Lady Saints Soccer Team Sports 4-1 Conference Record

The Lady Saints soccer team is off to a great start as they support a 4-1 conference record.

After beating Watertown in the Pre-season, the Lady Saints traveled to Prescott South Middle School to take on the Bulldogs on August 21st and escape with a 2-1 victory. Behind a goal from Raven Savage and Micah Bogle along with some strong defense, the Lady Saints begin conference play 1-0.

Goals: Raven Savage, Micah Bogle

On August 23rd, the visiting Upperman Yellow Jackets come to town. The Lady Saints offense came to play as the home team wins this one, 5-0.

Assists: Raven Savage, Melody Beltran

After a great conference start, the Lady Saints run into a roadblock on August 28th at Cumberland Co. The Lady Saints struggle to score as they lose this match 5-0.

The Lady Saints looked to bounce back as rival Avery Trace came to town on August 30th. The Lady Saints do just that behind a hat trick by Caroline Tobitt with a 6-1 victory.

The Lady Saints keep rolling on August 31st against visiting Fentress County. Behind goalkeeper Kelbi Young and defenders Jacklyn Kleparek and Darrah Ramsey, the Lady Saints get another victory 7-0.

Goals: Raven Savage (3), Caroline Tobitt (2), Jacklyn Kleparek, Micah Bogle

Assists: Kendall Davis (2), Jacklyn Kleparek, Micah Bogle

The second half of the Lady Saints’ season continues on Friday, September 7th at Macon Co where DMS looks to further improve their conference record.




Panthers Shutout Tigers 35-0

The DeKalb County Tigers lost to the Stone Memorial Panthers Friday night at Crossville 35-0.

After starting the season two weeks ago with a 19 to 14 win at home over Warren County, the Tigers have failed to find the endzone since losing to Upperman 43-0 last week at home and now to Stone Memorial 35-0.

The Tigers will host Watertown next Friday night, September 7 in Smithville. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.

Watertown is 3-0 with wins at Gordonsville 48-8, at home against Mount Juliet Christian 61-7, and at Trousdale County 22-21.

Stone Memorial’s Thomas Arnold was in on all of the Panthers’ touchdowns in the first half against the Tigers Friday night, scoring on runs of 20, 22, 1, and 2 yards and he threw a 25 yard touchdown pass to Jesus Murillo. Jaiden Sadowski connected on all five extra point attempts to give the panthers the 35-0 victory.

Arnold’s first touchdown came with 3:46 left in the 1st period on a 20 yard run and with the extra point the Panthers led 7-0.

Arnold found the endzone again on a 22 yard touchdown run with 1:11 left in the 1st period. After the PAT the Panthers led 14-0

Jesus Murillo scored on a 25 yard touchdown pass from Arnold with six seconds left in the 1st period. The extra point put the Panthers up 21-0.

Arnold scored on a 1 yard touchdown run with 3:20 left in the 2nd period and after the extra point Stone Memorial led 28-0.

Arnold scored his final touchdown of the game on a 2 yard run with 14 seconds left in the 2nd period. Sadowski connected on the extra point and the Panthers won 35-0.







Tigers Win Border Battle With Warren County (VIEW VIDEOS HERE)

The DeKalb County Tigers won their season opener Friday night knocking off the visiting Warren County Pioneers 19 to 14.

After a scoreless 1st period, the Tigers got on the scoreboard with 8:25 left in the 2nd quarter as Andrew Fuson caught a pass from Quarterback Axel Aldino covering 46 yards for a touchdown. Fuson added the extra point to give DeKalb County a 7-0 lead.

Warren County answered on a long touchdown run by Eric Haywood with 7:28 left left in the 2nd period. The PAT by Isaac Beasley was good and the game was tied at 7.

The Tigers broke the tie with 4:58 left in the half on a 19 yard touchdown run by David Bradford. The PAT attempt was no good but DeKalb County led 13-7.

DeKalb County failed to connect on a field goal try with seconds to go before the half and the score remained 13-7 in favor of the Tigers.

Neither team scored in the 3rd quarter but Warren County grabbed the lead with 11:21 left in the 4th period after a Tiger turnover. C.J. Taylor scored on a reverse covering 16 yards for a touchdown. The PAT by Beasley was good and the Pioneers led 14 to 13.

DeKalb County’s Zach Day caught a 13 yard touchdown pass from Aldino with 7:18 left in the game. The two point conversion attempt failed but the Tigers went on to win 19-14.

DeKalb County will host the Upperman Bees next Friday night, August 24 in Smithville starting at 7:00 p.m. WJLE plans LIVE coverage.
