Maxie Helen Roller

Maxie Helen Roller age 90 of Rock Island, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. She was born October 25, 1927 to her parents the late, Roy Potter and Sarah Annie Lappen Cantrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Herman Roller; 2 children, William Earl and Eddie Herman Roller; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Pelham Roller; 1 sister, Tressa Cantrell Young; 4 brothers, Lee Harmon Cantrell, Robert Cleburn Cantrell, Willie Atwood Cantrell and Charles Hugh Cantrell. Ms. Helen was a faithful member of the New Union The Baptist Church and retired from Southwestern Nursery Supply Co. She leaves to cherish her memory, 3 sons, Larry (Rhonda) Roller of Michigan, Steve Roller of Rock Island and Danny (Paula) Roller of Rock Island; special daughter, Jana (Buddy) Patterson of McMinnville; grandchildren, Tracy (Jeff) Miller, Tammy Roller, Stephanie (Billy) Alford-Roller, Gunter Roller, Sarah (Matt) Wilson, Mary Elizabeth Roller and Luke Patterson; great-grandchildren, Kurtlin and Haley Miller. Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM Friday, January 19, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Frank Randolph officiating and burial to follow in Keltonburg Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday 12 Noon until 8 PM and Friday 10 AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Lighthouse Christian Camp in memory of Ms. Helen. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Roger Sharp, Sr.

January 16, 2018

Roger Sharp, Sr. age 67, of Silver Point, TN passed away at Cookeville Regional Medical Center late Sunday night January 14, 2018. He was retired from Star Manufacturing after 26 years and owner of Sharp Lodge in Silver Point and was a Baptist. He was born June 1, 1950 in Crossvile, TN to Hazel Sharp Griffth and the late Oakley Stanley Sharp. He moved to Smithville in 1975. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Treva Sharp of Smithville. Son, Roger D. Sharp, Jr. of Silver Point. Grandson, Roger David Sharp, III of Mt. Juliet. His mother, Hazel Sharp Griffith of Silver Point. Brothers, Dennis (Annie) Sharp of Silver Point and David (Melissa) Sharp of Smithville and many close friends and honorary family members. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. B.J. Thomason officiating and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 3 PM until 8 PM and Thursday 9 AM until the time of the service at 11:00. Doug Neal

January 15, 2018

Doug Neal age 71 of Smithville, passed away Sunday morning, January 14, 2018 at his residence. He was born January 22, 1946 to his parents, the late Clarence and Lillian Hale Neal. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 great-granddaughter, Gracie Colwell; 1 sister, Bobbie Jean Houk and 1 brother, L.W. Neal. Doug and Kathy were the owners of All State Drywall and Painting, he was a Freewill Baptist and attended the Smithville First Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Neal of Smithville; 6 children, Gayle Pack of Smithville, Bruce Neal of Smithville, Greg Neal of Smithville, Brian (Crystal) Neal of Smithville, Ronnie (Samantha) Neal of Cookeville and Nathan Neal of Florida; 11 grandchildren, Kerrrie, Kayla, Alisha, Brice, Kerra, Seth, Brilee, Ricky, Austin, Maddison and Elijah; 5 great-grandchildren, Kyndall, Sy, Carson, Lillie and Kordale; 4 sisters, Loretta Bain, Pat Sanders, Linda Knowles and Elaine McGuire all of Smithville; special niece and caregiver, Deborah Page and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Thursday, January 18, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Bernard Houk and Mike Adams officiating and burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 12 Noon until 8:00PM and Thursday from 9:00 until the time of the service at 2 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Noel Lee Redmon

January 13, 2018

Noel Lee Redmon age 58 of Smithville, passed away suddenly Friday evening, January 12, 2018 at his residence. He was born August 7, 1959 to his parents the late Everett Redmon and Agatha Fay Cantrell Redmon Young. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Cleta (Mike) Murphy and Annie Rhea Johnson. Noel was self-employed in the lawn care business and a faithful member of New Life United Pentecostal Church. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sabra Patrick Redmon of Smithville; daughter, Amy (Steven) Ferrell of Smithville; 4 grandchildren, Shaun and Linda West, Colton and Ellabeth Ferrell; mother and step-father, Agatha and Eddie Young of Smithville; 3 brothers, Ronnie (Judy) Redmon of Dowelltown, Tommy Redmon of Smithville and Eddie Young, Jr. of Cookeville; 2 sisters, Angela (Rick) Knowles of Smithville and Sherry (Alonzo) Harris of Virginia; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. Funeral services celebrating Noel’s life will be held 1PM Monday, January 15, 2018 at New Life United Pentecostal Church with Bro. Dwayne Cornelius officiating and Trista Ashburn delivering the eulogy. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday 1 PM until 5 PM at the funeral home and Monday 10 AM until the time of the service at 1 PM at the church. Billy Nixon Willoughby

January 12, 2018

Mr. Billy Nixon Willoughby, age 88, of Alexandria, TN passed away Thursday evening at his home. Mr. Willoughby was born October 11, 1929 in Ohio, the son of the late Lee and Ocia Jim Nixon Willoughby. Also preceding him in death is his wife; Sue (Corley) Willoughby, on February 14, 2015, daughter; Wendy Willoughby and infant son; Billy Mitchell Willoughby. Mr. Willoughby was retired from Avco as a Material Handler and he was a farmer. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and he served his country in United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Willoughby is survived by his Son; Mark (Marilyn) Willoughby of Alexandria, TN. Daughter; Pat (J.C.) Allen of Alexandria, TN. Three Grandchildren; Brittany (Andrew) Dixon of Smithville, TN, Luke Willoughby of Alexandria, TN, and Holly (Lucus) Bain of Alexandria, TN. Three Great Grandchildren; Katie and Cole Bain and David Andrew Dixon. Step Grand Daughter; Amanda Corley.
Funeral Services for Mr. Willoughby are scheduled to be conducted on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2PM at the Chapel of Avant Funeral Home with military honors. Bro. Dan Mallette will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation with the Willoughby family will be held at Avant Funeral Home on Friday from 2pm-8pm and Saturday from 11am until service time at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Mt. Zion Cemetery Fund in memory of Mr. Willoughby.




Clora Ann Richardson Becker

Clora Ann Richardson Becker, age 79, of McMinnville, TN and a native of Lawrenceburg, TN was born February 1, 1938 and died January 11, 2018 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville following an extended illness. A retired nurse with South Fulton Hospital and a member of the First Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late George and Martha Delma Young Richardson. She was married to Ralph Edward Becker who preceded her in death on May 26, 2002. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Faye Richardson Barnes. She is survived by son, Steve Becker of Peachtree City, GA; daughter, Susan Davenport of Columbia, TN; five grandchildren, Alex Davenport and Mary Davenport both of Cookeville, TN, Jackson Davenport of Columbia, TN, Sarah Becker of Franklin, TN and Zachary Becker of Georgia; two sisters, Nancy Richardson Cassity of Smithville, TN and Glenna Richardson Lorance of the Centertown Community; and several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2018 in High’s Chapel with Jim Carden officiating. Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Monday at High’s. High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
