Nancy LeElla Hudgens Puckett Bell

Woodbury resident and White County, Tn native Nancy LeElla Hudgens Puckett Bell, 85, was born April 23, 1939 and died peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
She was the daughter of the late Milburn and Rebecca Fancher Hudgens of Sparta, Tn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Dr. Larry Jackson Puckett of Smithville, and by her sister Barbara Hudgens Crouch of Cookeville, maternal grandparents Thomas and Nannie Brown Fancher of Sparta and paternal grandparents Willie Hampton Hudgens and LeElla Cummings Hudgens of Sparta.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. James Bell, of Woodbury, son David Puckett (Cheryl), Clearwater Beach, Florida, daughter, Amy Puckett Corley (Michael), McMinnville, TN, sister Mary (Sissy) Leech, Nashville, four grandchildren, Peter Corley (Kasie), Luke Corley, Nealie Puckett Miller (Justin); 4 great-grandchildren Henry Jackson Corley, Evelyn Grace Corley, Jackson Cedar Miller, and August River Miller.
Mrs. Nancy was a devoted Christian, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and housewife.
She was a help and comfort to her husband, a loving mother and grandmother who spent many hours feeding, reading to, and playing with her grandchildren. She enjoyed making a beautiful, warm, and welcoming home, cooking, painting, writing stories, growing flowers, and most of all spending time with her family, friends, and church. She was a diligent student of the Bible, which led her to treat everyone with kindness, warmth, and friendliness.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, March 24, 2024 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Dan Gulley officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Holly Cemetery, Smithville, Tennessee, next to her beloved husband, Larry. A visitation will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

David Lee Williams

David Lee Williams age 58 of Smithville passed away Wednesday March 20, 2024 at his step-son’s residence. He was born January 21, 1966 to his parents the late Donald Dean and Lois Evelyn Wagoner Williams. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister, Vickie Benites. Mr. Williams worked as a Medical Transcriptionist. He is survived by step-son, Zachery (Miranda) Kubiak of Smithville; step-granddaughter, Kaylee Rena Kubiak; 2 step-grandsons, Jacob and Aaron Maple of Smithville. The family has honored Mr. Williams request to be cremated and no services are planned at this time. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Williams family.
Mitzi Sheryl Savage Lunsford

Mitzi Sheryl Savage Lunsford peacefully departed this earthly life on March 13, 2024 with her daughter by her side. Sheryl had been living in Greenville, SC, but she was a native and long-time resident of DeKalb County, TN. She also lived in Cookeville, TN for several years where she was a member of Steven Street Baptist Church.
Sheryl’s life was marked by boldness, love, and laughter. She loved reading, country music, and a sweet cup of coffee. Her grandbabies were the light of her life, her daughters her most precious gifts, and her friends her greatest treasures.
She held positions at the shirt factory, Norvell, Body Drench, and the Middle Tennessee Times. She enjoyed being a “West School Mom” and teaching the “Jesus Jammers” at Upper Helton Baptist Church. She had wonderful memories of working at Birchie’s in her younger years and never forgot the “only correct way” to cut a pie.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sue Barrett; stepfather, Doug (Barbara) Barrett; parental grandparents, Wade, Sr. and Dorina Savage; maternal grandparents, Mildred White and William Donald Apple; step-grandmother, Bertie Barrett; and by her sister, Melody Guinn.
She is survived by her daughter, Tayla Bree (Braden) Wade of Greenville, SC; stepdaughter, Deidre (Jerry) Vigil Cordova of Little Rock, AR; grandchildren, Luke and Judah Wade of Greenville, SC and Felex Nelson of Arkansas; two sisters, Angela Barrett (Shawn) Puckett of Smithville and Pamela Savage (Randy) Loague of Columbia, TN; and by three brothers, Lee Reynolds (Kathy Davis) of Christiana, TN, Tommy (Stacie) Barrett of Shelbyville, TN, and Bill (Tracy) Hart of Alabama.
She is also survived by her special aunt, Janice Apple; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was truly blessed with many dear friends over her lifetime.
In honor of her choice of direct cremation, a visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at Love Cantrell Funeral Home in Smithville, TN on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. A memorial service will take place directly following at 12:00 p.m.
Per Sheryl’s wishes, no flowers or gifts shall be sent to the family. She has requested donations be made in her memory to Lighthouse Christian Camp or the American Lung Association.
Leroy Hale

Leroy Hale age 69 of Smithville passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was born October 5, 1954, to his parents the late Henry Hobert and Ruby Elizabeth Thomas Hale. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Penny Hale; sister and brother-in-law, Clara (Phillip) Wilkey, sisters-in-law, Cynthia Hale, Connie Brownfield; brothers-in-law: Joe Harrison, Lonnie Pack, Daniel “Duck” Anderson; nephews: John Keith Hale and Anthony Hale. Mr. Hale was a Baptist and worked at Tenneco for several years. He is survived by sons, Frank Wilkey, Leroy Hale II,; daughters: Carolyn (OJ Febus) Hale and Angela (Logan) Murphy; grandchildren: Brylie and Kenley Wilkey, Ariana Keith, TJ Bratcher, Emma and Elena Murphy, Mikeal (Destiny) Wooden, LeAnn (Scott) Wright, Josh (Aspen) Carlton, Monica (Andres) Perez, Megan Cunningham; great-grandchildren: Makayla, Christian, Brooklyn, Austin, Oaklynn, Madison and Grasyn Wright, Amora Perez, Carsen, Kamden, Analie Wooden; brothers: Steve (Linda) Hale, Thomas Hale, John (Candy) Hale, Charlie (Ellen) Hale; sisters: Betty Pack, Pauline Crook; Sister-in-law: Ginger Anderson; lots of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday March 22, 2024, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Brad Murphy and Bro. Zack Murphy officiating and burial to follow in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Visitation with the family be Thursday 4 PM until 7 PM and on Friday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. Henry Huston Rowland

Henry Huston Rowland age 89 of Smithville passed away March 18, 2024, at Quality Center for Rehabilitation and Healing in Lebanon. He was born August 7, 1934, to his parents the late John Dee and Maude Carlton Rowland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Beula Fay Rowland; siblings, Charles Rowland, Earlene Underwood, and Emmitt Ray Rowland. Mr. Rowland was a member of Keltonburg Chruch of Christ, served in the United States Navy for 10 years and worked at Power Matic for more that 30 years. He is survived by children, Lisa (Daniel) Helms of Smithville, Jeff (Crystal) Rowland of Smithville, and Ronnie (Phyllis) Samples of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Emily (Jody) Lattimore, Dustin (Crystal) Summers, and Jason Samples; great-grandchildren, Blaine Lattimore, Kinsley Summers, Allisa Summers, and Hudson Samples; brother, Jerry (Linda) Rowland of Murfreesboro; sisters, Judy Rowland of Kentucky and Lillie Faye Burks of McMinnville. Funeral services will be held Thursday March 21 at 3:30 PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Tommy Underwood officiating and burial to follow in New Union Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held Wednesday March 20, 2024, at 3:00 PM untill 7:00 PM and on Thursday March 21, 2024, 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 3:30 PM. Mr. Ernest Jr. Pack

Mr. Ernest Jr. Pack, age 96 of Smithville, passed away early Tuesday morning at his residence in the Jefferson community. Mr. Pack was an Army veteran and a member of Mt. Hope The Baptist Church.
He was born on June 12, 1927 in Smithville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ernest and Effie Cantrell Pack, two wives: Claudean Turner Pack and Anna Audine Turner Pack, one son: Ricky Pack, one step-son: Jimmy Turner and one step-grandson: Eric Hawkins.
Visitation with the Pack family will be on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 10:00 am till the service at 1:00 pm. at Love-Cantrell Chapel. Bro. Rick Lee will officiate and burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery.
He is survived by two step-daughters: Judy Pat (Gary) Mucha and Treba (Don) Hawkins of Smithville, one step-granddaughter: Danielle Turner of Texas, two step-grandsons: Tracy (Laura) Stanley and Trent (Michelle) Hawkins all of Smithville, special niece: Denice (Mike) Reeder, two special nephews: Harvey Turner and Donnie Strinking. A very special caregiver: Debbie Ashmore Schrecongost. A host of family and friends also survive.
