Timothy Wayne Redmon

January 20, 2023

Mr. Timothy Wayne Redmon, age 47 of McMinnville, passed away Thursday night at his residence. He was a member of Sink Creek Missionary Baptist Church and worked with Jewel’s Construction Company.

Mr. Redmon was born on May 29, 1975 in Gallatin, TN to his parents Jewel Redmon and the late Pamela Harrison Redmon.

Visitation with the Redmon family will be on Saturday from 10:00 am until the service time at 2:00 pm at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Thomas Hale with officiate. Burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include one daughter, Megan Redmon, father, Jewel Redmon (Viva Johnson) all of Smithville, 3 Siblings, Chris (Rena) Redmon of Utah, Lora (Alan) Webb of Smithville and Brian (Tiane) Redmon of Westmoreland.

In addition to flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Willard Colwell

January 20, 2023

Willard Colwell of Smithville passed away Tuesday night January 17, 2023 at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville. He was born November 11, 1955 to his parents, the late Toy Brown & Lydia Maye Williams Colwell. Willard was a member of Coopers Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Brothers: John B., James, Dallas, Eugene, Floyd, Lillard and Johnnie Colwell; Sister: Martha Moore. Funeral Services will be 4 PM Monday, January 23, 2023 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Monday 12 Noon until the time of the service at 4 PM.
Survivors include his wife: Sally Colwell of Smithville; Children: Jermiah James (Christy) Colwell of Murfreesboro, Willard Lee(Cora) Colwell of New York, Sara (Cory) Williams of Cookeville, Rhonda (Royce) Moore of Dowelltown, Renae Edmonds of Smithville, Yvonne (Shannon) Hale of Smithville; Grandchildren: Avery, Evangeline, Amalie, Vienne, Jayse, Addison, Nick, Jayrah(Adam) Nunley, Leah Cooper, Bobby O’Conner, Jr., Michael Shuttleworth, Kathryn and Kaleb Hale; Great-Grandchildren: Benjamin and Shelby O’Conner; Brother: Daniel Colwell of Morrison. Glynda Sue Barrett

January 18, 2023

Glynda Sue Barrett, age 79, of Woodbury passed away peacefully at her residence Monday, January 16, 2023. She was born October 20, 1943, to her parents, the late Elzie and Alta Tate Vickers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Barrett; brother, Douglas Vickers; sister, Betty Foutch; son-in-law, Larry Prater; and nephew, Michael Foutch. Ms. Barrett was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and worked at Colonial Shirt Factory. She is survived by daughter, Pamela Prater of Woodbury; granddaughter, Jessica Prater and fiancé James Lackey of Woodbury; sister-in-law, Linda Vickers of Liberty; nephews, nieces, and lots of cousins; adopted family Ken, Pam and Chris Knowles; special friend, Elaine Rains. Graveside service and Interment will be held 2 PM Thursday January 19, 2023, at Pleasant View Cemetery with Bro. Russell Vickers officiating. There will not be any visitation held, family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Matthew Gipson

January 17, 2023

Matthew Gipson age 63 of Alexandria, passed away Sunday morning, January 15, 2023 at his residence. He was born June 14, 1959 to his parents, the late Charles Ray and Patsy Joan Brittin Gipson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Diane Haynes and Nancy Pinegar; grandson, Dylan Harwell. Matt was a member of Mt. Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church and a truck driver. He is survived by his wife, Tina Cook Gipson; 3 daughters, Tammy (Matt) Holder, Jaya (Jerry) Harwell and Tosha (Tommy) Maynard; 2 sons, Jamie (Holly) Anderson and Shannon (Jessica) Anderson; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Anthony) Little, Jacob Holder, Hannah Anderson (Austin Brown), Emily Anderson, Caitlyn and Colton Harwell, Tyler, Tanner, Leah, Kyler, Kayden and Makenzie Anderson, Carson Maynard and Zackary (Missy) Holder; great-grandchildren, Carter Little and Easton Holder; 2 sisters, Janet (Bud) Smartt, Mary Brewer; brother, Danny (Diane) Gipson; special sister-in-law, Melinda (Mark) Miller; brother-in-law, Ernie (Kristen) Cook; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Danny Chance and Danny Bandy officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 11:AM until 8 PM and Wednesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. In addition to flowers, the family ask that donations be made to either St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriner’s Children Hospital. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Randy Dewayne Ellis

Mr. Randy Dewayne Ellis, age 58 of Alexandria, TN, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

Mr. Ellis was born July 11, 1964 in Carthage, TN, a son of Grady Nixon Ellis and Edna Ruth Wright Ellis. He was a 1982 graduate of Gordonsville High School. Mr. Ellis worked at Dana and also was self employed as a logger and a welder and fabricator. He was a longtime member of Malone’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Mr. Ellis is survived by Daughter; Miranda (Nick) Grant of Alexandria, TN. Son; Andrew (Jamie Barber) Ellis of Gassaway, TN. Mother of his children; Jill Ellis of Gassaway, TN. Parents; Grady and Edna Wright Ellis of Alexandria, TN. Siblings; Donnie (Tonya) Ellis of Alexandria, TN, Kenneth Ellis of Alexandria, TN, Juanita (Michael) Howell of Brush Creek, TN, and Felecia (Bob) Vantrease of Alexandria, TN. Six grandchildren; Vaylee, Emery, Alex, Maddox, Noah, and Liam. Several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ellis are scheduled to be conducted from the Avant Funeral Home on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 3PM with Bro. Dewey Dyer officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be at the Avant Funeral Home on Sunday from 3PM until 8PM and on Monday from 10am until service time at 3PM.

Glenda Diann Scott

January 12, 2023

Hermitage, TN resident and Dekalb County, TN native Glenda Diann Scott, age 73, was born July 31, 1949 and died January 4, 2023 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN following a brief illness.

A retired employee of Kloeckner Metals and of the Church of Christ faith, she was the daughter of the late Kelly and Velma Green Walker.

Ms. Scott is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Michael Tucker of Hermitage, TN and brother, Jason Walker of Smithville, TN.

Per Ms. Scott’s wishes, she will be cremated. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at High’s.

High Funeral Home and High’s Cremations, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
