48 year old Staley Anthony Washer of Smithville passed away Saturday at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was a Baptist and nursery worker. The funeral will be Monday at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Charlie Lawson will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. until the service at 3 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Mary Margaret Miller and sister, Brenda Robinson. Survivors include four brothers, Jimmie and Bobby Washer, Doyle and Marie Washer and Billy and Sharon Washer; six sisters, Carolyn Chapman, Kathleen Henry, Linda and Phillip Evans, Claudine and Darrell Pedigo, and Betty and Robert Lawson all of Smithville and Ada and James Qualls of Morrison. Several nieces and nephews survive. In memory of Staley, the family has requested donations be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

Linda Lee Thompson passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, Tennessee.
Linda was the daughter of the late A.P. McClain and Mary Alice Brown McClain.
Linda always wanted to put others first and serve everyone around her. She will long be remembered for her fried chicken.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jerry Dale Abston and a brother, Loyd Hyder; three brothers-in-law, Arvis Lee, Tommy Thompson, and Albert Thompson; sister-in-law, Wanda Thompson.
She is survived by her husband of fifty six years, Eddie Thompson; daughter, Kim Abston of Cookeville; granddaughter, Morgan Abston of Cookeville; sisters, Pat Lee of Cookeville and Debbie (Steve) London of Smithville, Tennessee; brother, Wayne (Lavita) McClain of Cookeville; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hyder and Faye Thompson, both of Cookeville; several nieces and nephews.

Tina Renee Serna

McMinnville, TN resident and DeKalb County, TN native Tina Renee Serna, age 44, was born August 19, 1974 and died December 25, 2018 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital following a sudden illness.
A caregiver with Generations and a member of the Catholic Church, she was the daughter of Gene Groves of McMinnville and Barbara Currey of McMinnville. She was married to Javier Serna of McMinnville. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by four children, Damon Grove, Deven Grove, Alysia Grove and Luis Corona all of McMinnville; five grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Regina and Albert Johnson of McMinnville; mother-in-law, Modesta Almaguer of McMinnville; three brothers-in-law, Jose Serna, Lazaro Serna and Alfonso Serna all of McMinnville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive.
She was preceded in death by brother, Carl Grove.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 in High’s Chapel. Burial will follow in Cantrell Cemetery in DeKalb County, TN. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service Friday at High’s.

David Francis Jose

David Francis Jose age 71 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday night, December 18, 2018 at his residence. He was born May 11, 1947 in Highland Park, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mattie May Rowland Jose; wife, Darleen Jose; 2 brothers, Glen Daughtery and Rowland Jose. David was a Baptist, served in the U.S. Army 101st and 82nd Divisions during the Vietnam Conflict, and worked in electronics and Tool & Die. He is survived by 4 children, Deborah Farley of Rock Island, Donna Dyment, David Jose, Jr. and Danielle (Kevin) Tamachaski all of Michigan; 5 grandchildren, Jamie Hodges, Shane Dyment, Austin Jose, Lily Bates and Haylee Tamachaski; 2 great-granddaughters, Annabelle Grace Dyment and Kalyea J’Cheryl Hodges; 1 brother, Daniel (Deborah) Jose of Smithville; sister-in-law, Suzan Jacobs of Michigan and a special nephew, SFC Paul Daniel Jose. The family has honored David’s request to be cremated and there will be a Memorial Service 2 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Friday 1 pm until the time of the service at 2 p.m. A graveside Military Service will be held later. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Dorothy Ione Malone

Mrs. Dorothy Ione Malone, age 89, of Temperance Hall, TN, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018.
Mrs. Malone was born January 14, 1929 in the Hays Ridge Community of Dekalb County, TN, a daughter of the late Bill Judkins and Virgie Bates Cripps Judkins. She married William Logan Malone on January 3, 1975 and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1982. Mrs. Malone was also preceded in death by Brother; Jesse Howard Judkins, Half Sisters; Hazel Louise Lamberson, Johnie Nixon, Maggie Green Ray, and Lizzie Melissa Justice and Half Brother; William B. Cripps. Mrs. Malone was a member of the Temperance Hall Pentecostal Church for 69 years.
Mrs. Malone is survived by Nieces and Nephews; Lynn (Linda) Lamberson of Temperance Hall, TN, Jean (Frank) Herman of Alexandria, TN, Rebecca Thomas of Alexandria, TN, Jerry Cripps of Alexandria, TN, and Marie Cripps of Temperance Hall, TN. Several great nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Malone are scheduled to be conducted from the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 1PM with Chris McMillen officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordonsville Cemetery.
Visitation with the Malone Family will be at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Wednesday from 2PM until 8PM and on Thursday after 11AM until service time at 1PM.

28 year old Amanda Smith McIntyre of Alexandria died Thursday from injuries in an automobile accident on Highway 70 at Liberty. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God. The funeral is to be announced. Dusty Desimone will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her father, Junior Randall Smith. Survivors include her husband, Ralph McIntyre of Murfreesboro. Two children, Makenzie McIntyre and Gunnar McIntyre of Alexandria. Mother, Mary Smith of Alexandria. One brother, Joshua McCowan of Smithville. One sister, Maranda Smith of Lebanon. Grandmother, Louise Smith. Aunts and uncles, Debbie and Dewayne Carlton and Teresa and Michael Murphy. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has asked that all donations please be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with burial expenses.
