Jerry Bruce Judkins age 79, of Smithville passed away Friday June 26, 2020 at his residence. He was born July 1, 1940 to his parents the late James Bruce and Paloma Beasley Judkins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sons, Glenn Crook and Gary Crook; brothers, Steve Judkins and Jim Judkins; grandson, David Crook. Mr. Judkins worked as an Nurseryman and was a member of The Old Fashion Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Judkins is survived by his wife, Nettie Lou Certain Judkins of Smithville; children, Renee Judkins, Marie Therse Judkins, Jerry B. (Mimi) Judkins all of Michigan, Eric (Denna) Judkins of Smithville, Brenda (Frank) Bratcher of Carthage, and Bro. Billy (Ofelia) Crook of Smithville. Visitation will be Monday June 29, 2020 at 10:A.M. until 2:P.M. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday June 29, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bryan Bratcher and Bro. Billy Crook officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Due to the COVID-19, the Governors Executive Order 38 and Social Distancing Guidelines; Our pews in the Chapel are marked off to respect the guidelines and allow approximately 100-125 people for the service, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise Social Distancing. Martha Notie Lou Winfrey

Martha Notie Lou Winfrey, age 89, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Mrs. Winfrey was born Friday, March 20, 1931 in Temperance Hall, Tennessee and is preceded in death by her parents, Priest Debit Rutland and Layuna Stokes Rutland; sons, Charles Shaw and David Shaw.
Mrs. Winfrey retired from Vanderbilt University as a clerical associate after 25 years of service. She enjoyed knitting, flower and vegetable gardening, cooking and baby sitting.
Survived to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sandra Chumney, Martha McKinney, Donna Winfrey; son, Danny (Roxanne) Bass; 17 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 1:00 Monday, June 29, 2020 in Dowell Cemetery on Avant Road in Alexandria, Tennessee.
Family and friends will gather to remember Mrs. Winfrey at a visitation Sunday, June 28, 2020 from 5:00 until 7:00 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home 1150 South Dickerson Pike Goodlettsville, Tennessee.
Paul Dean Parsley

Paul Dean Parsley age 92, went home to be with the Lord on Friday June 26, 2020 at NHC in Murfreesboro. He was born September 11, 1927 to his parents, the late John Hood and Velma Pedigo Parsley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Jorene Washer Parsley; his second wife, Mary Robinson Washer Parsley; brother, Warren Parsley; and sister, Emogene Parsley Washer Nicely. He followed in his father’s footsteps working in and managing Parsley Brothers Nursery. He also spent several years working in a factory, setting up machines and making sure everything worked properly. His favorite hobby was wood working, his favorite wood was cherry. He made many pieces of furniture, for his home, his church, his family and others in the community. Mr. Paul was a Christian man and a proud member of Jacobs Pillar United Methodist Church, he was also a member of the Liberty Lodge #77 and a former Worshipful Master. He was a shiner and a member of the Smithville Rotary Club. Mr. Paul is survived by his daughter, Lori Parsley Driver of Smithville; grandson, Eddy Glen (Stephanie) Driver of Murfreesboro; great-granddaughters, Shelby and Saleen Driver; sister, Mary Lou Parsley Wade of Pennsylvania; special grandson, Relley Yott of Smithville; and numerous friends. There will be a visitation for family and close friends Sunday 8:A.M. until 10:A.M. Funeral Services will be 10:A.M. Sunday in the Parlors of DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro, Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow at Whorton Springs Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, the Governors Executive Order 38 and Social Distancing Guidelines; Our Chairs in the Parlors are marked off to respect the guidelines and allow approximately 50 people for the service, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise Social Distancing. John Alsup

Mr. John Alsup age 78 of Dowelltown passed away Thursday June 25, 2020 at his residence. He was born April 28, 1942 to his parents, the late Lillard Jacob, and Mary Carmine Alsup. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Alsup and a brother, Sonny Alsup. Mr. Alsup served in the United States Air Force, he worked as a car dealer and he attended The Old Fashioned Free Will Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Judy Alsup of Dowelltown; sons, John Miller Alsup of Dowelltown and Jacob Lee Alsup of Brentwood; sister, Pam Alsup of Murfreesboro; brother, Jerry Alsup of Murfreesboro. Funeral services will be Sunday June 28, 2020 at 2:00 P.M.at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Mark Miller officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday 4:P.M. until 7:P.M. and on Sunday 10:A.M. until the time of the service at 2:P.M. Richard Lee Franklin

Mr. Richard Lee Franklin, age 62 of Dowelltown passed away at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville.
Richard was born on December 26, 1957 in Carthage, TN to his parents, the late Harry & Reba Bryant Franklin. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Rita Kaye Franklin & a brother, Ronnie Edward Franklin. He worked in Landscaping, was a Minister and had formerly pastored the In Christ United Church. He also served in the United States National Guard.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 12noon from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Keith Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday from 10am until the service time at 12noon. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. We are temporarily not accepting food in our kitchen facilities.
Survivors include 2 Children, Christopher (Jamie) Franklin of Orlando, FL & Stacey Robinson (Jeremy Bilbrey) of Dowelltown. 8 Grand Children, Destiny & Jamison Franklin both of Smithville, Brianna Franklin of Orlando, FL, Keirstine Robinson, Kaden Robinson, Malakai Bilbrey, Kristian Bilbrey & KayDe’Anna Bryant Bilbrey all of Dowelltown. 2 Brothers, Keith Franklin of Smithville & Kenneth (Charlene) Franklin of Wyoming. 1 Sister, Charlene (Gary) Goff of Smithville.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations please be given to the funeral home to help with burial expenses.

Bro. Larry O’Neal Huling

Bro. Larry O’Neal Huling age 81 of McMinnville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday evening June 22, 2020 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. He was born May 2, 1939 to his parents, the late William Ray and Lillian Traylor Huling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Sylvester and Carl Huling and 2 sisters, Margaret Sutterfield and Adel Rogers. Bro. Huling surrendered to the call of ministry in the mid 80’s and was a member of The Bible Church U.P.C. in Manchester. He was a Carpenter and served in the National Guard. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Grace Huling of McMinnville; 3 children, Keith (Barbara) Huling of Smithville, Cynthia Morgan of Smithville and Bryan (Holli) Huling of Loganville, GA; 5 grandchildren, Ryan (Kelly) Huling, Jordan (Meghan) Huling, Hannah Jo Huling, BrandaLynn Huling and Bryson Huling; 3 great-grandchildren, Madeline Nicole Huling, Zachary Grant Huling and Allianna Rose Huling; 1 brother, Abraham (Mary) Huling; sister, Joyce (Ray) Roberts; sisters-in-law, Ruby Huling and Hazel Huling and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 3 PM Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Vernon Waggoner, Keith Huling and Dwayne Cornelius officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 4 PM until 8 PM and Wednesday 12 Noon until the time of the service at 3 PM.
