DCHS Tigers Maul Cannon County Lions 49-7
After giving up a touchdown to Cannon County in the 2nd period, the DeKalb County Tigers scored 49 unanswered points to get the victory and even their season record at 3-3 in Woodbury Friday night. With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-6.
DeKalb County will host region foe Livingston Academy for Homecoming Friday night, October 2 in Smithville. Kick-off will be at 7 p.m. and WJLE will have LIVE coverage with John Pryor and Luke Willoughby.
Neither team scored in the 1st period Friday night but Cannon County took the lead with 11:10 left in the 2nd period on a 9 yard touchdown run by Connor Tucker. Jack Byford booted the extra point to give the Lions a 7-0 advantage.
It was all Tigers from then on.
With 7:37 left in the 2nd period Desmond Nokes scored on a 9 yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Axel Aldino. Jasper Kleparek connected on the extra point to tie the game at 7-7.
Aldino followed that with a 3 yard quarterback keeper for a touchdown with 4:17 left in the first half. Kleparek added the extra point and DeKalb County took a 14-7 lead.
Isaac Knowles caught a pass from Aldino good for 8 yards and a touchdown with 2:43 left in the half. Kleparek tacked on the extra point to give DC a 21-7 advantage.
The Tigers extended their lead with 31 seconds left in the half on a 16 yard touchdown pass from Aldino to Evan Jones. The PAT by Kleparek was good and DC led 28-7 by halftime.
T.J. Alexander caught a 4 yard touchdown pass from Aldino with 8:06 left in the 3rd period. Kleparek split the uprights for the extra point to give DeKalb County a 35-7 cushion.
Isaac Knowles scored on a 95 yard punt return with 5:33 left in the 3rd period. Kleparek added the extra point and the Tigers were in control 42-7.
The final score of the game came on a 2 yard touchdown run by Colby Barnes with 11:25 left in the 4th period. Kleparek booted the extra point and DeKalb County won 49-7.
Lady Saints Soccer Team In Hunt for Regular Season Conference Crown
The Lady Saints soccer team went on the road twice last week to play Macon County on Tuesday night and Prescott Middle on Thursday.
On Tuesday, the Lady Saints found themselves in a barn burner with no score at halftime. Shortly after the second half started, the Macon County Lady Tigers found the back of the net to go up 1-0 and kept the lead for most of the half. With five minutes to go in the match, Kinsley Savage for the Lady Saints scored and the game ended in a 1-1 standoff. The Lady Saints Junior Varsity team lost 1-0.

On Thursday night, the Lady Saints got off to a good start and led 3-0 at halftime. They added three more goals in the second half to get the victory. The JV team also won 2-0

The Lady Saints now enter the last week of the regular season with an overall record of 5-2-2 and 4-0-2 in the conference. The Lady Saints will play host to Overton County in a battle for a first place conference finish on Tuesday, September 22nd at 5p.m.
Tigers Shutout Grundy County 32-0
After four weeks of close finishes, the DCHS Tigers enjoyed a breather Friday night winning 32 to 0 at Grundy County in Coalmont.
The Tigers improve to 2-3 on the season while Grundy County drops to 0-4.
All the scoring in the game came in the 1st half.
DeKalb County got on the board with 3:13 left in the 1st period as Quarterback Axel Aldino launched a pass to Isaac Knowles good for 36 yards and a score. Kicker Jasper Kleparek tacked on the extra point and the Tigers led 7-0.
DC got a safety with 10 minutes left in the 2nd period after Grundy County Quarterback Jacob Dixon was tackled in the endzone which put the Tigers on top 9-0.
Desmond Nokes scored on a 5 yard run with 7:06 left in the 2nd period capping a 33 yard drive. Kleparek added the extra point and DeKalb County led 16-0.
Aldino then found Nokes on an 8 yard touchdown pass with 2:45 left in the half capping a 60 yard drive. The PAT by Kleparek was good and the Tigers held a 23-0 lead.
DeKalb County got another safety with 2:20 left in the half after a high snap sailed over the Grundy County quarterback’s head while in the shotgun formation extending the Tigers lead to 25-0.
The last score of the game came on a 12 yard touchdown pass from Aldino to T.J. Alexander with 1:02 left before halftime. The extra point by Kleparek was good and the Tigers went on to win 32-0
DeKalb County will travel to Cannon County Friday night, September 25. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. and WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
The Lions are 0-5 with losses to Walker Valley 39-0, Warren County 48-0, Sequatchie County 46-0, Community 28-20, and Upperman 48-6.
Watertown Rallies to Defeat Tigers 21-14 in Smithville
The DeKalb County Tigers suffered their third loss of the season Friday night falling to the visiting Watertown Purple Tigers in Smithville 21 to 14.
DC drops to 1-3 on the year and Watertown improves to 3-1.
Neither team scored in the 1st period but DeKalb County took a 7-0 lead with 10:39 left in the 2nd period on a 6 yard touchdown run by Nathaniel Crook, capping a 35 yard drive. Jasper Kleparek added the PAT .
Tiger Quarterback Axel Aldino later found Desmond Nokes on a pass that went for 90 yards and a touchdown. Kleparek tacked on the extra point and DeKalb County led 14-0 with 7:34 left in the 2nd period.
Watertown got on the board with 7:12 left in the half on a 58 yard touchdown run by Jordan Cason. The PAT attempt was blocked by Evan Jones and the Purple Tigers trailed 14-6 which was the score at halftime.
The Tigers were shutout in the second half but Watertown found the endzone twice more. Cason scored on a 4 yard touchdown run with 11:55 left in the 4th period capping a 63 yard drive. Cason then scored on the 2 point conversion run to tie the game at 14.
Watertown finished off the Tigers with 7:46 left in the game as Cason scored his 3rd touchdown of the night. This time on a 26 yard run capping a 54 yard drive. Trey Pack booted the extra point and Watertown prevailed 21-14.
DeKalb County (1-3) travels to Grundy County (0-3) Friday night, September 18. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. and WJLE will have LIVE coverage. Grundy County’s losses have been to South Pittsburg 49-0, York Institute 6-3, and Bledsoe County 40-6.
Tigers Begin Their Quest for Region Title
The DeKalb County Tigers edged the Stone Memorial Panthers 31 to 30 at Crossville Friday night but that one point victory was all they needed to get a 1-0 start in the race for the regular season region title. After three weeks into the campaign both the Tigers and Panthers are 1-2.
Friday night, September 11 DeKalb County returns home to host the Watertown Purple Tigers. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. and WJLE will have LIVE coverage. Watertown is 2-1 with victories at Gordonsville 14-7 and at Trousdale County 9 to 7 and a 24 to 20 loss at home to Nolensville.
DeKalb County scored first Friday night on a 22 yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Axel Aldino to Desmond Nokes, capping a 71 yard drive. Tiger kicker Jasper Kleparek converted the PAT and DC led 7-0 with 9:17 left in the 1st period.
The Panthers cashed in after a Tiger turnover driving 38 yards for a score. Hunter Heavilon scored on a 12 yard touchdown run. The try for the 2 point conversion failed but Stone Memorial was on the board trailing 7 to 6 with 5:13 left in the 1st period.
Tiger Quarterback Axel Aldino broke free on a 54 yard touchdown run with 1:52 left in the 1st period. Kleparek added the PAT and DeKalb County led 14 to 6.
The Tigers extended their lead on a 3 yard touchdown run by Colby Barnes with 8:30 left in the 2nd period capping a 92 yard drive. Kleparek tacked on the extra point and DC led 21-6.
Stone Memorial scored on the ensuing kickoff as Jayden Eldridge raced 82 yards on the return. The conversion attempt failed and the DC lead was cut to 21 to 12 with 8:14 left in the 2nd period.
Tiger Quarterback Aldino scored his second rushing touchdown of the game on a 16 yard run with 4:42 left in the 2nd period. Kleparek converted the PAT and DeKalb County owned a 28 to 12 advantage.
The Panthers struck again on a 45 yard touchdown pass to Kaleb Flowers with 2:22 left in the half. The conversion try was no good but Stone Memorial trailed by only 10 points at 28-18.
Stone Memorial drew even closer with 12 seconds left in the 2nd period on a 1 yard touchdown run by Hunter Heavilon. The conversion attempt failed but the Panthers had cut the DC lead to 4 at 28-24.
The Panthers took their only lead of the night on a 15 yard touchdown run by Nick Coble with 4:09 left in the 3rd period. The conversion attempt was no good but Stone Memorial grabbed a 30 to 28 advantage.
DeKalb County’s Jasper Kleparek split the uprights on a 32 yard field goal with 3:16 to go in the 3rd period to give the Tigers the lead again and the win 31 to 30.
