Wilma Jean “Ma” Cantrell

Wilma Jean “Ma” Cantrell age 76, passed away Thursday morning March 14, 2024, at NHC Healthcare in Smithville.  She was born July 28, 1947, to her parents, the late Willie Allen and Martha Myrie Hale Atnip, Jr.  Wilma retired from NHC Healthcare in Smithville and was a member of Temple Missionary Baptist church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Prentice Cantrell; Sister: Darlene Stanley.  Funeral Services will be held 2:PM Sunday March 17, 2024, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. B. J. Thomason officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Saturday 2:PM until 7:PM and Sunday 10:AM until the time of service at 2:pm.  Survivors include her children: Anthony (Penny) Cantrell, Angela (Bobby) Johnson, Shannon (Tonya) Cantrell all of Smithville; Grandchildren: Jacob Cantrell, Elicia Cantrell, Ian Johnson (Alexis), Kaylee (Kyle) Allen, Isabella Johnson, Garrett (MaKayla) Johnson, Levi Cantrell, Stephen (Vickey) Barrett, Bradley (Katie) Barrett; Great-Grandchildren: Jordan Cantrell, Wyatt Carter Frazier, Waylon Johnson, Sydney Barrett, Blakelee Allen; Sisters: Janice (Bobby) Moore of Smithville, Janie (P.I.) Hale of Liberty, Darnell (Wayne) Crook of Smithville; Brother: Jimmy (Jenny) Atnip of Baxter: Sister-in-Law: Hilda (Floyd) Corley of Tullahoma, Gladys Cantrell of Smithville, Joan Harrelson of Lebanon, Nell Cantrell of McMinnville; Brother-in-law: McClure Cantrell of Smithville; Host of nieces and nephews also survive.  In addition to flowers donations can be made to Temple Missionary Baptist Church in memory of Ma Wilma.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Cantrell family.




Marvin F. Mosley

March 12, 2024

Marvin F. Mosley age 80, of Smithville, passed away Monday March 11, 2024, at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. He was born February 4, 1944, to his parents the late Marvin B. and Charlie Lois Rigdon Mosley, SR. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Jimmy, Bobby, Rita, Ruth, Phillip, Jeff, Mattie Mae; nieces: Charlene and Dixie. Mr. Mosley was a member of Covenant Baptist Church, a member of the Elk Lodge, a Mason, served in the United States Army and worked for Jones Brothers Construction. He is survived by wife, Linda Mosley of Smithville; children: Marvin “Buzz” (Starla) Mosley of Smithville and Corky (Michelle) Mosley of Smithville; grandchildren: Kristal Hope (Brian) Jones, Marvin Keith (Megan) Mosley, Mickael Mosley, Allison Mosley and fiance’ (Bradley Pack); 12 great-grandchildren; brother: Grady Mosley; sisters-in-law: Betty Pittman, Nancy Jones, Barbara King; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Thursday March 14, 2024, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Ron Savage, Kristal Mosley and Bro. Bobby Dale Thomason officiating with burial to follow in DeKalb Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held Thursday 11:00AM until the time of the service at 2:00PM. Sheila Kay Rouse

March 11, 2024

67-year-old  Sheila Kay Rouse of Alexandria died Friday at Saint Thomas West. She was a waitress and a member of the New Vision Baptist Church. Rouse was born in New Castle, Indiana. A memorial service will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Russell Vickers will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 until 3 p.m. in the chapel. She was preceded in death by her father, Chester Owen Wilson; sisters, Tammy Evenson, Karen Wilson Ory; Aunt Luci McDonald; uncle Sam Smith; and nephew Josh Owens. Survivors include her mother, Helen Wilson; daughter, Bridgette (Jason) Rogers; grandchildren, Zowie Tillery (Keith Buck), and Kyle Satcher; brothers, Chuck Wilson and Don Wilson; aunt and uncle Judi (Steve) Coleman and Ray Wilson; nieces, Sami (Jeremy) Rice and Brandy Buckley; and cousins, Sherri and Kerri Owens. Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.




Toney Lynn Lamberson

Mr. Toney Lynn Lamberson age 77, of the Temperance Hall Community of DeKalb Co. passed away Friday March 8, 2024.

Mr. Lamberson was born on September 14, 1946 in DeKalb Co., TN, a son of the late Toney Smith Lamberson and Hazel Louise Cripps Lamberson. He was married to Linda Ruth Mullican on April 5, 1976.

He worked in construction, at the shirt factory, cabinet shop and was a farmer. He was a member of the Temperance Hall Pentecostal Church.

Mr. Lamberson is survived by his wife: Mrs. Linda Lamberson of Temperance Hall, TN; sister-in-law: Gail Mullican; niece, Lisa Mullican Barrett: nephew, Paul (Kalee) Mullican; great nephew, Adrian Barrett, and several other nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lamberson is at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes where funeral services will be conducted on Monday March 11, 2024 at 2 PM with Bro Chris McMillen officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordonsville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 11 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m.

Raymond Haskel Dyer Sr.

March 9, 2024

Mr. Raymond Haskel Dyer Sr., age 71 of McMinnville, passed away Thursday evening at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville. He was retired from the Metro Government where is worked at Harper Hills Golf Course.

He was born on February 8, 1953 in Gainesboro, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Haskel and Flossie Dyer, wife, Judy Dyer, 5 sisters, Gladys and Ella Chaffin, Altie Knowles, Linda Brown and Stella Clemmons, 5 brothers, William, Hubert, Godan, Franklin and Earl Dyer.

The family has chosen direct cremation. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 14 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm.

Survivors include one son, Raymond Dyer Jr., close family member, Neel Mirpuri of FL, Sister, Reba Turner of Cookeville, 1 sister-in-law, Carolyn Dyer of Smithville, 1 bro-in-law, Gerald Knowles of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations please be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with expenses.

Linda Cantrell

March 8, 2024

Linda Cantrell age 76 of Smithville, passed away Thursday March 7, 2024, at St. Thomas Riverpark in McMinnville. She was born April 13, 1947, to her parents, the late Clarence and Carrie Arnold Graham. Ms. Linda was a member of New Union the Baptist Church and a retired factory worker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Billy Cantrell; Son: Bobby Cantrell; Grandson: Ethan Cantrell; Brother: Garey Graham; Sister: Carolyn Arvisais. Funeral services will be held 4 PM Sunday March 10, 2024, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in New Union Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday 4 PM until 7 PM and Sunday 12 NOON until the time of service at 4 PM. Survivors include Children: Donna & Phillip Summerford of Arthur, IL., Darryl & Rachel Cantrell of Smithville; Grandchildren: Hope Frazier, Hailey Stotts, Hannah Collins, Mari Cantrell.
