Mrs. Tommie Webster Dedmon

Mrs. Tommie Webster Dedmon, age 83, of Alexandria, TN, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018.

Mrs. Dedmon was born February 21, 1935 in Dekalb County, TN, daughter of the late James Early Webster and Vallie Tramel Webster. Mrs. Tommie married Buford C. Dedmon and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by Son; Burford Earl Dedmon, Daughter; Teresa Dedmon, Five Sisters, and Two Brothers. Mrs. Tommie was a member of the Malone’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Dedmon is survived by Granddaughters; April (Joel) Armstrong of Hickman, TN, and Misty Dedmon of Smithville, TN. Great-Grandchildren; Brettany Hunt, Brady Hunt, Brylee Hunt, Layla Dedmon, Monica Lomas, and Numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Dedmon are scheduled to be conducted from Avant Funeral Home on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 3PM with Bro. Jason Rich officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillview Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held at Avant Funeral Home on Friday from 10AM until service time at 3PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to assist with the funeral expenses.




Opal Faye Lawson Glover

July 27, 2018

69 year old Opal Faye Lawson Glover of Smithville passed away Thursday at her home. She was a member of the Emmanuel Bread of Life and a retired employee of Kingston Timer. The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Micky Hill will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until the service at 3 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claudie and Dora Irene Arnold Lawson. Survivors include a son, Brad Driver; an uncle, Jimmy Arnold, and an aunt, Joan and George Hamilton all of Smithville. Several cousins also survive along with God sister Violet Grissom of Lebanon and special neighbors. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.




Jonell Amonett

July 26, 2018

Jonell Amonett age 96, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the Webb House in Smithville. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Floyd and Jodie Oakley Amonett; brothers, Wade Amonett and wife, Frankie, Jim Amonett, Sr. and wife, Cliffie; nephews, Jim Amonett, Jr. and Jason Gaither. She is survived by two nephews, Bill Amonett and wife, Jane of Nashville and Richard Amonett and wife, Cathy of Nashville; two nieces, Bobbie Huffine and husband, Ward of Knoxville and Beth Amonett of Murfreesboro. Ms. Amonett was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church where she served as church organist more than 40 years. She was a retired school teacher. A private graveside services will be held at DeKalb Memorial Gardens on Saturday, July 28, 2018 with Mark Thomas and Mike Braswell officiating. There will be no services or visitation at the funeral home. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Tamyra Taylor

Tamyra Taylor age 50 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday morning, July 24, 2018 at her residence. She was a CNA and a homemaker and member of the Smithville First Assembly of God. Tamyra was preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul “Pappy” and Lassie Martin and Logan and Ollie Green. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Taylor of Smithville; 2 children, Shana (Will) Key of Smithville and Latroya (Phil) Key of Sparta; 5 grandchildren, Tavia Oakley, Greyson Key, Kyleigh Key, Liam Key and Holden Key; parents, Tavous and Shirley Martin of Smithville; brother, Dennis (Marilyn) Braun of Indiana; sister, Susan (Chuck) Gulick of McMinnville; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 4:PM Thursday, July 26, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Graden Kirksey and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 12 Noon until 8:PM and Thursday 9:AM until the time of the service at 4:PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Joe Collins

July 24, 2018

89 year old Joe Collins of Smithville passed away Monday at St. Thomas Rutherford. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served 21 years with the Army Security Agency. Collins was a retired United States Postal Clerk and a member of the Smithville Church of Christ. A graveside service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Maplewood Cemetery in Pulaski. Dan Gulley will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Collins was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel T. and Eunice Murphy Collins; his wife, Mary L. Collins; two brothers, Samuel T. Collins, II and Marion “Shorty” Collins. Survivors include a nephew, Samuel T. Collins, III and wife Barbara of Pulaski. One great niece and one great nephew also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Donations may be made to the Church of Christ Day School.




Linda Darlene Phillips

July 19, 2018

69 year old Linda Darlene Phillips of Dowelltown passed away at her home in Dowelltown. She was a Baptist and an Administrative Assistant. The family has chosen a direct cremation. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Ruth Jackson Stafford and a brother, Clifford Stafford. Survivors include two daughters, Jill and Frank Lane of Smithville and Janell and Ruben Millan of South Carolina. A son, Eric and Renee Silcox of Florida. Seven grandchildren, David and Kuntea Silcox of South Carolina, Devan Nicholcon of North Carolina, Arielle and Jordan Silcox of Florida, Colby, Tiara, and Laila Clark all of Smithville. Five great grandchildren. A sister, Dolores Sapp and a brother Bill and Gail Stafford of Florida. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
