Jorge Hernandez Barajas, age 60 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at his residence. He was a construction worker and of the Catholic faith.
He was born on April 23, 1964 in Mexico.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 until the service time at 4:00.
Survivors include 3 sons; Clem (Andrew) Barajas, Lee Roy Barajas and Jorge Rito Barajas all of Smithville, 1brother; Evaristo Barajas of Mexico and sister; Maria L. (Sandro) Aguirre of Smithville.

Danny Lee Clayton

Danny Lee Clayton age, 71, of the Gassaway Community, passed away at his residence Sunday September 29, 2024. He was born May 8, 1953, to his parents the late James Eli and Connie Lee Clayton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Verner Clayton. Mr. Clayton served in the United States Navy from 1973 till 1981, he owned a Janitorial Service for Avco, and he was a member of the Center Hill Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Ann Clayton of Gassaway; children, Rusty Clayton, Melissa Clayton, Dallas Clayton, Jennifer Clayton Paige, Andrea LeeLeigh Clayton, and Amy Jo Clayton Rod; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. The family has honored Mr. Clayton’s request to be cremated, and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Clayton family.

Mrs. Donna Jean Ward age 83 of Smithville, TN passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024 at her home.
Mrs. Ward was born on April 19, 1941 in Cabin Creek, West Virginia to her parents, the late George & Kate Duncan Chaney. Also preceding in death is a sister, Janet Mounts & a brother-in-law, Don Mounts. She was a Homemaker & was a member of the Temple Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024 at 3:00pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Gene Adkins will officiate & burial will follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, from 11am until the time of the services at 3pm.
Survivors include her Husband of 66 years, George Ward of Smithville, TN. 3 Sons, George C. (Tammy) Ward of Lebanon, TN, Gregory Lee Ward of Liberty, TN & David Ward (Sherrie Bates) of Smithville, TN. Grandchildren, George Ryan Ward, Zach T. Ward, Jessica Cassillas, Evan Ward & Mikayla McDaniel. 10 Great Grandchildren. 2 Sisters, Carol Chaney of Shelbyville, TN & Nancy (Willis) Jobe of Murfreesboro, TN. James Edward “Moe” Pennington

James Edward “Moe” Pennington, age 64, of the Belk Community, passed away Sunday morning, October 6, 2024 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville after an extended illness.
He was employed at AO Smith until the business closed. James was of the Baptist faith and Lieutenant with DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department, where he also served as the training officer for many years.
James was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on December 28, 1959 to parents Leve and Jo Anna Pennington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Claude and Mattie Pennington and Buford and Velma Jaco; and nephew, Christopher Cass.
He is survived by sister, Felicia Woodard; nephews, raised as sons, Daniel Summers and Joshua (Jennifer) Summers; great-nephews and great-niece(grandchildren), Payton Summers, Anthony James Summers, Wyatt Summers, Adison Summers.
Funeral services will be 2:PM Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Martin Bell and Bobby Pennington officiating and burial will follow in New Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM.

Martha Elizabeth Fisher

Ms. Martha Elizabeth Fisher, lovingly known as Sissie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at the age of 81 in Oak Ridge, TN.
Martha was born in Putnam County, TN to Thirsten and Mona Lee Bates Maynard. She retired from Oster in 2005 after 43 years of service. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings George, Fred, Charles, and LT Maynard; sisters Ella Cox and Lovida Smith; and grandson Christian Maynard.
Martha is survived by her son Jeff Maynard (Courtney), grandson Logan, granddaughter Mary Elizabeth, and great grandson Graham.
A receiving of friends will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 5-7pm at Love – Cantrell Funeral Home in Smithville, TN. A graveside service and burial will take place at Smellage Cemetery in Boma, TN on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 11am.
The family would like to thank NHC Oak Ridge for their loving care of Martha over the last few years.

Rosea Nell Young, age 58 of Smithville, passed away October 5, 2024 at NHC in Smithville. She attended Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church.
She was born on June 26, 1966 in Smithville. She was preceded in death by her father; Ray Harvey Hale and brother; Hoyte Hale.
Visitation with the Young family will be on Monday from 10:00 am until service time at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Bill Robertson and Bro. Scott Pack will officiate and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include her daughter, Tia (Brandon) Puckett of Smithville; 2 grandchildren, Jackson and Maverick Puckett of Smithville; mother, Margaret Hale of Temperance Hall; 3 nephews, Zackary (Destin) Hale of MS, and Devin Caldwell Hale of Murfreesboro, Quentin (Myrie) Hale of Smithville; special family, Wesley (Melissa) Young, and Wyatt and Lanie Young all of Baxter; sister-in-law, Lesa Hale of Smithville; several aunts and uncles also survive.
