81 year old Charles W. Clayborn of Alexandria died Sunday at his residence. He was retired from AVCO and was a member and Deacon at Helton Creek The Baptist Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Gary Glover and Leonard Herman will officiate with a eulogy by his grandson Thomas. Burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. He was preceded in death by his parents. Ed Clayborn and Loretta Parkerson and a son, Charles Barry Clayborn. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Hale Clayborn of Alexandria. Children, Connie and husband Johnny Florida of Alexandria, Eddie and wife Jamie Clayborn of Brush Creek, and Tommy and wife Maria Clayborn of Cottage Home. Grandchildren, Jennifer Florida, James and wife Heidi Clayborn, Stefanie and husband Cyrus Shores, Heather Janecke, Thomas Clayborn, and Eric Clayborn. Great grandchildren, Dallas Shores, Jax Shores, Jordyn Janecke, Axle Janecke, Isabella Clayborn, and Hunter Weilacher; Sister, Joyce Boyd; Brother Mike and his wife Jan Clayborn; Daughter-in-law, Michelle Clayborn; and Sister-in-law, Willette Hale. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins survive. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude, the American Heart Association, or the American Lung Association in his name.

Mr. Edwin Dale Evans age 63, of Barnesville, GA and formally of Smithville, died Saturday August 21, 2021 from cardiac arrest. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Era Evans and brothers, Frank A. “Chuck”, Roy, Kenneth and Brown Evans. He worked in tool & die and was a Baptist. He is survived by sister, Joyce Norred of Woodstock, GA; brothers, Dennis Evans of Sugar Hill, GA, Earl Evans, Jr. and Theresa of Barnesville, GA; sisters-in-law, Faye Evans, Juanita Evans and Janice Evans; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 27, 2021 4 PM to 7 PM and Saturday 9:AM until the time service at 11:AM. Funeral service will be held 11:AM Saturday, August 28, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and interment will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Barry Cook age 68 of Alexandria, passed away Saturday afternoon, August 21, 2021 at River Park Hospital in McMinnville. He was born April 3, 1953 to his parents, Jean Akin Cook and the late Buddy Cook. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pam Baker Cook. Barry was a member of the Upper Helton Baptist Church, retired from Federal Mogul, was currently working at Manheim and a farmer. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Teresa Cook of Alexandria; 5 children, Amanda Ruth Loring (Michael Weaver) of Washington, Troy (Julie) Cook of Dowelltown, Morgan Thaxton-Bain (Taylor) of McMinnville, Eddie Parrish (Kiersten Shuster) and Jacob Parrish both of Cookeville; 4 grandchildren, Dallas Cook, Alley-Beth Cook, Drew Cook and Kennedy Shuster; mother, Jean Cook of Alexandria; sister, Cynthia (Butch) Agee of Liberty; 2 nephews, Josh (January) Agee and Joey (Casey) Agee; 6 great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3:PM Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Jimmy Arms and Bryan Jones officiating and burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday 4:PM until 8:PM and Tuesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 3:PM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Upper Helton Baptist Church Building Fund or Salem Cemetery Fund, in memory of Barry. Mrs. Breanna Rippetoe McClure, age 37, of McMinnville passed away on Wednesday at River Park Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Christine Bates.
She is survived by her husband- Brandon McClure, Mother- Christie Rippetoe both of McMinnville, Sister- Chrissa Bates of Mt. Juliet, Special cousin- Crystal Hale of Smithville, Sisters-In-Law- Monica Cope, Elizabeth Childress, Kacie Pease & Misty Newby, Bro-In-Law- Kevin McClure and Mother-In-Law- Donna Pease all of McMinnville.
The family has chosen to have a private service for select family and friends.

Mr. Roger Herman Chapman, age 60, of Smithville passed away Friday at his residence. He was a Christian, avid hunter & worked at DeKalb County Co-Op.
He was preceded in death by his parents- Willie Herman & Doris Ervin Chapman, nephew- Michael Murphy & Parents-In-Law- Solon & Josephine Barnes.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years- Leeta Barnes Chapman of Smithville, Daughter- Christie & Rick Allen of Gainesboro, 2 Step grandchildren- MaKayla Allen of Knoxville and Hadyn Allen of Gainesboro, 1 Sister- Drenda Murphy & Basil Foutch of Smithville.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 8 and on Monday from 9 to service time at 11. Burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Bro. Leonard Herman will be holding the service.
In addition to flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Shirley Faye Prater Hayes age 70, of Murfreesboro and a long-time resident of Dowelltown, passed away Friday morning August 20, 2021 at her residence. She was born November 26, 1950 to her parents the late Benjamin and Virginia Lucille Thomas Prater. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby “Blue” Hayes; son, Joel Hayes; sister Janella Prater and brother Greg Prater. Ms. Hayes was a member of Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church and worked as Payroll Administrator at Federal Mogul. She is survived by daughter, Lora (Tony) Hortert of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Christian Hortert (Leslie King), Garrett Hortert and Rachel Hortert; sister Marcia (Bobby) Mayo of Woodbury; sister-in-law, Barbara Harris of Macon, GA. Funeral services will be held 4 PM Sunday August 22, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bryan Jones officiating and burial to follow in Prosperity Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 4 PM till 7 PM and Sunday 1 PM until the time of the service at 4 PM. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home.
