53 year old Rose Marie Hines of Dowelltown passed away Monday at her residence. The family has chosen direct cremation. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Young and Frances DeJohn. Survivors include a son, Aaron Hines of Dowelltown. One daughter, Abby and James Caplinger of Smithville. Three grandchildren, Bryson Hines, Brookelynn, and Brayden Caplinger all of Smithville. Two brothers, Bill DeJohn of Chelsea, Michigan and Paul DeJohn of Smithscreek, Michigan. Two sisters, Mary Davis of Smithscreek, Michigan and Evelyn DiGovanni of Port Huron, Michigan. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Barbra Ann Holder Atnip age 58 of Smithville, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 25, 2019 at St. Thomas Dekalb Hospital in Smithville. Born Jan. 20, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Hatton Alexander Holder, Sr. and Shirley Ann Stanley Holder. Barbra was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Eric Atnip, Sr. and a brother, Hatton Holder, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Steven (Crystal) Atnip of Smithville and Eric (Jennifer) Atnip of Gainesboro; grandchildren, Erika, Stephanie, Savannah, April and Toni; sister, Patricia (James) Silcox of Liberty; Jackie (Donna) Holder of Liberty and Robert (Ladonna) Holder of Hartsville; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2019 at Hunter Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. till service time on Monday. Interment will be at Hearn Hill Cemetery. On Friday, January 25, 2019, Linda Sue Parsley Foutch, age seventy-seven, passed from this life at her home in Smithville, Tennessee.

Linda Sue was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, David Leon (“Boxie”) Foutch; her parents, Columbus Vernon Parsley and Ophia Odell Pack Parsley of Smithville; her brothers, Chester Parsley and Howard Parsley; her sister, Lorell Parsley Hobson; and her nephew, Larry Parsley, all of Smithville, Tennessee.

Linda Sue is survived by her sister, Peggy Parsley Johnson, of Smithville; her brother-in-law, Glen A. Foutch (and wife, Lois) Foutch, of Smyrna; her sister-in-law, Anna Jean Bond, of McMinnville; her nieces, Rita Hobson Cripps (and husband, Don Cripps), Virginia Hobson White (and husband, Mack White), Teresa Johnson Caldwell (and husband, Larry Caldwell), all of Smithville; and Cynthia Foutch Richardson (and husband, Tim Richardson), of Cookeville; and her nephews, Ricky Parsley (and wife, Maria Parsley), of Woodbury; Todd Foutch (and wife, Nina Foutch), of Smyrna; and Jeff Bond (and wife, Angela Bond), of McMinnville. Linda Sue is also survived by numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.

Linda Sue was a member of the Smithville Church of Christ. She was employed with Timers in Smithville for over thirty years. Linda Sue enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 27, at 2:00 P.M., at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 26 commencing at 4:00 P.M., and ending at 8:00 P.M.; and on Sunday, January 27 beginning at 10:00 A.M., and continuing until the funeral service

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Smithville Church of Christ or to the DeKalb Animal Coalition.

Mr. Anthony “Tony” Ensley Hagan was born to Judge Willard Hagan and Madeline Bobo Hagan in Lebanon, TN. He practiced law for over 40 years in Lebanon, Greeneville, and Smithville, TN. He also served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Third Judicial District. He felt honored to be on the Smithville Electric System Board of Directors for 12 years. He was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church and loved singing hymns. Along with his legal career, he was a businessman, investor, and a land developer.

He is survived by his wife, Frankie Hendrixson Hagan; his mother, Madeline Hagan; son, Anthony Ensley Hagan and wife Andrea; daughter, Madeline Darst and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Emeline, Anthony Ensley, III, and Natalie Hagan and Thatcher Darst; stepchildren, Emily Bell and husband Rodney, Rebekah Taylor and husband Jeff, stepgrandchildren, Lucy Hebb, Lincoln Eliza and Will Grant Taylor; sister, Melinda Porter and husband Kendall; nephews, Bill and wife Jenny, Chad and wife Tonya, and Stephen Porter.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of interment. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26 at 2 pm at the Smithville First Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be from 12 until the time of the service at 2 pm. Bro. Chad Ramsey will be officiating.

Contributions may be made to the DeKalb Relay for Life or Smithville First Baptist Church to honor the memory of Mr. Hagan.

Doctor of Psychology and Navy Master Chief Eddie Norman Neal passed away Wednesday January 23, 2019 at NHC Smithville. He was born to his parents Edward and Lena Neal April 29, 1938. Eddie attended elementary school at Smithville Colored School and High School at Wilson County Training High in Lebanon, TN.

After graduating from high school, Eddie joined the Navy and attended the Naval War College in Rhode Island. He was assigned to the submarine corps where he served aboard the nuclear submarine Francis Scott Key. Dr. Neal opened his psychology practice, the Center for Effective Living in San Diego, California after retiring from the Navy. He was an avid sports car enthusiast, golfer and he loved animals.

The funeral will be Saturday at 12 noon at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burnace Lyons will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at 12 noon.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Lena Bass Neal and a sister Katie Neal Vance. He is survived by his daughters Gemetta Neal of Connecticut and Phyllis Padilla of California; two sons, James Neal of Virginia and Kevin and Laura Neal of Main; two granddaughters Kersey and Celina Neal of Maine; and one sister Jackie Smith of Smithville.

Gladys Pinegar Young age 86 of Smithville, passed away Monday night, January 21, 2019 at her residence.  She was born November 23, 1932 to her parents, the late Johnny B and O’Fallon Colwell Pinegar.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Young;  2 brothers, Jay Loyd and Johnny Pinegar; and 2 sisters, Ella “Dean” Vanatta and Louise Hendrixson and a son-in-law, Wayne Herndon.  She was a Baptist and a homemaker.  She is survived by 6 children, Sue Herndon of Smithville, Wayne (Gail) Young of Smithville, Carolyn (Matt) Robinson of Murfreesboro, Charles Young and Fiancé Keisha Farless of Smithville, Annette (Gary) Sells of Castalian Springs and Stevie Young of Smithville; 6 grandchildren, David Young, Christopher Robinson, Amanda Young, Brandi Turner, Brandon Herndon, Kayla Gayle Sells; 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.  Funeral services will be 11:AM Thursday, January 24, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Banks Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
