91 year old William Bailey Dickens of Smithville passed away Thursday at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was a Methodist and a retired maintenance Elm Hill Meat worker. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. B.J. Thomason will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 1-8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until the service at 1:30 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Grady Dickens; his wife, Emma Ruth Dickens; three sisters, Frances Dickens, Irene Silcox and Athelene Corley; and three brothers, Earl, Ernest, and Harry Dickens. He is survived by a daughter, Judy Ann Phillips and a son, Larry Joe and Janey Dickens all of Smithville. Four grandchildren, Chasity Phillips Watson of Smithville, William Corey and Rebecca Dickens of Smithville, Eric Joseph and Jessica Dickens of Murfreesboro and Donnie Young of Smithville. Eight grandchildren, Thaxton and Avia Salinasn, Nervaeh Watson, William, Sean, Landon and Emma Dickens and Logan Crouch; and a sister, Ethel Mai Price of Old Hickory. Lois Reeder Russell age 53 of Lenoir, North Carolina and a native of DeKalb County, passed away Wednesday night, January 10, 2018 at her residence. She was born August 30, 1965 to her parents, the late Paul and Mildred Hawkins Reeder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jerry Reeder and Billy Reeder; 1 sister, Judy Reeder; special uncle, Robert Lee Reeder and the father of her daughters, Dickie Rogers. She was a Baptist and a waitress. Lois is survived by her husband, Duane Russell of Dudley Shoals, NC; 2 daughters, Mary Rogers and Ashley Rogers both of Lenoir, NC; 1 son, Christopher Russell of Dudley Shoals, NC; grandchildren, Zoey Davenport, Daisha Staples, Jakob Moulton, Malachi Lawrence and coming soon Wizdom Rogers; 2 sisters, Peggy George and Doris Henry both of Smithville; 1 brother, Tommy Reeder of Smithville; sister-in-law, Kathy Reeder of Smithville. Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Sunday, January 14, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday 1 PM until 7 PM and Sunday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. 60 year old Helen Jeanette Ervin of Smithville passed away Tuesday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Outreach Baptist Church. The funeral will be Thursday at noon at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Nathan Thomason will officiate and burial will be in Bonham Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Oval and Frances Davis Murphy; four sisters, Jena Hesson, Brenda Taylor, Martha Todd and Patricia Matthews; and two brothers, William Matthews and Terry Murphy. Survivors include two sons, Eric and Michelle Ervin and Jackie and Christina Ervin. Thirteen grandchildren, Destiny, Haley, Katie, Samuel, Lashae, Joshua, Nateisha, Amy, Tessa, Kaden, Brannon, Spencer, and Ezra Ervin all of Smithville. Two sisters, Pam Hooten of Michigan and Kathy Murphy of McMinnville. Five brothers, James and Darlene Matthews of Liberty, Willie Matthews, Roy and Dink Matthews, Randall Neal, and Doug and Norma Murphy all of Smithville. 58 year old Janice Houk Zoller of Smithville passed away Sunday at her residence. She was a Jehovah Witness. Zoller was also a caregiver for family and the public; secretary/Spanish translator for D.H.S. in Smithville; Voluntary translator for the school system; police department, public courts, DeKalb Hospital, county doctors for approximately 20 years; and interior decorator. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Young Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-9 p.m.; Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.; and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. She was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Earl-Houk Cantrell; father, Earl G. Houk; sister, Pam Bell; and a brother, Bobby Houk. Survivors include her husband, David M. Zoller of Smithville. Mother and step-father, Sue and Sonny Guy of Smithville. 55 year old Marsha Stults Herman passed away Saturday, January 6. She was a Christian and a homemaker. Marsha enjoyed spending her time growing her own food, spending time with her 2 dogs, and never missed an opportunity to talk to others about health and essential oils. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Entombment will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-8 p.m.; Monday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.; and Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the service at 10 a.m. She was preceded in death by her father, Sonny Stults. Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Herman. Two children, Jacob Herman and Katie and her husband Jon Slager. Mother, Frances Stults. One brother, Kenny and his wife Tavia Stults. A sister, Kim Stults. Nieces, Jackie Davidson, Julie Richardson, and JoDee Prichard. A nephew, Sonny Stults. Jerry Ray George

Jerry Ray George, age 73, of Liberty passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at his home. He was a native of Cannon Co.Survivors include his mother, Anna Mae Snow George of Woodbury; Sons, Timothy (Susie) George of Manchester & Danny George of Gassaway; Grandchildren, Amelia George & Hannah Tetters; and Brother, Curtis (Jeannie) George of Bradyville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Braxton George.
Mr. George was a member of the Sycamore Baptist Church and was a factory worker and truck driver. He also operated the Liberty Dance Hall.
Funeral Services will be 11 AM Monday, January 8, 2018 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 3 to 8 PM Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the funeral home.
