Grover Ashley Morris

Grover Ashley Morris age 61, of Smithville passed away at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, March 26, 2022. He was born January 29, 1961 to his parents the late, John Kelly and Rose Anna Bodi Morris. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Ronald Morris and Kelly Barger; brothers-in-law, Jerry Stec, and Robert Musick; sister-in-law, Marie Morris. Mr. Morris was raised as a Jehovah Witness and was a construction worker. He is survived by his children, Joyce Lattimore of Smithville, Grover Morris, Jr. (Tiffany Lattimore) of Smithville, Tiffany Miller of Smithville, John “Little J” (Ashley) Morris of Baxter, Toni Lloyd of Smithville, Jessica Lloyd-Ricketts (Ronald Estes) of Smithville, Zackary Musick of Smithville, Alannah Musick-Morris of Smithville; grandchildren, Jammy Bruce, Emily Lattimore, Alora Morris, Damian and Ayden James Morris, Annabelle Miller, Emily Miller, Killian Miller, Kalena Morris, Makayla Turner, Kahlanna Turner, Cloey Ervin, Ezraya Gingerich, Aiden Ricketts, Lynox Ricketts, Spencer Ricketts, Emberly Musick-Morris, Riversyn Musick-Morris; wife, Celina Musick-Morris of Smithville; sisters, Rose (Richard) Roller of Smithville, Mary Stec of Toledo, Ohio; brother, John Kelly Morris, Jr. of Smithville. Visitation will be Wednesday March 30, 2022 10:00AM until 1:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Jesse Kenneth VanDyne Sr.

March 28, 2022

Jesse Kenneth VanDyne, Sr. age 80 passed away Saturday March 26, 2022 at his residence. He was preceded in death by Daughter: Penny VanDyne; Son: Jesse VanDyne, Jr. Funeral Services will be held 2 PM Tuesday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Teresa Wright officiating. Visitation with the family will be Monday 3 PM until 7 PM and Tuesday 11:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. Survivors include his wife Sharon VanDyne of Smithville; Children: Christine (Frank) Elliott, Todd VanDyne, Danny (Susan) VanDyne all of Smithville, Stephen VanDyne and Timothy VanDyne both of Florida; Several Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild also survive. Thomas “Tom” Dwight Vickers

March 28, 2022

Thomas “Tom” Dwight Vickers age 50 of Smithville, Tennessee, died Sunday, March 27, 2022, at his home surrounded by family and friends from cancer. He had undergone a liver transplant in November 2020. Tom graduated from DeKalb County High School and attended Vol State College. Also, he had attended many conferences on marketing. He was employed by Buffalo Valley as a marketer.

Tom accepted Christ at the age of 12 and united with the Prosperity Baptist Church, where his membership remained. However, in later years he began attending Indian Creek Memorial Baptist Church, where he loved to help in Vacation Bible School by providing and helping the children make t-shirts. Just last Christmas he served as a Wise Man in the Christmas program.

Tom will be remembered for his love for life and people. He never saw a stranger. He had an abundant amount of energy and had to be doing something all the time. He enjoyed food, golfing, hunting, and pulling jokes on people. He was a good business person and was always looking for a good deal. He loved his trucks. Tom took his past and turned it around to helping people clean up their lives by operating half-way houses for over ten years. He visited schools and discussed how drugs can harm one and served on the Drug Court Committee. He also loved to cast his vote.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dwight Vickers, and his father’s twin brother, Dwayne Vickers; his paternal grandparents, Houston and Trudie Young Vickers; his maternal grandparents, Tom and Johnnie Fugitt; and his great aunt and uncle, William and Dorothy Truitt. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Goodwin Vickers of Smithville; mother, Melissa Fugitt Garrison of Lebanon; children Abigail Vickers of Nashville; Koby Bullard of Smithville; Keeli Bullard Stickler and husband Troy, of Smithville; grandchildren, Sebastin Bullard of Smithville; Tucker Stickler and Carson Stickler of Smithville; sisters: Tiffany Lay and husband, Jim of Alexandria, Merideth Vickers of Hermitage, mother-in-law, Jean Goodwin, of Smithville, sisters-in-law, Teresa Scott and husband, Ricky of Liberty, Tammy Cantrell and husband, Donald of Smithville, Janis Bean and husband, Barry, of Smithville, and Tina Jones of Smithville; special friends Meshia and Jayson Johnson of Smithville; several cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 11:AM Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dan Stirnemann and Dr. Jeffrey Stirnemann officiating and Interment will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens, Smithville, Tennessee.

Visitation with the Family will be on Monday, March 28, 2022, 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Tuesday, March 29, 2022, 9:00 a.m. until time for service at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.

Memorial donations may be made to Vanderbilt Transplant, DeKalb Animal Shelter, or the charity of choice, in memory of Tom. Donations can be made at the funeral home.

The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home.

Kathleen (Webb) Wall

March 27, 2022

Kathleen Wall age 91 of Smithville, passed away Saturday March 26, 2022 at the Webb House Retirement Home in Smithville. She was born February 7, 1931 to her parents, the late Clarence and Winnie Judkins Webb. She was a retired shirt factory worker, homemaker and a member of the Keltonburg United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Claxteen Thwaitt Wall; Sisters: JoAnn Sandlin, Doris Webb; Brothers-in-law: Lester Franks, J.E. Sandlin. Funeral Services for Ms. Kathleen will be held 11:AM Saturday April 2, 2022 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Saturday 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. Survivors include son: Danny (Carolyn) Wall of Mt. Juliet; Grandchildren: Brandon (Amanda) Wall of Hendersonville; Amanda Wall & Fiancé, Alex Houser, Courtney Wall all of Mt. Juliet; Great-Grandchild: Baylor Wall; Sister: Era Franks of Manchester. Jessica Hope Elkins age 33 of Walling, Tn passed away Sunday March 20, 2022. She was born August 6, 1988 to her parents, Billy & Karen Murphy. She worked in Fast Food Restaurants. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Wilma Sanders, Charlie & Betty Murphy. Graveside services will be held 2 PM Friday at Philadelphia Cemetery in Walling, TN. No visitation will be held at the funeral home. Friends and family will meet at the cemetery. Survivors include her parents: Billy & Karen Murphy of Doyle, Tn.; Children: Keyosha, Kamora, Lamar, Jr., Reedus; Siblings: Veronica (David) Jauregui of Sparta, Kayla (Matthew) Collins of Arkansas, Shelby (Sherman) Murphy of Florida, Shania (Tyler) Miller of Quebec, Dallas Murphy of Spencer; Maternal Grandfather: Lincoln Spencer. Randy David Bain

Randy David Bain age 68 of Smithville passed away Tuesday March 22, 2022 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital in Smithville. He was born August 5, 1953 to his parents, the late Creston Bain and Joyce Ervin Maynard. Randy was an Electrical Wiring Technician and affiliated with the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Paulette Bain; Half-brother: Brent Bain; Infant siblings: Kenny, Pam and Jeff Bain; Father and mother-in-law: James & Eunice Stanley. Funeral services will be held 11:AM Saturday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Friday 3:PM until 7:PM and Saturday 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM.
