are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Jimmy Maurice Tubbs

Mr. Jimmy Maurice Tubbs, affectionately known as “JT”, was born June 27, 1948. He was the oldest of 8 children born to the late Edward Tubbs. Jr. & Dorothy Marion Tubbs. He was born in Lebanon, TN at Martha Gaston Hospital.

Jimmy attended the first African American School Rosenwald in Alexandria, TN in his early years. He also attended Wilson County Training High School in Lebanon, TN until segregation was abolished in DeKalb County. He then attended DeKalb County High School were he graduated class of 1966.

Jimmy was drafted into the United States Army in 1968. He served as a Private First Class. He was a member of the 4th Infantry Division Stationed in Vietnam. Jimmy was injured March of 1969.

Upon his return home, he married Jacqueline Hancock in February of 1971. From this union, a daughter was born, Andrea Charese Tubbs.

Jimmy gave his life to Christ and became a member of Grace Bible Church. Despite his injuries, he defied all odds at every turn. He continued to live life to the fullest.

He is preceded in death by 2 brother-in-laws, Floyd League, Jr. & Lewis L. Bass & 1 niece, Martisha A. League. Jimmy is survived by his Daughter, Andrea (Harold) Keeley & his adoptive Daughter, Tori Garrett. 2 Grandchildren, Jalissa (Damion Roddy) Tubbs & Kierra Tubbs. 1 Great Grandson, Jamion Maurice Hendrix Roddy. Brother, Eddie (Maureen) Tubbs. 2 Cousins/Brothers, Ronald (Angela) Eddings & Billie Don (Nancy) Bohannon. 6 Sisters, Doris League, Sandra Bass, Brenda Savage, Linda Gail Neal, Yvette (Randall) Carver & Tina (Bryan) Tubbs-Peebles. 4 Nieces & 4 Nephews, Host of Great Nieces /Nephews, Great Great Nieces/Nephews, Cousins & Friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 1pm from the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Deacon Darren Dilligard & Eulogist, Bro. Roy Cason will officiate and burial will follow at Dowell Cemetery in Alexandria, TN with Military Honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 5-8pm & Saturday from 12 until the service time at 1pm.

Argie Nell Lamberson

Ms. Argie Nell Lamberson age 91, of the Temperance Hall Community passed away Saturday night, July 10, 2021 at her residence. She was born February 20, 1930 to her parents, the late Bill Yancey and Allie Claro Page Malone. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Lamberson; brother, Sammie Malone; 4 sisters-in-law, Ogal Trusty, Frankey Mosley, Helen Hanks, Dean Winnard; aunt, Alta Lee Page Close; Godchild, John Charles Mosley. Ms. Lamberson was a Baptist and worked at the shirt factory. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Lois Winnard Page, Kevin (Mary Lou) Page, Michael Trusty, Tanice (Larry) Fox, Ronnie Hanks; cousins, Paul Close, Doris Estes, Marjorie Patterson; 1/2 cousin, Betty Ann Barnes; Godchildren, Declan and Lilah Quintero; special friends, Betty Jean Agee, Marion Starr Driver; special caregivers, Terry and Glenda Hall and family. Funeral services will be held Thursday July 15, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel at 11:AM with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 4 PM till 7 PM and Thursday 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. In addition to flowers, donations can be made to DeKalb Animal Coalition, in memory of Ms. Lamberson. The funeral home lounge is closed and NO food or drinks are allowed anywhere in the funeral home. Audrey Parker Owens

Funeral services for Mrs. Audrey Parker Owens will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Lebanon with Pastor Evan Owens, Bro. W. D. Thomason and Pastor Jeff Pratt officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens with Bro. Nathan Hale and Bro. Stan Edwards officiating. Visitation Monday 3-8 PM and Tuesday 1-3 PM at Immanuel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Owens, age 86 of Lebanon passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021, at her home.

Born November 4, 1934, in Smithville, Tennessee, she is the daughter of the late Charlie and Anna Bell Curtis Parker. She was a devoted pastor’s wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Parker, and a grandson, Destry Nave.

She is survived by her husband of sixty nine years, Bro. Donald Owens; three children: David (Mary) Owens, Terry (Nancy) Owens, and Krisa (Jason) Bush; grandchildren: Joel (Erin) Owens, Evan (Megan) Owens, Grant Owens, Callie (Ethan) Farley, Jake Bush, and Jordan Bush; great grandchildren: Colbie Owens, Murphy Jane Nave, Rhett Owens, Mack Owens, and Maeve Farley.
