Albert Knight age 61 passed away Saturday August 13, 2022, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Mr. Knight was born January 6,1961 to his parents the late James Bedford and Anna Sue Smallwood Knight. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ledia Nokes; granddaughter, Shyanna Knight; 2 brothers, Joe Knight and Phillip Knight; sister, Charlotte Johnson. He was a Mechanic and a Farmer. He is survived by his children, Sandra Knight, Sue Knight, James Knight, Bradley Knight, and Angel Knight.; grandchildren, Christopher Gibbs, Navaya Knight, Dillion Johnson, Anna Knight, Katelyn Knight, Romeo Knight, Clayton, Madison and Tiera Knight, Heaven, Danny, and Kimora Austin; great-grandchildren, Patience Knight, Addison and Aiden Gibbs; sister, Frances Watts. Graveside services and interment will be 1 PM Tuesday at DeKalb Cemetery with Bro. Michael Hale officiating. Visitation will be Monday 4:00PM till 7:00PM and on Tuesday 10:00AM until 12:30 PM at which time Mr. Knight will be taken to the cemetery for the graveside service. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Burton Jones age 75 of the Green Hill area passed away, Friday, August 12th, in Nashville, TN at Alive Hospice, following a brief illness. He was born in McMinnville August 19, 1946. Preceding him in death were his parents Brackett and Chloe Stoner Jones, a brother; Clifton Jones and 7 sisters; Frances Wilson, Opal Cantrell, Geraldean Reynolds, Arlene Oakley, Johnnie Jones, Faye Hobbs and Brenda Gail Bouldin. He was a retired farmer and nurseryman. Surviving is his loving wife of 56 years, Lena Jones of the Green Hill area, 2 sons; Danny (Penny) Jones, Teddy (Amanda) Jones both of the Green Hill area, 1 daughter; April (Wes) Winton of Winchester, 8 grandchildren, Danielle Glaeser, Gabrielle Locke, Dreama Leemis, Dillon Jones, Dana Jones, Breanna Jones, Julie Winton, and Issac Winton, 5 great grandchildren, Scarlett Glaeser, Preston Leemis, Evie Leemis, Sophia Leemis, and Brimlee Jones; several nieces and nephews also survive.  Burton was a member of the Bluff Springs Church of Christ and was previously a member of the Keltonburg Church of Christ where he served as an elder. He was a vendor at the Warren County Farmers Market for 25 years. Funeral services will be 4:30 PM Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Dekalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Teddy Jones, April Winton and Wes Winton officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.  Visitation with the family will be Saturday 4:PM until 7:PM and Sunday 2:PM until the time of the service at 4:30PM.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Goldie Hale age 82, of Smithville, passed away Thursday August 11, 2022 at her residence. She was born January 27, 1940 to her parents the late Alfred Dellon and Velma Judd Youngblood. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Francis Hogan and Peggy Hale. Ms. Goldie was a member of Christ Pentacostal Church and she worked as a Seamstress at the Shirt Factory. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Billy Hale of Smithville; sons, Scott Hale of Nashville, and Tim (Angeline) Hale of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Rosa Grace Hale and Asher Hale; brother, Bud Youngblood of Dowelltown; sister-in-law, Donna (Richard) Summers of Dowelltown; brother-in-law, Carlon (Jean) Hale of Alexandria; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Sunday August 14, 2022 at 2:00PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating with burial to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 4:00PM till 8:00 PM and on Sunday 11:00AM until the time of the service at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Caris Hospice or Gideon Bibles. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

64-year-old Mark Daniel Ours of Murfreesboro passed away Friday morning at Stone Crest Hospital in Smyrna of an extended illness. He was a member of the Church of Christ, and a Civil Engineer for the cities of Columbia and Murfreesboro. A graveside services will be held on Sunday at 3pm at the Keltonburg Methodist Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Cloyd officiating. Visitation with the family will be Sunday from Noon until 2:30pm at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.

Mr. Ours was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Ours. He is survived by his mother, Laverne Ours of Smithville; 2 brothers, Dr. David (Robyn) Ours of Milton, John Ours of Smithville; special friends, Melanie Richardson, Nancy Hoover, Cliff Price, and Mark Wallace; several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to flowers donations can be made to Keltonburg Methodist Cemetery.

Billye Ann Baker, age 77 of Liberty, TN passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at her residence.  She was a member of the Baptist faith, a homemaker, and loved arts and crafts.

Funeral services for Mrs. Baker will be held on Saturday, August, 13, 2022 @ 2pm with internment to follow at Town Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 3-8pm and on Saturday from 9am until the service at 2pm.

Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Rubye Ferrell Adcock; son, Joseph Scott Barnes; brother-in-law, Billy Baker; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Howe, Mary Murphy, and Shirley Ann Gibbs.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn Baker of Liberty; son, Johnny Wayne (Abbie) Barnes of Smithville; grandson, Colby Barnes of Smithville; sister, Virginia (Edward) Smotherman of Chrisitana; nephews, Ricky Paul (Suzie) Smotherman of Murfreesboro and Brian Lee (Peggy) Smotherman of Rockvale; great nephew, Carson Lee Smotherman; daughter-in-law, Terrie (David) Kilgore of Smithville; brother-in-law, Jimmy (Faye) Baker; sisters-in-law, Sue Mitchell and Dorothy Minnear. Longtime Smith County resident Clyde Ray passed away on August 9, 2022 at the age of 84, in Smyrna, Tennessee.

Clyde Allen Ray was born January 5, 1938 in Lancaster, Tennessee to Wirt and Bonnie Betty Ray. He was the youngest of his six siblings. He graduated from Gordonsville High School in Gordonsville, Tennessee in May 1956. He went on to enlist in the US Army and was first stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia, Company D. He was honorably discharged and later met his future wife Ivora Jean Murray. They were married on July 28, 1961 in Oklahoma City and would eventually move to the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming to ranch and raise a family.

Fitting for the person he was and the places he would go, Clyde’s high school class voted him their ‘Best All-Around’ friend. Their class motto was “No Reward Without Labor”. He was born into a hardworking agricultural family who made their living off the land. He raised his children to understand the ‘living rewards’ that come from raising crops to feed and putting your full heart and toil into readying livestock for eventual sale. He made sure his children understood the true meaning of hard work and the benefits thereof. Most folks who met Clyde soon came to understand him to be a genuine, honest and kind person.
While in the Army, Clyde excelled in the welding trade and later put those skills to use as a welder on the “Iron Horses” of Wyoming’s Gas Hills oil fields. He went on to work for Fremont County, Wyoming School District #1 where he retired after more than 20 years of service to the county’s youth.

He moved back home to his beloved ‘Rocky Top’ in the mid-1990s where he lived until his death.

He was preceded in death by father Wirt Ray and mother Bonnie Betty Ray; brothers Louie (Evelyn), Paul (Mary), Joey (Frances), Pat (Deloris) and sisters Carlee (Joe) Bostic, Frankie (Douglas) Fletcher.
He is survived by daughters Regina (Joel) Meena of Cheyenne and Claudia (Gerald) Russell of Lander; son Edward (Leslie) Ray of Charlotte, NC; grandsons Tony and Eli Meena, Tucker and Aidan Russell and Dalton Ray; granddaughter Faith Ray and his youngest descendant, great grandson Johnny who shares his Great Grandfather’s fiery red hair and zest for life.

In accordance with his wishes he has been cremated. Memorial services will be held at Bass Funeral Home, in Gordonsville, TN on August 17, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. Visitation with the family will be at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 1:30PM until 3:30PM.
