Jackie Trapp age 70, passed away Tuesday September 20, 2022 at Viviant Healthcare of Shelbyville. He was born September 5, 1952 to his parents, Clarence and Mildred Wright Trapp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Jarvis Trapp; grandparents, Jackson and Avo Trapp and Eston and Drussi Wright; uncles, Clyde Trapp and Cless Trapp. Mr. Trapp was affiliated with Bethel Baptist Church, he served in the Army National Guard, and was the Owner of Trapp’s Produce. He is survived by daughter, Michelle Cantrell (Paul Cantrell) of Smithville; son, Tony (Amanda) Trapp of Smithville; grandchildren, Brittany Wilkerson (Brennan Downey) of Knoxville, Anthony Gage Trapp, Kylee Cantrell, Holden Trapp, and Bryson Trapp; sister, Judy Agee of Smithville; brothers, Jerry Trapp of Dibrell, Jimmy Trapp of Dibrell, Johnny Trapp of Smithville, Joe Trapp of Pleasant Shade; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive; the mother of his children, Vicky Bogle. The family has honored Mr. Trapp’s request to be cremated. A Memorial Service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Craig Carpenter

Mr. Craig R. Carpenter passed away peacefully, Sunday morning, September 18, 2022, after a brief stay at NHC Healthcare of Smithville.
Craig lived in many different places and had so many different types of life experiences that it is impossible in just a few words to tell. He was born in Amarillo Texas. Later his family moved to Dallas Texas where, with his brothers and sisters, enjoyed country living including horses and outdoor activities. Then, his family moved to Ft Lauderdale Florida where life was so different, with beaches, boating and surfing; then as an adult he moved to the country outside of Liberty Tennessee where he enjoyed gardening and being a cattleman; then eventually moving to Smithville Tennessee. Craigs lifetime occupations were Real-estate and as an Ultrasound Technician.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Carpenter and mother, Mary “Janie” Carpenter and a half-brother, Johnny Lee Carpenter. He is survived by: step-mother, Karen Kay Carpenter of Smithville (previous owner of Sundance Restaurant); sisters, Melody Carpenter-Jaquinta of Liberty, Karon (Lisa) Noon of Florida; brother, Michael (Mary Anne) Carpenter of Liberty; half sisters: Sharon Carpenter of Missouri and Shauna (Bill) Green of Georgia; half-brothers: James (Julie) Biggerstaff of Arkansas, John Rex Phillips of Texas and Kirk Carpenter of Virginia; nephews, Michael (Dedra) Carpenter, Matthew (Alex) Carpenter, Logan Carpenter; niece, Micah Carpenter and a great niece Molly Carpenter of Smithville.
Craig was truly a renaissance man who, over the years, proved his broad knowledge and skills in so many ways. Some of his hobbies and interests over the years were: Flying, Surfing, Boating, Motocross Racing, IDPA Pistol and Rifle Marksmanship, Wado-ryu Karate, Flint-knapping, Cattleman, Making Indian Jewelry and Woodturning.
As a boy Craig attended church with his family at North Lake Baptist Church of Dallas where he pronounced his faith in Christ and was baptized. He attended church in Smithville sporadically with his brother and sister. He was also a Mason at the Liberty Lodge.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11am at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, 100 East Church St. Smithville, TN. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, October 7, 2022 from 9am until the time of the services at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lighthouse Christian Camp or to the DeKalb Animal Coalition in memory of Craig.

Pamela Sue Cook Young age 63 of Smithville passed away at her residence on Sunday September18, 2022. She was born December13, 1958 to her parents the late Roy Evins and Hazel Barrett Cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Paul Young; paternal grandparents, Yank Evins and Lottie Cook; maternal grandparents, Joe and Clemmie Barrett; brothers, Carl Thomas “Puggy” Cook and Ronnie Cook. Ms. Young was a member of Whorton Springs Baptist Church. She was a CNA and worked as a Caregiver. She is survived by sisters, Dorothy George Wooden of Alexandria, and Lisa Rhody of Smithville; brother, Joe (Brenda) Cook of Watertown; niece, Whitley (Dale) Stauffacher and their children, Sydney, Silas, Sawyer Pardo, Dylan, Rowan, and Asa Stauffacher of McMinnville; several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews also survive; special friend, Kathy Adcock (Steve) Merz. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 2:00 PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and burial to follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday September 21, 2022 at 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 2:00 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

ROBBIE DEAN WHEELER CALLIS – Age 78 of Lebanon passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at her residence. She was preceded in death by parents, Edwin and Evelyn Wheeler of Smithville; husband of over 40 years, Jerry Baxter Callis; daughter, Karen “Sissy” Eldridge; sisters, Bobbie Pedigo Woods, Helen Rose Keith, Christine Matthews; brother, Eudean Wheeler; infant brother and sister; grandson, Joshua Mack Eldridge; and granddaughter, Jennifer Smotherman. She is survived by children, John “Bubba” (Karen) Hale, Rita “Tinky” (Frankie) Vaughn, Brenda Hale Eldridge, Leslie Williams, John Callis, Jerry Wayne (Dana) Callis, and Randell (Laura) Brady; sisters, Marlene Goodwin, Judy Wheeler Lattimore Johnson, and Wanda Sue Wilkerson; 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, & 1 great great grandchild; caregivers, Debbie Pedigo Hawkes and Janice Pedigo Pierce; special son-in-law, Aaron Massingille; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a founding member of Family Baptist Church and loved the Lord. She was born in Smithville, TN and received her GED in 1983. She owned and operated Rabbits Farm in home daycare and was an assisted living facility owner. She also worked at the Garment Factory/ Lebanon Jeans for nearly 20 years and the Waffle House. She loved to travel.
There will be a Celebration of Life service on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Family Baptist Church, 81 Franklin Rd., Lebanon, TN. Dinner on the grounds following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the Shriner’s Hospital or Disabled American Veterans.

Ronald B. Hill age 87, passed away at his residence Wednesday September 14, 2022. He was born September 3, 1935 to his parents, Marcus and Robbie Hobbs Hill, SR. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Hill; sisters, Louise Bjerke, Mary Van Horn, Anita Thomas, Sadie Russell, Ruby Wiley; brothers, Marcus Hill, Jr., Bennie Stewart, Joe Hill. Mr. Hill attended Outreach Baptist Church and worked as a Saw Operator in Lumber Mill. He is survived by wife of 32 years, Sue Hill of Smithville; sons, Avery (Donna) Hill and Jeffery (Lisa) Hill both of McMinnville; step-daughter, Tammy Brown of Smithville; step-sons, Tracy (Tammy) Ferrell of Rock Island, and Jason (Racheal) Ferrell of Smithville; 3 step-grandsons, Derrick Tramel and Bradley Brown both of Smithville, and Taylor (Brittany) Ferrell of Gainesboro; 1 step great-granddaughter, Lilly Tramel of Celina; sister, Barbara Bloodworth of Beersheba; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday September 17, 2022 at 11:00AM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jeffery Hill and Bro. Nathan Thomason officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday September 16, 2022 4:00PM until 7:00PM and on Saturday September 17, 2022 9:00AM until the time of the service at 11:00AM. The family would like to say a special “Thank You,” to Alive Hospice, Megan and Dr. Dingle and her staff for the care that was shown to Mr. Hill. Emma Ruth Killian Hill Jackson

Emma Ruth Killian Hill Jackson affectionately known to so many as “Mama Ruth” was born on July 24, 1939 in Grundy County and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday night, September 14, 2022 at the age of 83. She was the eldest child of the late Willie and Emma Lee Hobbs Killian. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 18 years, Bro. J.H. Jackson; daughter, Tammy L. Hill; sister, Melba Jean Killian; brother, Wayne Killian; grandparents, Virgil and Octa Hobbs and Henry and Savanah. Mama Ruth worked with UCHRA for many years and was a homemaker. She and her late husband, Bro. J.H. Jackson pastored and ministered together until his passing. Everyone that knew her, knew of her love for playing the piano and singing for the Lord. The shouting of Mama Ruth has only just begun. She leaves to cherish her memory, 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Avery (Donna) Hill and Jeff (Lisa) Hill; 1 grandson, Cody; 2 granddaughters, Stacie Sellars and Melissa (Paul) Campbell; 2 sisters, Donna (Bobby Joe) Thompson and Lois Killian; sister-in-law, Elsie Killian; special family, Nancy Perry and Vicki Cummings and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3 PM Sunday, September 18, 2022 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jeff Hill and Bro. Bernard Houk officiating and burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. Visitation will be Saturday 4 PM until 7 PM and Sunday 12 Noon until the time of the service at 3 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
