Paul Hilton Ferrell

Paul Hilton Ferrell, 78, passed away Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020 at St. Thomas Dekalb E/R. He was a native of Cannon Co.

He is survived by his daughter, Viva Johnson of Smithville; grandchildren, Brad and Brandie Johnson, Melissa Johnson and Debra Johnson; 4 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie James and Nanny Mae Jones Ferrell, his wife, Nellie Marie Ferrell and siblings, Jones, Charles W., Billy and Nadine Ferrell.

Mr. Ferrell was a member of the church of Christ and he enjoyed picking a guitar. He was retired from State of TN with the Forestry dept. and TDOT.

Funeral Services will be 3 pm Sunday, October 4, 2020 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Mt. Aarat Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 4 to 8 pm.

Charlie Watson

October 1, 2020

Mr. Charlie Watson, age 94 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday night, September 29, 2020 at NHC of Cookeville.

Charlie was born on February 2, 1926 in Dewitt, New York to his parents, the late Harry & Bessie Frye Watson. Also preceding him in death is his wife, Priscilla Belle Watson & a daughter, Helen Cassino. Mr. Watson served in the United States Navy at the rank of Chief Petty Officer as a chef. He served his country during WWII and continued until his retirement at 30 years of service. Most of his career was spent on a Submarine, the “Sea Dragon” and then the later part of his time was on an Aircraft Carrier, the “USS Saratoga.” Charlie was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon among other commendations.

Mr. Charlie’s family has chosen cremation. No services are planned at this time.

He is survived by 2 Daughters, Audrey Baker & Nancy Dodrill both of FL. Grandchildren, Donna Chambless, Charlene Vizard, Elizabeth Obrien & Ronald Baker. Several Great Grandchildren & Great Great Grandchildren also survive.

Samanda Lee Armour

October 1, 2020

Mrs. Samanda Lee Armour passed on Tuesday Sept. 29 at her residence in Smithville. Mrs. Armour was 54 years old and attended Indian Creek Baptist Church. She was a retired cafeteria worker at NHC in Smithville.

Visitation with the Armour family will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Armour was preceded in death by her parents Jessie Armour Jr. & Connie Harvery Armour and 1 Sister- Sharon Thomason

Mrs. Armour is survived by her son Jonathan (Terra) Armour, 4 Grandchildren- Victor, Thomas & Hunter Locklear and Alisha Armour, 1 Brother- John (Stephanie) Armour, 1 Sister- Joanie Butler all of Smithville. Several nieces & nephews and long time friend Janie Pedigo also survive.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations please be made to the funeral home to help with burial expenses.

Mildred Delorse Judkins

September 29, 2020

Mildred Delorse Judkins age 76 of Smithville passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at St, Thomas DeKalb Hospital. She was born July 29, 1944 to her parents, the late Herman Cain and Clara Mai Lawson Caldwell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands, Eston Griffin and Grady Judkins; grandson, Coty Griffin; brother, Paul Caldwell; sister, Judy Caldwell. Ms. Judkins worked at the shirt factory, did farming and worked in nursery, and she was a Pentecostal. She is survived by son, Donnie Griffin of Smithville; granddaughter, Jamie (Phillip) Bain of Smithville; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Bain, Benjamin Bain, Sarah Bain, Weston Griffin and Millee Griffin; sisters, Jody Cole of Sparta, Patricia Graves of Alexandria, and Evelyn Lawson of Watertown; brother, Ricky Caldwell; several nieces and nephews also survive along with her best buddy Taco. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 1:00PM with Bro. Charlie Lawson officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday October 1, 2020 at 11:00AM until the time of the service at 1:00PM. Due to COVID-19, the Governors Executive Orders 38 and 51 and Social Distancing Guidelines, our pews are marked off to respect these guidelines and allow approximately 100-125 people for the service. We ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. The Funeral Home Lounge is closed at this time and No Food or Drinks are allowed in the funeral home. Millisa Darlene White

Millisa Darlene White age 68 of Dowelltown passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020 at her residence. She was born March 31, 1952 to her parents, the late Millard and Fannie Bell Smith Arterburn. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Charles White; son, Jimmy Nicholson; siblings, Margaret Winters and James Burton. Ms. White was retired as an office clerk with the Department of Human Services and was a member of New Life Apostolic Church in Carthage. She is survived by children, Annette (Mike) Bodily of Dowelltown, and Steve (Audrie) Nicholson of Gordonsville; grandchildren, Joseph Bodily, Brandee Ryan, Matthew Bodily, Chealsea Nicholson, Cody Nicholson, Shelley Nicholson, Caleb Nicholson; great-grandchildren, McKenize Bodily, Karson Bodily and 1 expectant great-grandson; brothers, Bill Arterburn of Nashville, and Frank Litchford of Mt. Juliet; sister, Pam Litchford of Murfreesboro. A worship service will be held at New Life Apostolic Church in Carthage, Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 2 PM with Pastor Clayton Neal officiating. Family and Friends will meet at the Church at 2 PM for the worship service. In addition to flowers, donations may be made to the New Life Apostolic Church in Carthage Building Fund. Stella Elizabeth Knowles Dyer

Stella Elizabeth Knowles Dyer age 79 of Smithville, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 27, 2020 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. She was born June 9, 1941 in Smithville to her parents, Woodrow and Lorene Jaco Knowles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Dyer; siblings, Jimmy Knowles, Faye Cole, Doyle Knowles and 2 infant brothers. She worked 40 years at the shirt factory and was a Baptist and attended Temple Baptist Church. She is survived by 2 sisters, Linda (Steve) Hale and Anita (Eddie) Moore both of Smithville; 3 brothers, Gerald (Altie) Knowles, Donald (Donna Kay) Knowles and Melvin Knowles all of Smithville; a host of nieces and nephews and special family Anthony, Tonya and Elijah Boyd. Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Shannon Cantrell and Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday 4 PM until 7 PM and Wednesday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
