Jerry Morris Bain

Mr. Jerry Morris Bain, age 71 of Liberty, passed away Wednesday afternoon at Willow Branch Health and Rehab in Warren County. He was a retired self-employed construction worker and was of the Old Fashioned Free Will Baptist faith.

He was born on September 22, 1952 in Smithville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vestor Lee and Ocia Marie Arnold and 1 brother, Jeffery Lee Arnold.

The family has chosen direct cremation and there will be no visitation.

Survivors include 5 children, Jordan (Amber) Bain of Rock Island, Bradley (Juli) Bain of GA, Chelsea (Dusty) Billings, Penny (Ed) Walker and Veronica (Gary) Johnson all of Smithville, 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 2 sisters, Peggy Hensley of Sparta and Peggy Merriman of Smithville, 3 brothers, Larry Bain, David (Georgia) Bain and Ronnie (Patricia) Arnold all of Smithville, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Arlene Marie Thomason

December 12, 2023

Arlene Marie Thomason age 76, of Smyrna passed away early Monday morning December 11, 2023, at N H C of Murfreesboro. She was born March 14, 1947, to her parents the late Frank E. and Louise Knox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Jimmy Lee Thomason; 2 step-children, Gail Thomason and Jimmy Wade Thomason; brothers, John, Frank, Bill, and Tom Knox. Ms. Thomason was a member of Sunset Hill Baptist Church in Brentwood and was a retired factory worker. She is survived by step-daughters, Carolyn Farrar of Murfreesboro, and Janie (Larry) Dickens of Smithville; step-sons, Tony (Renee) Thomason of Lebanon and Steve Thomason of Smithville; several nieces and nephews ; great nieces and nephews; brother, Jerry Knox of South Bend, Ind. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Steve Durham officiating and burial to follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 12:Noon. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital, in memory of Ms. Arlene. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Cordell “Corky” Jackson Britt II

December 7, 2023

Mr. Cordell “Corky” Jackson Britt II, age 63, passed away on Monday evening, December 4, 2023, at his residence. He was the retired owner of Corky’s Gun Shop. He loved hunting and the great outdoors. Everyone that knew him loved him. He loved his family and friends.

He was born on October 2, 1960 in Nashville, TN. His parents were Cordell & Iva Harriet Britt who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Gary, Wayne and Ricky Britt and 2 sisters, Belinda Harness and Sandy Greer.

Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 10:00 am until service time at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Donnie Kelly will officiate. Mr. Britt will then be cremated per his request.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Mary Jo Tatrow Britt, 2 daughters, Sommer (Tony) Luna of Smithville, Valerie (Wesley) Slager of Alexandria, 1 son, Eli Porterfield of Dowelltown, 3 grandchildren, Kyra (Kota) Goodwin, Kolton and Kolby Slager all of Alexandria, 2 great-grandchildren, Jax and Raelynn Goodwin, several nieces and nephew also survive.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.

1sgt. H. G. “Fritz” Pullin

December 5, 2023

1sgt. H. G. “Fritz” Pullin age 75 of Smithville passed away Friday December 1, 2023, at his residence. He was born April 30, 1948, in Refugio, Texas to his parents the late Curtis and Marjorie Ellison Pullin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bill Pullin and Larry Pullin. Fritz served 24 years in the United States Army, he was a Computer Programmer and Owned a Painting Company. He is survived by his wife, Susan Pullin of Smithville; son, Michael C. Pullin of Texas; step-son, Michael Reeder of Smithville; longtime friend, Dennis Blackford. He met his wife through his longtime friend and Army buddy, Dennis Blackford. It did not take long for Fritz and Susan to realize that God had put them together. They enjoyed being on the water, traveling or just sitting on the porch. As long as they were together, they were happy. Funeral service will be 1 PM Wednesday, December 6, 2023, with Bro. Billy Martin officiating and burial to follow in Blackford Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Tuesday 1 PM till 7 PM and on Wednesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. The family ask in lieu of flowers please donate to the Wounded Warrior Project, Shriners Hospital or St. Judes Hospital. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Corey Glenn Pedigo

Corey Glenn Pedigo, age 46 of Cookeville and formerly of Smithville, passed away at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro on Saturday, December 2, 2023.  Corey was born on June 4, 1977 in Northfield, Minnesota. He formally worked for DCS, and also CPS as a probation officer and helped implement the program of the DeKalb County Drug Recovery Court.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Ray Bogle, Jr.; sister, Bobbie Pedigo; and grandparents, Garland and Marie Pedigo and Marvin Moe. He is survived by his husband, Jeremy Pedigo and children, Carson Pedigo and Aubrey Pedigo all of Cookeville; mother, Sherry Riggs of Farmington, Minnesota; father, Glynn (Melody) Pedigo of Smithville; 4 brothers, Russell (Dava) Pedigo of Smithville, Christopher Saunders of Swatara, Minnesota, John Pedigo of Smithville, and Randy (Regena) Pedigo of Smithville; 2 sisters, Sarah (Jack) Mladek of Montgomery, Minnesota, and Amanda Davis of Hohenwald; grandparents, Odessa (Dave) Dubbels of Farmington, Minnesota.

There will be visitation with the family on Monday from noon until 7pm, and on Tuesday from 10am until the time of service at 2pm with Greg Wright officiating. Internment will follow at Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.




Thermon Neal Harrison

December 2, 2023

Thermon Neal Harrison, age 93 of Alexandria, died Thursday evening at Quality Care Health Center in Lebanon. Born June 14, 1930, in Brush Creek, he was the son of the late Esker and Eva Parker Harrison and was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Robertson Harrison and his daughter-in-law, Julie Malone Harrison. Thermon was a Sgt. in the US Army serving in the Korea Conflict and was an Elder and member of the Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church. He was a farmer and former board member of the Wilson Co. Farm Bureau, he worked for both Kraft Foods and the Dekalb Co. Livestock Market during his career. He was an avid ROOK player and enjoyed a good game with his Alexandria friends. Thermon is survived by his son, Thermon Keith Harrison; grandchildren, Jonathan Carwin (Bethany) Harrison, Jacob Neal (Amelia) Harrison and Macy Inez (Evan) Potts; great grandchildren, Jack Malone Harrison, Wade Carwin Harrison and Banks Campbell Harrison; sister Geraldine (James) Cantrell; brothers, Norris Harrison, and Lawrence (Janice) Harrison; sister-in-law, Marjorie (Charles) Lanius; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters-in-law, Bobbie Ruth Harrison, and Eleanor (JB) Granstaff and brother-in-law, Wallace (Nancy) Robertson. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, at Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Diffenderfer officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and Noon till service time on Sunday. Pallbearers include Jonathan and Jacob Harrison, Jeff and Steve Cantrell, Greg Harrison, Paul Stovall. Interment with Military Honors at Hillview Cemetery in Alexandria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Watertown High School Brick Scholarship Fund.
