DCHS Tennis Teams Complete Season in District Tournament

Coach Seth Willoughby’s  DCHS Tennis teams ended their season in the district tournament held April 30 and May 1 at Cookeville High School.

On the girls side Senior Faith Judkins won her first round match, but lost in her second round match to her opponent from Cookeville High School.  Junior Hannah McBride lost in her first round match.  In doubles sophomore Leah Davis and freshman Katie Colwell lost their doubles match as did seniors Shelby Clayborn and Ashlee Thompson.  In boys singles, senior Lance Davis lost in his match to eventual champion Tollhurst from Livingston Academy while junior Justin Washer was upended as well. In boys doubles the team of sophomore Garrett Hayes and junior Levi Driver won both their first and second round matches as did the team of senior Dosson Medlin and junior Eli Cantrell.  However, both teams were eliminated in the quaterfinal round.

The teams would like to thank all the support they received from parents and fans and especially to #1 fan Jordan Atnip of First Baptist Church.  The teams will be celebrating a successful season at their banquet on Tuesday May 14th.




Tigerettes Knock Off Watertown in District Tournament

After losing 8 to 0 to Livingston Academy, the DCHS Tigerettes knocked off Watertown 9 to 6 in the District Softball Tournament Tuesday at Watertown.

The Tigerettes scored 9 runs on 9 hits and made 4 errors. Watertown scored 6 runs on 8 hits and made 4 errors.

DeKalb County scored 3 runs in the 3rd and 4th innings and 3 runs in the 6th inning. Watertown scored 3 runs in the 4th , 2 runs in the 6th, and 1 run in the 7th inning.

Madison Whitehead pitched the Tigerettes to victory. She gave up 6 runs on 8 hits over 7 innings. She struck out 2 and walked 3.

Kenzie France had 2 hits and 2 RBI in the game including a homerun in the 3rd inning. Megan Walker and Joni Robinson each had 2 hits and an RBI. Emme Colwell with 1 hit and 2 RBI. Madison Whitehead 1 hit and 1 RBI and Kennedy Polk with a hit.




Tigerettes Shutout by LA in District Tournament

The DCHS Tigerettes lost to Livingston Academy 8 to 0 at Watertown in the District Softball Tournament Tuesday.

The Tigerettes were held scoreless on 1 hit and made 6 errors. The Lady Wildcats scored 8 runs on 9 hits and made 2 errors.

Livingston Academy scored 1 run in the 1st inning, 4 runs in the 2nd and 3 runs in the 6th inning.

Emme Colwell, the losing pitcher, gave up 8 runs on 9 hits through 6 innings. She struck out 4 and walked 1.

Jacey Hatfield doubled for the Tigerettes in the 7th inning.




Tigers Stay Alive in District Baseball Tournament

The DCHS Tigers claimed a 7 to 1 victory over York Institute in the District Baseball Tournament at Carthage Monday.

DeKalb County scored 3 runs in the 1st inning, 3 runs in the 2nd inning, and 1 run in the 5th inning. The Dragons scored 1 run in the 4th inning.




Tigerettes Win District Tournament Opener

Emme Colwell pitched a shutout in leading the DCHS Tigerettes to a 2 to 0 District Tournament win over Cannon County in Smithville Friday evening.

Colwell gave up 4 hits and struck out 8 through 7 innings.

The Tigerettes scored 2 runs on 5 hits and made 3 errors. Cannon County was held scoreless on 4 hits and made an error. DC scored a run in the 1st and 4th innings.

The Tigerettes got on the board early as Kenzie France singled scoring one run.

Megan Walker led DeKalb County in hitting with two hits in three at bats. Braya Murphy had a hit and an RBI and Joni Robinson had a hit.
