Glenda Fay Good age 90 of Lascassas and formerly of Smithville, went home to be with the Lord Monday morning, April 20, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro. She was born September 30, 1929 to her parents, the late James Paul and Edna Irene Robbins Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Good, Sr., 2 sisters, Wanda Ryan and Doris Ward, 2 brothers, Carl Jones and Earl Jones. She was a member of the Belle Aire Baptist Church and a homemaker. She leaves to cherish her memory 4 children, Linda (Dave) Clark of Murfreesboro, Gary (Phyllis) Good of Smithville, Carl (Michelle) Good, Jr. of Lascassas and Debbie Shelton Driver (Roger Young) of Smithville; 8 grandchildren, Brianne (Ernest) Smith of Murfreesboro, Debora (Kyle) McLaughlin of Atlanta, Jack (Beth) Good of Lascassas, Abby (Craig) Watson of Smithville, Kristen (Jon) Bloom of Bell Buckle, Kyle Good of Lascassas, Nikki Beckham of Smithville and Jennifer Chapman of Smithville; 14 great-grandchildren, Mallory Smith, Ethan Smith, Lily McLaughlin, Ella McLaughlin, Sophia McLaughlin, Laura Good, Hillis Bloom, Davis Bloom, Kylie Good, Sophie Good, Piper Good, Whitleigh Chapman, Bradey Hughes, Carleigh Beckham; 3 sisters, Norma Evans of Missouri, Ann Isbell of Michigan and Marilyn Hunt of Missouri; 2 brothers, Jim Jones of Michigan and Bill Jones of Florida; 3 special nieces and nephew, Ann Pointer, Pegg McCrary, Jerry McCrary; several nieces and nephews. Due to COVID-19 and the Governor’s Executive Order and CDC distancing guidelines, the family will have a Private Graveside Service on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Haven of Hope or to the charity of your choice in memory of Ms. Glenda. Priscilla Ann Lattimore age 60 of Smithville, passed away Friday night, April 17, 2020 at her residence in Smithville. She was born August 14, 1959 in Smithville. Priscilla Ann was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren and her step-father, Tiny Pedigo. She was affiliated with Outreach Baptist Church and worked many years at NHC HealthCare and lastly at Smithport Cabinetry. She is survived by 5 children, Sabrina Lattimore (Bobby Knox) , Sara (J.W.) Brown, Mark (Kathy) Lattimore and Serena (Sammy) Cardin all of DeKalb County and Silvia Hawkins of Indiana; 8 grandchildren; mother, Rosie Pedigo of Smithville; 8 siblings, Robert Cox, Chris Cox, Joe Cox, Phyllis Walker, Martha Cunningham, Brenda Bratcher, Teresa Murphy and Trudie Matthews; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family has honored Ms. Lattimore’s request to be cremated and no services are planned. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You’ to the staff at NHC HealthCare and Avalon Hospice for the love and care shown to Priscilla Ann during this time. Mary John Burton Hobson

It is with great regret that we announce the passing of Mary John Burton Hobson, age 98, of Ardmore, Tennessee. Johnnie passed away peacefully at her residence on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020.
Born on October 24, 1921 in Smithville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of John Hershel Burton and Alta Lura Cantrell Burton. Johnnie met her husband, Ike Gowen Hobson, and they moved to Ardmore, Tennessee in 1963 where they enjoyed raising their family and being part of the Ardmore community.
Johnnie was a homemaker and a faithful member of the Ardmore United Methodist Church. She dearly loved her church family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Johnnie is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Gerry) Shannon of Huntsville, AL; a son, Randy (Kathy) Hobson of Fayetteville, TN; grandchildren Kylie (Tayler) Bisignani of Birmingham, AL; Haley (Brandon) Johnson of Columbus, MS; Heidi (John) Richardson of Fayetteville, TN; Auburn Hobson of Fayetteville, TN; and Anna Lindsay (Jason) Keen of Brentwood, TN; great-grandchildren Holt Richardson, Amelia Kate Richardson, Ben (Bekah) Rambo, Whitt Hobson, Liam Hobson, Porter Keen, Sadie Keen, Tripp Keen, Brady Johnson, baby London Atwell Bisignani arriving in June; and sibling, Billie Doris Cook of Smithville, TN.
In addition to her parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband, Ike Gowen Hobson, and a sister, Jodi Louise Evans.
A private family service will be held for Johnnie with Rev. Debbie Eubanks of Ardmore United Methodist Church officiating with burial following in the Gatlin Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no public gathering at this time.

Cheryl Lynn Phaup Owen age 65 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday night, April 14, 2020 at her residence. She was born September 1, 1954 in Ferndale, Michigan to her parents, the late Kenneth Roy and Doris Jean Porter Phaup. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Danny and William Phaup. Cheryl was of the Baptist Faith and worked in Education in the DeKalb County School System as an Education Assistant and most recently as a Supervisor at LBJ & C Headstart in Smithville. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James Owen of Smithville; 3 children, James Lynn Owen, Jessica Renee Owen and Ashley Nicole Owen all of Smithville; grandchildren, Christian James Owen, Haylea Elizabeth Owen, Colton Ryan Owen; 1 brother, Lawrence Phaup and 2 step-sisters, Brooke Degregorio and Michelle Phaup. Due to the Covid-19 and the Governor’s Executive Order, the family will have a Private Graveside Service at DeKalb Cemetery with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. Dennis Ray Jenkins, Sr.

Mr. Dennis Ray Jenkins, Sr. age 72 of Sparta, passed away Monday, April 13, 2020 at his residence in the Johnsons Chapel Community of DeKalb County. Mr. Jenkins was born May 26, 1947 in Robbinsville, NC to his parents, the late Troy Isaac and Roselle Anderson Jenkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step-daughter, Helen Petty; grandson, Dylan Petty; 3 brothers, Troy Jenkins, Gudger Jenkins and Ted Jenkins; 3 sisters, Erma Tipton, Grace Debty and Doris Pannell. Dennis had a Master’s Degree in Carpentry and Masonry, worked in construction, was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam and was a member of the Open Door Bible Baptist Church in Goose Creek, SC. Dennis was a man that loved God, Family and Country. He lived out the true example of being a Christian. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Laurel Jenkins of Sparta; children, Denise (Don) Scarborough of Dawsonville, GA, Rhonda (Mickey) Lemons of Tennille, GA, Ray (Tammy) Jenkins, Jr. of Goose Creek, SC, Nancy Brink of Columbia, SC and Cody Atnip of Sparta; step-son, Anthony Atnip of Smithville; grandchildren, Dakota Ware, Charlie Latham, James Kroeck, Susie Latham, Dulton Latham, Nickie Doblin, Jay Latham, III, Kirby Goforth, Kacie Goforth, Tia Lemons, Mickenzy Lemons, Colton Griffin, Dale Atnip, McKinley Jenkins, Laura Jenkins, Katy Chislom, Candace Brink, Cachet Hardison, Travis Brink, Tony Lee Petty and Eric Petty; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Douglas Jenkins of Bryson City, NC, Johnny Jenkins of Fontana Dam, NC, Gale Jenkins of Marble, NC, Donald Jenkins of Robbinsville, NC and Terry Jenkins of Gastonia, NC; sisters, Sue Lingerfelt of Gastonia, NC, Nellie Jo Davis of Andrews, NC, and Carol Anderson of Fontana Dam, NC and several nieces and nephews. The family has honored Mr. Jenkins request to be cremated and a Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held later in North Carolina and will be announced when the date and time are set. Mr. Marcus Emerson Baez, age 37 of Smithville passed away Monday, April 13, 2020 at his residence.
Marcus was born February 9, 1983 in Greenfield Massachusetts to his parents, Wally Pedro & Deborah Baker Baez. He graduated from Kenwood High School in Clarksville, attended Trevecca Nazarene College where he received his Bachelors Degree and was a member of the National Honor Society. Marcus formerly worked in Human Resources at Shiroki and he was of the Baptist faith.
In accordance with the Governors Executive Order Number 17 regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no public visitation with the family. Private Graveside Services for the family will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandmother, Linda Sue Rucci & Paternal Grandfather, Bernadino Confesor Baez. Uncle, Luis Angel Baez. Survivors include his Fiancé, Alexis Hardrick of Smithville, TN. Parents, Wally Pedro & Deborah Baker Baez of Clarksville, TN. Daughter, Isabell Morgan Baez of Lebanon, TN. 2 Sisters, Brandy Anne Baez of Henderson, TN & Ashley Morgan Baez-Keels of Clarksville, TN.
