Cynthia Ann Hill, age 71 of the Short Mountain Community of Cannon County passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. She was born December 31, 1951 to her parents, the late Thomas Ross and Inas Irene Beatty Hill, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Elizabeth Hill. She was a Methodist and worked in retail for 14 years, drafter 6 years, customer service rep and store manager. She was a member of the Short Mountain Fire Dept and a Girl Scout Leader. Cynthia enjoyed working with people in all aspects of her life, customers, neighbors, girl scouts and their families. She was very creative and spent many hours in building and selling her crafts. She took care of her sister Mary until she passed and missed her dearly. She also loved her dog and cat. She is survived by 2 brothers, Thomas Ross (Janice W.) Hill, Jr.; Robert Anthony Hill; nephew, Thomas W. Hill. The family has honored her request to be cremated. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Joyce Wanda Foster Hall

Joyce Wanda Foster Hall age 86 of the Statesville Community and a longtime resident of Abbeville, AL, passed away Friday afternoon December 15, 2023, at the home of her nephew. She was born June 9, 1937, in Smithville, to her parents the late Alvie Rosco and Mattie Lee Puckett Foster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Warren Hall; brothers, John and Rosco Foster; sister, Juanita Redmon; nephews, Mitchell, Mark and Jeff Redmon. She was a member of the Buckner’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was a salesperson with Walmart and Form Fit Rogers. She is survived by 4 nieces, Vicky Brannon, Jan Sparks, Annette Foster, and Susan Green; 3 nephews, Perry Redmon, Tim Redmon and Tony Foster; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 12:Noon Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Burton-Ponder Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 12:Noon. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
John Thomas Mynatt

John Thomas Mynatt, a dedicated family man and accomplished finance professional, passed away on December 7, 2023, in Nashville, TN, at the age of 77.
John was born on July 6, 1946, in Atlanta, GA to William Owen Mynatt and Rachel Hardin Mynatt. On October 6, 1973, he married Patricia Shepherd Mynatt, and they shared over 50 years of love and companionship. Together they navigated life’s adventures, from raising 3 daughters and working with each other in finance to exploring the world through travel.
John is survived by his wife Pat, 3 daughters, Marcy Trimble (Justin), Nicole Bickerstaff (Ripley) all of Nashville, and Corinne Mynatt of London UK, along with 4 grandsons, Ripley Jr, John, Ford Bickerstaff, and Lochlan Trimble. He is also remembered by his sister-in-law, Beverly Oxford (Gerry), niece Ashley Oxford of Los Angeles CA, and nephew Graham Oxford of New York.
John’s legacy extends beyond his 50 plus years of professional accomplishments. He was a devoted member of St. George’s Episcopal Church, an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman. A lover of old cars, nostalgic about old Nashville, and devoted to spending quality time with his family. His favorite tunes from the Beach Boys, echoing from his youth as the lead singer of local cover band, Beechnuts, are a testament to his vibrant spirit.
John spent time as the Assistant Director of Finance under Mayor Richard Fulton and oversaw the Employee Benefit Board, leaving a positive impact on public service.
He will be remembered for his outgoing nature, perseverance, and charm. His admirable qualities touched the lives of many. He faced adversity with a strong work ethic, competitive spirit, and a 30-year battle against lupus, showcasing resilience and determination.
A visitation will be held at St. George’s Episcopal Church on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Noon, followed by a service in the Nave at 1:30 pm. A private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LUPUS FOUNDATION, The Salvation Army, and the Nashville Rescue Mission.

Alda Lee age 83, of Smithville, passed away Tuesday morning December 12, 2023, at Smith County Health and Rehab Center in Carthage. She was born January 25, 1940, to her parents the late Jerome and Aletha Munk Funk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Tom Lee; sisters, Marva Apostle, and Noreen Bingham. Ms. Alda was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and she was a Homemaker. She is survived by her children, Patsy Haws, David Jerome Wade, Susan Bonelli, Warren Hershal Lyons-Wade, Denise Diane Archer, and Kimberli Ann Hatch; stepchildren, Connie Stacy and Joyce Ferrell; 15 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great- grandchildren; special friends, Charlie Lawson and Jessie Mashburn. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday December 15, 2023, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, December 15, 2023, at 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Della Delynn “DD” Hancock Burgess

Mrs. Della Delynn “DD” Hancock Burgess, age 63, of Hendersonville, passed away Tuesday morning, December 12, 2023 at Tristar Medical Center in Nashville. She was a retired legal secretary and a Baptist.
She was born on May 25, 1960 in Murfreesboro. She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Sexton Hancock.
Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 and on Thursday from 9:00 until the service at 11:00 in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Chad Ramsey will officiate and burial will be in Prosperity Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 18 years, Tim Burgess of Hendersonville, father, Dan Hancock of Smithville, 2 brothers, Jeffrey Hancock of Dover and Wade (Mary Helen) Hancock of Smithville, 1 sister, Sharon Dawn Hancock of Nashville, niece, Emma Caroline Hancock and nephew, Grady Lee Hancock.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations please be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice.
